Summary

Luto has recently discovered that another mirror bearing strange properties exists in the world. It is supposedly somewhere in San d'Oria and she wants you to go look for it.

Walkthrough

Part 03 of The Fellowship Quest

Speak with Luto Mewrilah in Upper Jeuno yet again to start this quest. You will now need to go to Cargo Room B in Port San d'Oria and speak with Portaure.

After you are done with this cutscene, proceed to the hut in Ghelsba Outpost (same hut as the one for "Save the Children" San d'Oria Rank Mission, and The Holy Crest.) Once you click on the hut door you will be able to enter the last battle for the Fellowship set of quests. This battle is a BCNM 40 and you are able to take a maximum of 3 people into the battle. Your fellow will jump in about halfway through the battle. You can only bring in players that have not finished the Fellowship quest and require this same BCNM. For each player that enters, an additional Wyvern will spawn.

Once you have completed the battle, return to Upper Jeuno and speak to Luto Mewrilah to finish this quest and get your Signal Pearl to call your fellow.

I just saw someone with his NPC in Promyvion Holla. He could not explain how, because of language barrier...does anyone know how this was done?

As of the Oct. 11th patch you can now call your npc in some, though not all, dungeon type areas. I tried in Pso'Xja 2 days ago (in a no limit area), no joy, but my npc just helped me get my Castle Zvahl Bailey's coffer key for war AF yesterday XD

Beastmaster Solo
# Oct 15 2005 at 7:21 PM Rating: Decent
This guy is incredibly easy. From previous posts i expected it to be easy, but it was much easier than I prepared for. I used my beastmaster, and subbed BLM for warp, glad I did, because i didnt need any whm spells.

At 38 on my BST i entered the BCNM, called CourierCarrie, sent him in, then went in myself with my axe. Carrie kept hate, then when the dragon hit about 66% health my NPC came. Dragon used a TP attack that paralyzed me when I used Sic, but really was no big deal.

Exited the BCNM about 60 hitpoints shy of max and Carrie was at 70% after tanking most of the battle (he lost hate for a few swings when my NPC provoked).

Incredibly easy for a Beastmaster. I'd say a 30 beastmaster would have similar results with Carrie.

SE Have changed a fair amount in the latest update about your fellow. You can now see their health bar above the log window (like a pet). If you target an NPC, it now says the corressponding owner's name (as, with normal pets) also, I wanted to get a different NPC (choose to quit the current task if you wanna do the quest over) so, as I talked to Luto, she gave me a new quest, she wanted me and my fellow to go to Windurst to find another mirror she had heard about. I didn't do the quest, but it is there for anyone to do, so try it out. Oh yeah, you can also chat and trade with your NPC when they have been called.
More NPC info

As I've used my NPC more, I've found a bit more info. Mine is now lvl 36, but I haven't had a chance to change her weapon since I gave her a Claymore at lvl 33. I'm hoping at 37 I can give her another since I have a Platoon Sword just taking up space in my mule's inventory. The next piece of info I have is that you CANNOT call your NPC if you're in a dungeon, which really sucks. I was in Gustav Tunnel PLing a few LS members and I thought it would be a good time to lvl my NPC since they seemed to get more than a few goblin links and I was forced to kill a lot of them, but the Signal Pearl kept telling me that I could not use it in this area. It's kinda crappy in my opinion, so maybe SE will change this in the update schedualed for this month, but only time will tell. Hope this helps.

Soloed it with 35THF/NIN. The dragon didn't even take all of my first cast of utsu till my NPC showed up with +14 eva + blind bolts. I got careless at the end and didn't put utsu back up after my NPC joined up so the dragon took me down to yellow HP. I used Squid Sushi and had 2 hi-potions, none of which was needed. You DO NOT need a party to do this, just a little common sense.

There are Rendezvous (sp?) Points in all of the cities, but I cannot remember off hand which area of each city. I personally only use the one in Ru'lude Gardens which is to the left of the Signet Guard in the corner as you enter the zone. From here you can change your NPCs job type as well as combat messages. It's not a marker you can see off hand, but it appears as mining, harvesting, and logging points do (just go to the corner and start targeting until you find it). The text will appear as a target in green. Just call your NPC and you can make all the changes you need.

When this quest was first implemented the fight was solo only. The line to get in to the BCNM was backed up for MILES. The main reason they changed the fight to allow up to 3 people in was to speed the process up a little. The dragon is still very weak. It's soloable with little trouble by any level 40 job, so unless you want to do this with friends that need to finish the quest, I wouldn't bother going through the trouble of getting a group together. There's no lines anymore. :)

Even when they did change it to a three man fight, there was still a huge line when it came out. I have pictures of how absurd it was.

Ok, I soloed this as a RDM with ease, using nothing but a sword and no gear. The only problem is when I helped an LS buddy with the quest, I couldn't get into the battle. This leads me to believe that you can only do the battle if you haven't done the quest or if you are redoing it. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure this is the case. I've also noticed that you can change your NPCs weapon once they reach lvl 32. They can only accept weapons that are lvl 10 or less and cannot have any additional stats attributed to them. I tried giving my NPC a Deathbringer (GS) first and she wouldn't accept it. I then tried a Butterfly Axe (Gaxe) and she took it right away. It was only my first weapon change for her, so that may change at a later oppertunity. Either way, she is now lvl 32 and has some wicked sweet armor and a Gaxe. BTW, if you don't know already, you don't give the weapon directly to your NPC, you have to give it to the Mithra you talked to to start the quest. I hope this helps everyone that hasn't done the quest yet.

Update: Got my NPC to lvl 33, and another weapon change. Still won't take one with stat boosts, but she's swinging a Claymore now.

I was able to change her "job" after the fourth time I summoned her. I am a PLD so since I can tank and heal I made her an attacker. I want to give her a GtKatana but still haven't been able to do that yet.

About when can you change weapons? I saw a chart somewhere but I can't seem to find it (the link above is broken).

I beat the dragon at 39SAM/18THF in 2:11 and set the record, and it only took 10 hp off me.

This dragon is overrated, I went in, popped Third Eye and Meditate, Tachi: Enpi'ed it, popped Meikyo Shisui, Tachi: Enpi'ed it one time and got SC, whereafter my NPC came in. I Sneak Attack + Tachi: Enpi'd it followed by my last Tachi: Enpi, which finished it off.

Bottom line, this NM is a piece of cake.

I soloed it as a 31 sam lived with only 40 hp but i didnt even have protect or potions to restore hp. So basicly it was just luck although i did use 2 hour and use ws 4+ times. Oh and this is my highest lvl job so u dont have to be 40 to get quest.
