Battle Notes

To start the battle you need to go see Twinkbrix at (E-13) in Oldton Movalpolos. He will let you gamble anywhere from 1 to 10,000 gil with him. If you win then he will give you the key item: Shaft Gate Operating Dial to enter the battlefield. The more gil you bet the better you odds. He rolls two 50 sided dice. At 1 gil they must total 2. At 10k they must total anywhere from 2 to 50. With varying levels of odds inbetween. After winning he will offer to warp you to Mine Shaft #2716 for 2000 gil.

This is a solo ENM battle. You will have 15 minutes to defeat it.

You will see two NMs. The Moblin Fantocciniman and the Fantoccini. You must defeat the Fantoccini, which will be the same job as you. The Moblin Fantocciniman will roll a die and randomly buff either you or the Fantoccini. To win, you must kill the Fantoccini. The Moblin Fantocciniman does not aggro. Do not attack him or he will join the fight.

did this as hume blm, fight way to easy. entered ate melon pie+1 then got in casting range and put on ice spikes then cast freeze. hume blm only casts magic when he gets a good roll so just melee him, he hits for only 22 a go and spikes para him most fight. drain and aspir when can and save stun for when he gets good roll and tries to use magic, got lantern on 2nd win and skill up on staff lol
>.<

I call ******** on this. I went in as NIN, put up shadows, ate my food, and started debuffing as soon as I got in range. I had enought time to para, slow, blind, and swing twice before he uses mijin gakure.....1146 damage...WTF!!!!!!

Everyone said this guy was good practice for Maat. Well, I've already fought Maat as NIN and this guys would make Maat his *****. He was very accurate even when buffed. Matt missed almost every swing after I had him debuffed. Maat's Mijin Gakure also does about half as much as this guy's does. /sigh...what a waste of time and money...

WHM
# Oct 10 2006 at 12:16 PM Rating: Decent
heh, this ENM is amusing to say the least, I was bored waiting for friends to long in for Divine might, and I figured, i needed some exp for a buffer, just to be safe..so I grab the 8 bajillion walahra waters I had from getting my turban (I wanted rid of those damn things lol only used 3... grr lol) and got my level 60 gear out, AF arcana breaker oracles belt 2 aquamarine rings, and the divine earring I bought for something a while back to replace my magician's with... anyway, I get to the BC throw on my swimsuit to test the armor rumor, I get inside and I swap to af, and buff, the usual whm stuff.

after getting my MP back, I equip my arcana breaker and divine shield and pop a meat mithkabob (mm us mithra love those >.>) I run to the puppet, cast banish II 85...lol oh well, I draw my hammer, as does the puppet,as it comes up to me, I slow/paralyze/diaII it and thanks to RDM capping my enfeebling i didn't get resisted (+10 enfeebling from my briault couldn't hurt either) call it luck but the first roll gives me attack up XD and I get 100tp regular, I ready true strike and the mobile gives me +169 more tp right as I use it so truestrike blasted 350 =O.O= lol the puppet gets stoneskin off of me, so I flash and recast while the puppet helplessly misses me.

I get it off and the mob gives the puppet the attack up...he starts hitting me 80+ and as fast as a sword... so things are lookin kinda bad, I had 200hp left hehe, well the mob gives me def boost, I start taking 20 damage and my shield starts kicking in more (man I need to skill shield badly, being level 75 and skilling up from a 60 cap battle is just sad lol shield 144) so I cast cure4 and use a walahra water getting 50 hp and mp back.

puppet uses brainshaker, it did 10, after I unstunned I truestriked for 175, keep in mind I was using mage gear as my melee whm gear is 70+ at this point the puppet was at 40% hp, so I cast banish II again..85 and I have like 30 hp left and +2 refresh from yaggy drink.

basically the rest was just us trading blows till I finished him with holy >.> I won, 2k exp, and worm mulch :/ lol oh well, neither of us used benediction and the only spell the stupid puppet casted was >.> ya ready? >.> stona!!! XD yup I guess he'd had a bong too many cause he casted stona lol

The BRD fight against this things isn't so hard. He only uses a dagger,
the strongest attack he did to me was a Gust Slash (or how it is called) I believe and that did 150 damage to me, and I'm even a taru. I didn't
bring any special gear at all, just what I always had with me.

