In-Game TextDescriptionYou must have completed CoP Mission 3-2 before you can get this quest. Help Omer retrieve his prized fishing rod that was stolen from him by an Elvaan girl. Apparently the rod was lost whe she fished up a monster out on Qufim Island. Prishe has borrowed Omer's fishing rod. However, it has been lost and is now in possession of a monster in Qufim. Head to Qufim and acquire an Egret Fishing Rod from a Kraken or Sea Bishop. Trade it to Omer to complete the quest. You will receive 3000 gil. OMG i have to go do this quest just to be a "Rod Retriever"
..this quest is a gargantuan pain in the ***.
I killed roughly 18 or so fished Sea Bishops and Krakens over the span of two days. When I finally got the drop (from a Kraken fished up right in front of the BST quest flower spot), I warped to Jeuno to finish the quest. I asked Johannes, a friend of mine who was helping me at the time, what he thought the reward might be. (He'd never done the quest before.) He answered, "probably 3000 gil."
So I go back to turn it in, after a brief cutscene, there's my reward..
3,000 gil.
Yes, this quest is definitely not worth the heartache if you're just doing it for the reward.
Actually.. this quest does give you a title. That title is "Rod Retriever". So if you're collecting titles that indicate a questionable sexuality, this quest is totally for you.
