Battle Notes

You must be on Chapter 5 of the Chains of Promathia Missions before you can get this quest. To begin, talk to Venessa in Ru'Lude Gardens and choose "Spire of Vahzl" to get the key item: Censer of Acrimony.

Enter Promyvion - Vahzl and make your way to the Spire of Vahzl.

The object of this battlefield fight is to defeat the Red Memory Receptacle.

When you first enter the battlefield, only the Red Memory Receptacle will be there. Once you approach it, three additional receptacles will spawn: Blue Memory Receptacle, Green Memory Receptacle, and Yellow Memory Receptacle. The Red Memory Receptacle will be immune to all attacks at this point of the battle.

You must defeat one of the other colored receptacles first to allow the Red Memory Receptacle to take damage again. The other receptacles cast Empty Seed and summon a NM when defeated. Once the NM is defeated, you may immediately approach the Red Memory Receptacle and destroy it. Once the Red Memory Receptacle is destroyed, the remaining receptacles will despawn and you win the fight.

Some notes:

  • The Red Receptacle not only has empty seed, but will draw in a random player roughly every 20 seconds.
  • The lesser receptacles don't have a lot of HP, neither do the NM they spawn.
  • The lesser receptacles may move around in the room.
  • Light Blue Receptacle will allow you to do melee damage to the Red Receptacle.
  • Blue Receptacle will allow you to do ranged damage to the Red Receptacle.
  • Green Receptacle will allow you to do magic damage to the Red Receptacle.

This one is starting to annoy me. Mostly the part where you have to pick the light blue MR. I've done 4 runs now and 2 of the times I've hit the blue MR instead (haven't won any yet). Have anyone noticed if the 3 MRs are always in the same order clockwise? This last run the order was light blue in the front clockwise then green and blue last. Hit the blue (again) this time ; ; I can't remember the order of the previous one which was the right light blue.

OK, it looks like it is always the front most MR, clockwise.

MNK75, Geared up for level 50 cap, got me mids and food and went to the ENM
Buffed up good and went to the red MR, 3 other MRs poped, I went for the light blue MR, Raging Fist for 1100 dmg and extra 4 hits and its dead, spawned a thinker type mob, went for the red MR, 2Hr and kicked the **** out of it. And won. Too bad the drops arent that good.

P.S. I used lots of Hi-Potions+3(5), Regen Au lait, Vile Elixir +1, Icurus Wing, Reraiser, lots of Evasion+ gear, plus I am almost fully merited for a level 50 cap, Ya, one more thing, I used psycoanima on the thinker mob.

Nice and Clean, Hopefully I'll get my ring next time :)

Haha, I just finished soloing this on DRG (Went 1/5, or I'd have done it a month ago, lol). Definitely not an easy fight, but it's possible; I think most melee DDs could pull it off. I ended up using a Vile Elixer, 15 Hi-Potions, Icarus Wing, Defense food, and an Au Lait regen drink that got stolen by the thinker mob with Trinary Absorbtion. I used both Psycho and Hystero anima as well. Unfortunately I'm only 60, so no merits to help out. Also unfortunately I got crap drops...

The strategy was to WS the light blue MR, plus a little extra damage killed it pretty quick. Then hit the Contemplator with both anima, and proceed to kill it. Without a huge damaging 2hour like Hundred Fists, I couldn't afford to leave it alive. After that it's pretty easy, just go for the Red MR and beat on it until it dies. It likes to spam Empty Seed when it gets low on health, but that's what potions are for, I guess. Ended up taking almost 3000 damage over the course of the fight.

For future reference, the blue/green/aqua MRs have 1500 HP, as do the mobs they spawn. The Red MR has 3000.
Yeah...

Lie... I went in this ENM with a LS party and all of them used Empty Seed, so it's not just one.

Also, the other three Memory Receptacles stay in a line formation and switch sides of the arena about every minute. They went in a counter-clockwise movement, starting at the right side of the main Memory Receptacle.

Empty Seed was a major pain though. We managed to get the green Memory Receptacle dead but wiped shortly after due to Draw-In and Empty Seed. It wasn't bad considering no one in the LS did this ENM yet.

NIN, BLM x3, SMN, WHM

heres some info on this enm, its really not as hard as it seems

first of all, its 50 cap, 30 mins, 6 members recomended, nin and /nin helps alot with empty seed

there is one red memory receptacle at the start, it has 3 barriers, ranged attack, melee attack, and magic attack...

the 3 memory receptacles that spawn represent these barriers

green memory receptacle = dem, only 1 gorger type monster spawns, not 2, as previously stated, once destroyed, the red memory receptacle will take magic damage.

blue memory receptacle = mea, 1 craver monster will spawn, once destroyed the red memory receptacle will take ranged attack damage

cyan memory receptacle = holla, 1 thinker will spawn, once destroyed the red memory receptacle will take melee damage

the boss mobs that spawn are very easy to kill, the only problem is draw in, heres some details on that:

it only draws in 1 person at a time!
empty seed doest hit that hard!
the other 3 memory receptacles that spawn will NOT use empty seed unless you attack them, so to minimizse seed damage, kill 1 at a time.

i recommend a ninja tank, white mage, and various DD jobs

so to win: all you need to do is defeat one boss to destroy one of the main memory receptacles barriers, rangers are very good for this, using barrage i took about 20% of the red memory receptacles hp down after we killed the mea boss.

so.. if you have mainly ranger DD- kill mea boss
mainly magic DD- kill dem boss
mainly melee DD- kill holla boss

once the red memory receptacle is down you have won ^^

as far as drops are concerned i think ffxi.somepage has some nice info on that

edit: grants 3k exp when you win

Question- When I did this the first time we popped the colored receptacles and went after the blue one first. We were doing ok on it but the main receptacle kept drawing us in and using Empty Seed over and over. Is there a way to avoid this? Did someone just get too close?

I'll officially submit later maybe:

Capped at Level 50, in Spire of Vahzl (Accessible by either climbing the old-fashioned way or insta-warp if you've completed part or all of the dungeon). to get the Key item, you MUST have Entered Promyvion-Vahzl once.

You have 1 Memory Recepticle (that cons as a NM), but as you Approach it, 3 others spawn. You can not touch the Red one before the other 3 are defeated.

When you defeat one, they pop out a Promyvion Mini-boss.
Green - Holla Boss
Yellow - Dem Boss (This one spawns 2 Gorgers instead of one)
blue - Mea Boss.

Once those are gone, let it all out on the Red Memory recepticle (which DOES NOT pop out a Mini-Boss.)

EXP granted is 3000 with 6 people, EXP Is cut if more than 6 enter the battlefield.

There is a possiblity of a Vision or Image item. Image items can be traded for crafting items. Visions can be traded for equipment such as the Astral Rope and Toreador's Ring.

Just to clarify: I got the key item (Censer of acrimony) without having ever entered Promyvion-Vahzl. I am flagged up to the point where I have to go to Pso'Xja and kill the golem to get in, however, so that's probably the requirement.