I did bring 1 au laut, a boiled crab and 5 Hi-Potions.
I only used 1 Hi-Potion though.

Went in the fight. Used Soul Voice, used Army's Paeon 3 + 4 and the au lait.
Engaged him with about 750 HP at max. He didn't use any songs at all, until
the Moblin triggered it for him and he just keeps singing then leaving no time to attack. He used Quick Etude once and cast Quick Etude again right after that :P. Used about 3 times Spirits Within for about 100 damage and when I got an attack bonus I used Fast Blade for about 150 damage.
He got like 7/10 of the buffs and still was very easy, I even messed up a few times using the wrong items or wrong macros and still won.
Didn't get the Getsul Ring though, better luck next time :).

Good luck fellow bards ^_^.

Gear:
Weapon: Vassago's Scythe
Head: Chaos Burgeonet/Blink Band
Body: Haubergeon
Hands: Sipahi Dastanas
Legs: Royal Knight's breaches
Feet: Chaos Sollerets
Back: Jaguar Mantle
Belt: Life Belt
Earrings: Assault Earring, Spike Earring
Rings: Woodsman Ring X2

Consumables:
Hi-Potion+3x4
Icarus Wing, I can get by without it, but it helps.
Sole Sushi

Strategy:
The basic goal is to kill the Fantocinni as fast as possible.

Once past the gate use Blink Band and Sushi, and Icarus Wing if your using one.

Engage the Fantocinni from far enough away that you can cast spells but not get aggroed. Cast Absorb-Str and Absorb-Vit, and if you have time Bio II. Make sure that once the Fantocinni reaches you that you wait to cast spells between swings of your scythe. You should be able to get off both Absorbs before he gets to you if you stood just within casting range.

As soon as you have 100 TP Souleater Guillotine then Blood Weapon to get back you lost HP from the Guillotine, make sure to turn off Souleater once Blood Weapon wears off.

Once you reach 100 TP again(make sure you Absorb-TP when you feel the Fantoccinni has enough TP to steal), Last Resort Guillotine. If the Fantocinni is still standing, kill Last Resort, your going to need the Def for the last few swings.

If your health gets below 400, cast Stun then start chain popping the Hi-
Potions.

This is the gear setup and strategy that I use and I've only lost once. Hope it helps.

I was wondering if anyone has done this as a PUP and if so what automation you used, what gear, and what attachments you used. Long with how it went.^^ Currently only lvl 45 PUP but going to lvl this to 60 before my RDM or NIN. Even thou the items that you get don't seem interesting don't mind getting 2k exp in 15min.

Thanks for any info^^

Corsair fight

(Also posted on the Corsair Job forum)

So I wanted to find out what job specific item Cors could get from this, but couldn't find any info for it online, so decided to go try it myself, now that its actually implemented.

Went in naked, equipped Archer's Knife, Matchlock Gun, Corsair's Tricorn, Agile Gorget, 2xDrone Earring, Scorpion ring, Makrsman ring, Jaridah hands and legs, Corsair's Frac, Bounding Boots, Nomad Mantle and the 50 san d'orian belt+2. Had 10 Hi-pots on hand.

Used Squid Sushi, Ninja Roll and Hunter's roll. Didn't get too great of rolls, 6 on Ninja, 8 on Hunter's, but I didn't want to risk a bust as that would hurt a lot more than an unlucky roll since this is a solo fight.

Basic fighting tactics, run to the outer rim of the fighting area, hit attack, start the fight off with a Wind Shot > Ranged attack. From there it'll all be attacking back and forth and popping a hi-potion when you start to get low on hp. Pop off a Slug Shot whenever you've got enough TP to hit. He had fairly low evasion and I only missed a couple times in the whole fight.

The moblin rolls mostly gave TP to either me or the doll, restored hp on me once. A couple rolls caused the doll to use Hunter's Roll then Rogue's roll a little later. He got a 8 on Hunter's, I didn't pay attention to Rogue's. The only roll that really hurt me was one that gave the doll 300%TP resulting in an immediate Hot Shot for a couple hundred points of damage.

