Summary

Luto has recently discovered that another mirror bearing strange properties exists in the world. It is supposedly somewhere in San d'Oria and she wants you to go look for it.

Walkthrough

Part 03 of The Fellowship Quest

Speak with Luto Mewrilah in Upper Jeuno yet again to start this quest. You will now need to go to Cargo Room B in Port San d'Oria and speak with Portaure.

After you are done with this cutscene, proceed to the hut in Ghelsba Outpost (same hut as the one for "Save the Children" San d'Oria Rank Mission, and The Holy Crest.) Once you click on the hut door you will be able to enter the last battle for the Fellowship set of quests. This battle is a BCNM 40 and you are able to take a maximum of 3 people into the battle. Your fellow will jump in about halfway through the battle. You can only bring in players that have not finished the Fellowship quest and require this same BCNM. For each player that enters, an additional Wyvern will spawn.

Once you have completed the battle, return to Upper Jeuno and speak to Luto Mewrilah to finish this quest and get your Signal Pearl to call your fellow.

exp
# Aug 12 2005 at 1:44 PM Rating: Decent
i assume theres no way to find out what kinda exp yer npc is getting? just gotta keep fighting and wait to see it lvl up?
RE: exp
# Aug 14 2005 at 2:05 PM Rating: Excellent
your NPC will get the same exp you would get from soloing the moster you are killing but at there level. so if you are killing a lvl 35 monster and your NPC is lvl 30 you NPC will get the same exp you would get for soloing a lvl 35 mob at lvl 30.
i got owned
# Aug 12 2005 at 5:19 AM Rating: Decent
I think im probably the only person on the full game to have lost solo against this, - lvl 40 WHM - first half i never got touched, wiped him down to half in under a minute. NPC comes in so i decide to heal, dragon uses petrify on him and i didnt know, with no MP i can do nothing. so i fight him down to a slither of health and my full HP. But, then he uses petrify on me! and im lying face down in the dirt outside :(. oh well, just try again i guess.
race

does your npc race matter? If I get a galka will it have higher hp and vit than a taru npc?
Change Style?
# Aug 11 2005 at 9:45 AM Rating: Decent
I got the option to choose a style and chose Attacker. However, I don't like that and want to change. Go to rendevousz point but can't seem to get the option to change it back. Anyone know how???
How Do You Change Combat Style Once Already Chosen
# Aug 11 2005 at 9:41 AM Rating: Decent
Hello: I got the option in the rendevousz point to choose a combat style. I chose Attacker but don't like that for my NPC. I want to go back to shield but that option no longer shows up in the dialog box. Does anyone know if you even can change styles and if so how??? Thanks!!

i think (think) that you have to summon your npc 4 times and then talk to Luto and she'll tell you that you can give your NPC a new weapon. So far i've given mine a GK (Uchigatana) and a Katana (Wakizashi). idk if you can give ur NPC 2 katanas and if they'll actually use them. i tried trading Luto two Katanas to see if my NPC could equip them at the same time, but Luto didn't take them, so i just gave them to her one at a time, but my NPC only had one Katana when i summoned her. can sum one tell me if i can ever get my NPC to equip two at a time =/
thanx

The second Great Axe you trade is "Great Axe" Lv.12
If anyone knows the other weapons Second Weapons, or even past the Second weapons, please list them. I'm sure people would appreciate it. ^_^

Ok, I'm embarrassed to even ask this, but I haven't gotten any confirmation yet. How do you level up your NPC buddy? Do you have to be on a job around level 30 to do it? What areas are best to start?

Your NPC does not actually party with you, so you can essentially power level them by fighting mobs way about their level. Western Altepa Desert has been my personal favorite NPC leveling location so far. I've also seen quite a few people leveling their NPCs in Xarcabard and several other areas. Just try to avoid mobs with AoEs that do damage. Those can take your NPC out pretty quickly. Oh, and most importantly, have fun. :)
hard for thief?
# Aug 08 2005 at 10:18 AM Rating: Decent
did anyone do this with a thf? if so what lvl did u do it at and was it hard?
RE: hard for thief?
# Aug 11 2005 at 12:18 AM Rating: Decent
Did it as 52thf/nin. Wasn't too bad, just came into trouble towards the end, dang AoE drain from the undead NM almost killed my buddy :(....

Other than that, not to hard. Probably could have done it at a lower lvl.

The Dragon I killed as a rng with my Ninja buddy for tank. I wouldn't suggest it soloing as a thief, unless you think you can bloody bolt him to death :)

I see a couple of posts asking about fame/rank requirements. You must be Rank 4 (note, not fame level, but actual rank) in order to receive this quest. There is also a small fame requirement, but I can't say what that is, as mine was already over the necessary level.
really stupid question

For anyone who thinks "Oh no, 40 capped BCNM!" don't worry- the dragon is cake at level 40, and I'm a WHM, just so you know :P Once i entered the arena, I buffed up, rested to full, layed on my enfeebles, went in swinging with my Solid Wand, and occasionally threw a banish II or banishga- never even needed to use any cure spells

If you ever decide you want to change your NPC Fellow into another face type, race or sex, you can restart after all three NPC Fellows quests are completed. Talk to Luto Mewrilah and choose I want to quit this task and verify you want to get rid of your current NPC Fellow, and you will entirely lose your current Fellow and be able to complete the quests all over again, choosing a different NPC Fellow.

Wha?
# Aug 03 2005 at 12:08 PM Rating: Decent
Okay, i decided to just go in as drg/whm and see how fast i could get owned on this dragon. i started with blink and aquaveil with protect and shell. after that, i went in and fought him. i pwned him in 4 minutes solo and never used a single spell after initial buffs. i bragged on my LS about it, so a mnk buddy said he wanted me to help him do his. we get out there, wait in the long line, and i can't go in again, so he is dropping tarus in his pants right about now. he has no equipment at all. he fights the things and after the NPC joins in, he enearths himself and goes one hundred fists and owns the thing. he never healed himself either. needless to say, my bragging stopped there. this thing isn't worthy to be a 3 party BCNM.
Galka WHM can solo it with a WAND

As a Galka White Mage, I ended up soloing this dragon since the friend I brought to help me wasn't able to enter. Stoneskin and Blink, then I melee'd the dragon with my wand (only weapon I brought, I didn't expect to fight ;_;). I only got the dragon down about 5-10% of its life when my NPC buddy showed up, broke the mirror, then together we defeated it. I was shocked that the fight was easy enough to allow me to effectively "solo" it like that.
Near Death Experience

Hey all, first time posting here, hello hello. So here's my story on this fight. I got to the outpost, had no level 40 body armor, nor did I have a belt, scythe or neck piece of armor. I'm too cheap and didn't want to purchase them. However, I asked two high level JPN's to help me, told them I'd give them 5000g a piece, but they declined. Anyways, we partied up and waited in line. We got ready to go in, needless to say, when I got in there, they didn't make it through, I was the only one in there to battle this beast. Mind you my HP was dropped to 800 something with the lvl 40 cap, and my MP was 100 something after having chomped on a pumpkin pie. So here I am alone to fight it, minus my new buddy half way in. So I'm like forget it and I fight it anyways... I hit him with Bio once, drain 3 times, poison twice; 8 minutes later and an HP of 26 I'm sitting here telling you this story, needless to say, I was scared, but in the end Victorious!! I love my little buddy now. That is all, take care ^^