Used about 7 or 8 of the Hi-pots, so you might want to take a few extra just incase you arn't so lucky with the moblin rolls.

Unfortunately I didn't get the item after the win, only the 2k exp. So I wasn't able to find that out which was my ultimate goal, however I did figure out that its not too difficult to defeat this guy, I'll probably try again next week.

If anyone has figured out what the item it drops for Cor is please let me know. :)

Edit: Just found out on FFXIclopedia that you can get a Pouch of Corsair Bullets from this. Not really worth the money it cost to have Twinkbrix send you down there in my opinion =/

The item drop is not 100%, I had to beat it six times to get mine. Aside from the item winning gives 2000 exp every time. Also you don't lose exp if you die.

That's why people do it regularly.

PLD 1 for 2
# Jul 16 2006 at 3:27 AM Rating: Decent
I've tried this fight twice now. First time was easy and fun... the second however...

If your a pld, grab some ACC+ equipment and some ATT+.

First time: I used a Blink Hairpin, P3, S3, Taco, healed full then used a invictus wing. The really sad part about this ENM in general is that its alot of luck, plan and simple. The first time I was given +300 tp, cured full and Spirits within for roughly 700 damage droped him down to less then half. Also was given stone skin and def. bonus. Shout me up to 700+ def. he couldnt hit me. Used Posions and Cures as needed. Easy fight.

Second Fight: I didnt use Blink Hairpin (since I barrow it from a friend) but P3, S3, Tacos, full healed. (Sadly couldnt afford a invictus wing at the time so i skipped that part). That lowsy ENM started the fight with a 300 TP buff and droped me to 200 hp from a spirits within... after that he was given cure IV, stone skin, and more TP buffs. I died quick and hard.

So for all you PLD out there. If you dont succeed try untill you do. Plus its alot of fun to just kill the dude.

Good Luck ^.^

I've been doing this ENM regularly since lvl 60 and one thing I always wondered was if you get merits or exp at 75 if you're in merit mode. Today was my first time in at lvl 75, and it's official: it does give merits. Just thought I'd throw that out there for anyone that was wondering.

I assume this would hold true for all ENMs, but since this is the only one I've ever done, I can't say for sure.

Summoner Fight
# Jun 20 2006 at 5:37 PM Rating: Decent
Here's some info for all those Summoners out in Vandy. I've only tried this once, so please reply with any experiences that you might have.

1. Before the Fight.

Remeber that you cannot use your subjob during the fight, therefore you will not be able to cure yourself. I recommend bringing Hi-Potions, Hi-Ethers, Yagudo drinks, and perhaps a reraise item. I also equipt a blink headband to speed things up and not need to wait for garuda.

2. Buffing up.

Personally, I didn't use my light spirit for buffing. Maybe I should have, but I definitelly don't think it's necessary. I did use Titan for Earthen Ward. Next, I used my blink headband. These steps are important... you WILL take some hits. Take a few seconds to rest-up and allow your BP timer to reset.

3. The fight.

I decided to use Shiva at the start for Double Slap. As I approached, Fantoccini started casting Shiva as well (I'm not sure whether it's coincidence or if he always uses your first avatar... probably coincidence). Here's where the fun begins.

I could give all kinds of details about my fight, but this entire ENM boils down to one thing - using Astral Flow correctly. Here's what HAS to happen... you must keep distance between your avatar and the moblin. You need to hit AF on Fantoccini & his avatar BUT NOT the moblin. If you can do that all 3 times, you'll win this fight. If you hit the moblin in one of the first two AF's you're sure to lose.

Are there other strategies? Likely. Please reply with any if you have them. Maybe sleeping the other avatar w/ Shiva's Sleepga would work. Perhaps the same with Diabolos' nightmare. Give 'em a shot and let me know how it goes.

Be sure to know the blood pacts of the Fanocinni's avatar. BIG TROUBLE happened when his shiva hit me with sleepga (I wasn't thinking about this possible BP AOE). Needless to say, I was thankful for my reraise scroll. I'll be sure to keep my distance next time.

What happened in my run? Well... my first AF went wonderfully and I saw Fan's HP drop about 1/3 and it killed his Avatar. The 2nd AF brought the Fanoccini down to 1/3 total health, killed his avatar, and unfortunately hit the moblin as well. Fannocini brought out an avatar and all three of them started whoopin' up on my avatar and I... not a pleasurable picture. Lesson learned... keep Astral Flow away from the moblin. I'll try to use retreat in the future to get my avatar at the perfect spot next time befure using AF.

I'll let you know how it goes on my next attempt, but until then happy hunting!
Easy Fight....but no win
# Jun 18 2006 at 6:44 PM Rating: Decent
I just did this fight on Monk today, I lost but all in all it was very easy.

Gear:

T.M. Hooks +2
Tiphia Sting
Temple Crown
Spike Necklace
Spike Earring x2
Temple Cyclas
Temple Gloves
Puissance Rings x2
Jaguar Mantle
Life Belt
Temple Hose
Temple Gaiters

I did not use my sniper's rings as to avoid the defense -10, so i chose life belt and 2x STR rings instead. I went in, used au lait and meat mithkabob (The Fantoccini has poor evasion), boosted up, then popped counterstance, dodge, focus, hundred fists, and chi blasted him. The fight went extremely smooth until he started getting TP enhancments from the goblin. 1...2...3...4 and he killed me with howling fist. As long as you get lucky, unlike me, this fight is really no problem.

warrior?
# Sep 06 2006 at 10:50 AM Rating: Decent
I have done this 47 times as a Warrior and have only lost about 9 times mostly when I first started doing it. I have only lost once in my last 15 tries.

That being said here is how I do it:
Gear
I typically have 3 sets of gear on me at all times and I make use of all 3 in this fight (Tanking, Attack and Weapon Skill). The gear below is not mandatory, it is just what I use to do this enm. You will need a bit of accurracy as you will most likely be using meat during the fight. Life belt is a must.

Extra Gear
I am including this as the first gear list as it is important to the fight:
Blink Band (Gives you a free set of shadows)
Sparton Hoplon (Gives you Phalanx)
Wing Gorget (This is not necessary but if you are just beginning, this may come in handy)

Tanking Gear
Full AF (Body, Head, Feet, Legs, Hands)
Waist: Life Belt (You will need this and possibly more accurracy to get to 100tp quickly)
Back: Jaguar mantle
Ring1: Assailant's Ring
Ring2: Woodsman Ring
Neck: Chivalrous Chain
Ear: 2xDodge Earrings - Most wars would laugh at this, but I have them so I use them.
Main Weapon: Basically any axe you would use at this level. I used to use Darksteel +1 and now I have a Tungi.
Shield: Sparton Hoplon
Ranged: Combat Caster's +1 Boomerang

Attack Gear
I will just list the items that change here:
Ear1: Assault Earring
Ear2: Spike Earring
Body: Haubergeon
Hands: Spiked Finger Gauntlets
Head: Walkure Mask
Legs: Royal Knights Breeches

WS Gear
Ring1: Sun Ring
Ring2: Woodsman Ring
Head: Sipahi Turban
Hands: Enkelado's Bracelets

NOTE: If you choose to use the wing gorget, do not change out your neckpiece during the fight or you will lose the equip delay. You will want to use immediately after your first rampage.

In addition to the Extra Gear mention above there are a few items to take:
2-4xHi Potion - I rarely need these anymore and for emergency sake.
Pear Au Lait - Cheap regen drink
Meat Mith/Chiefkabob: I am currently using this as it seems to work fine for me. When you are first starting off you may want to look at carbonara for the extra HP and TP return.

Entering The Fight
I go in naked. This may not have any bearing on the Fant's stats, but I do it anyways.

Equip Gear
Once I enter I equip my tanking setup with the exception of my head piece.
Equip the Blink Band and the Hoplon so the equip dealy timer starts running.
Use your food.
Heal up any remaining hp.

Once hp is full use the Blink Band.
After using the Blink Band, unequip and equip your Fighters Mask.
Use the Sparton Hoplon. Do not unequip this or you will lose the phalanx effect.
Eat the Pear Au Lait and head into the fight.

The Beginning of the Fight
The fight is quite simple. Head in and start beating on Fant.
When you get into the 90s for tp prepare for your first rampage.

Ready for First Rampage
Time to start firing off stuff.
Hit Beserk and Agressor first.
Equip your weapon skill gear
Hit Warcry
Hit Mighty Strikes
Rampage. (I normally hit any where between 700-1100 on this though I have seen it in the 500s)
Equip Attack gear

Preparing For Your 2nd Rampage
Keep your attack gear on and zerk up because you want to make your mighty strikes count.

NOTE: At this point, if you have chosen to use a wing gorget, this would be the time to use it to get to 100tp faster and get a 2nd MS enhanced weapon skill off. After you are familiar with doing this fight, this won't be necessary.

During this period of time you are going to take the most damage but don't worry its all part of the fight. Remember I mentioned to bring 2 hi potions. If you you get at or below 400hp, use both your potions as he can at times hit you for over 400.

In rare occurrances I have had to pop defender at this point just to get to 100tp. Just remember to turn it off before your 2nd rampage.

Time For Your 2nd Rampage
When you get to 100 tp equip weapon skill gear and rampage again.
In most cases, this is enough to finish him off.

Comments
Total fight time including equiping and healing is about 6-7 minutes.

Through all my attempts I have found the Axe a lot better to use then a Great Axe. I seem to pull off higher numbers on Rampage than Raging Rush basically because you don't have time to hit 300tp for a massive RR. Plus if you use GAxe you lose the Phalanx effect from the Sparton Hoplon.

I have won this fight with as little as 10hp and as much as 1100. Just depends on the day.

Avoid Darksday if you can. I have found that day to be problematic. Fant tends to get a lot of bonuses on darksday.

If you are worried about the amount of HP, Carbonara is an excellent food item for this fight. Being Galka my HP is high enough I don't have to worry so much about it so this could be a good alternative for other races.

Any question feel free to ask.

I just did this as 60 MNK, and I was destroying this thing until it got a Counterstance roll just as I used Hundred Fists. I was still ok though, I had about 450 hp left and I was on the verge of killing him when he got a 300 TP roll ><

Howling Fist ftw ; ;

If not for 2 lucky rolls, I would have won easily. I used some of the previously posted methods, boost X11 --> Chi blast, counterstance, pamama au lait...I should have used Hundred Fists a little earlier, but that is a lesson learned. No rolls for me, by the way. :/
Whm woes.

I went into this battle very unprepared. I didn't really expect to win, but I had thought I stood a pretty good chance. Little did I realize my subjob would be dropped. That's not mentioned in the description..and like most others here, I didn't bother reading every single post below it.

My equipment was my standard AF gear, along with some MP plus items. I had a couple of Yag drinks on me, thankfully...cause I no longer had the smn refresh. My Magician's earring was worthless as well because I had no subjob. I was also using my Fire Staff to melee. I've had better luck with it in the past than my Battle Staff, possibly due to the Strength boosts and such that it gives.

All of that aside, I figured I still might have a shot. I did well, getting him down to about half health when the moblin had him use Benediction. Ugh...well..still..I kept beating on him. One thing I totally didn't think about though, was my WS. I used Earth Crusher before I even realized what I was doing, and y'know what? The Moblin didn't aggro me. So I kept using it. On the third usage, I had built-up/been given 200+ tp. I used Earth Crusher, then the moblin said I'd pissed him off, and came after me too. FYI...the Moblin hits MUCH harder than the WHM puppet. At 150+ per hit, I died in about 5 seconds.

Now that I'm a bit more informed..I'm gonna go back, just a little bit more prepared. What sucks is that I've come to depend on my AoE WS...Earth Crusher is the most powerful WS that my whm has at lvl 60...I guess I could level my club skill for awhile....*sigh*

To Recap:

Your subjob is stripped for this battle.
You can do a *little* bit of damage to the moblin, and he won't care. I'm not sure what the limit is.
As a whm, the puppet didn't cast ANY healing magic on himself. In fact, the only thing he DID cast was Dia II. He just keeps beating on you, and seems to be fond of the Brain Shaker club WS.
I also don't know how often you can attempt to do this. I plan to try again, possibly this afternoon, or tommorrow.
