Summary

Luto has recently discovered that another mirror bearing strange properties exists in the world. It is supposedly somewhere in San d'Oria and she wants you to go look for it.

Walkthrough

Part 03 of The Fellowship Quest

Speak with Luto Mewrilah in Upper Jeuno yet again to start this quest. You will now need to go to Cargo Room B in Port San d'Oria and speak with Portaure.

After you are done with this cutscene, proceed to the hut in Ghelsba Outpost (same hut as the one for "Save the Children" San d'Oria Rank Mission, and The Holy Crest.) Once you click on the hut door you will be able to enter the last battle for the Fellowship set of quests. This battle is a BCNM 40 and you are able to take a maximum of 3 people into the battle. Your fellow will jump in about halfway through the battle. You can only bring in players that have not finished the Fellowship quest and require this same BCNM. For each player that enters, an additional Wyvern will spawn.

Once you have completed the battle, return to Upper Jeuno and speak to Luto Mewrilah to finish this quest and get your Signal Pearl to call your fellow.

Okay, managed to solo this with 30WAR/15MNK today with a little planning...
Eisenbrust gear all around, spike necklace as far as armor went.
My game plan was as follows and went very smoothly, (which I was not expecting)
Started by using meat chiefkabob, mnk skill dodge... did not use 2hr until after npc stepped in, kept hate w/ provoke, and stocked up on hi-potions... I bought like 15 and only wound up using about 7-9 of them (which was even a bit excessive as i used them as soon as my hp dropped yellow, as I was a bit nervous XD). Piece of cake, by the time I dropped weapon skill the dragon only had about 1/4 health left anyways. NPC only took one hit, cleared time at 4 mins and 14 seconds... not great, not bad considering the level job i took.

(by the way, I got this formula by failing the first time... tried to take war at 27, 5 hi-potions in stock, came close but I wouldn't recommend the loss of exp to try at this lvl - 30's a safer bet due to physical attack boost, mnk dodge skill, and mnk hp boost)

P.S.(Also, I know it says can't start mission til lvl 30, but I was able to for who knows what reason)
Soloed with 32BLM/16WHM

I just soloed this fight last night with my 32BLM/16WHM. I didn't use any medicines or even foods. I brought a melon pie with me, but forgot to eat it before the fight! >_< In fact, I didn't even have Protect on... forgot that, too! >_<;

I did prep for the fight somewhat, though, with Shock Spikes and Aquaveil, both of which came in pretty handy. I started the fight with an Elemental Seal + Paralyze, which probably was the largest factor that contributed to my win. It seemed to interrupt the dragon's attacks quite frequently. I then hit it with Burn and Shock (now that I think about it I probably should have used Drown to lower its STR, instead of Burn, which lowers INT) both of which also seemed pretty effective.

For attack spells I alternated between Thunder I and Blizzard I, which did between 120-140 damage each, and Stone II and Water II (the only tier 2 elemental attacks I currently have) which did between 210-230 damage each.

My NPC Fellow joined in the fight when the dragon was still at about 75% health. I hadn't expected her to come so soon, as everything I read said they don't show up until it's at 50%. She immediately provoked, but I kept hate for most of the battle. She was doing decent enough damage with her attacks, though, that she did take a few hits herself.

About 3/4 of the way into the fight I had to throw three back-to-back Cure II's on myself and even had to Divine Seal one of them, as my health was getting into the orange. I had about 55 MP left at that point, so I went ahead and popped Manafont just in case, but the dragon had so little HP left that I probably could have won without it. Two or three more attack spells after that, and he went down.

I totally went into this fight expecting to have my backside handed to me... quickly. Everything I had read and heard up to that point said that I wouldn't be able to do it at such a low level, but I was extremely surpised and overjoyed when I won. ^_^d It wasn't the easiest of fights, but at almost no point did I feel like I was completely outmatched - except for a brief moment after it hit me the first couple of times (20-25 damage normal attacks) when I was sure that I would soon be eating dirt.

Given my lack of preparation (I was so excited and not thinking clearly!) it would seem that someone of similar level who actually remembered to throw Protect up and munch down some food would likely be able to defeat it as well with relative ease.

ok i went into this fight as a lvl 30blu/war. i took 3 ether, and 3 hi potions. that fight was pretty easy. i only had to use 2 of the hi potions and no ethers. all in all it was a easy fight.
again, too easy

Went in as a 40drg/war, popped a mithkabob and berserked. Jumped, high jumped, and hit it once and it was already down 2/3 of the way. Hit ancient circle and about that time the cinematic mid battle started. Just swung away after that and finished it with a double thrust. Broke the record on Ifrit at 2 minutes 8 seconds. Always knew that drgs have their moments.
Beat with 30whm/15brd

I just did the dragon as a 30whm/15brd

It was pretty tough and I used 2 Yagudo Drinks, but I managed to beat him.

It came really close at one point. He petrified the npc and was beating on me for like 2-3 minutes.

Did this for NPC.
Went in as capped rng/nin

Friend tossed me a protect2, haste, shell2.
Sharpshot, eagle eye, shadowbind (didn't last for a second), normal /ra. Cutscene, npc comes in. He vokes, barrage, split shot, dragon hits me with a petrify gaze. I stand there like an idiot while my npc keeps whacks it with bronze sword, miss miss hit, win. And I remain petried for minutes, standing outside while my friend cheered me on. Easy as piee.

There are "Rendezvous Point"s in Northern San d'Oria, Port Bastok, Ru'Lude Gardens and Windurst Waters that you can use to talk to your NPC once you have completed "Mirror, Mirror." The one with the easiest-to-find location would have to be in WIndurst Waters, IMO - it's in the grassy area right outside the Mog House.

OMG could this dragon be anymore worthless, I soloed him as a lv 40RNG,
Opened up with Shadowbind, and Eagle-Eye-Shot, useing my gun, then switched to bow for Barrag, and by that time he was down to 25%life, finished him with 3 aarows, and 2 hits from my NPC. ya, cake. he was dead in 1min 52 sec.
he hit me 1 time, and ummm, ya I didn't break the record >.<

Not too tough

Beat this guy on my 2nd try as a 30 WHM/BLM. Needed Yag drinks and a hi-ether. Couldn't paralyze him, but the other debuffs seemed to stick pretty well. Banish II did a surprising amount of damage too. Got luckier 2nd time, he only used petrify once.

Umm, I realize that this is an old post, but felt I had to answer. The quest 'A Job for the Consortium' will fail if you get caught, or use any other means to get to Jeuno. You have to take the airship, even using a chocobo will damage the goods.

dragon fight
# Jul 01 2006 at 12:21 AM Rating: Decent
I soloed this dragon as 39WHM/19BLM easly, this is how the fight went, i casted blink stoneskin and aquaveil first, then i casted bind on it then banish II, water
banish, bind wear off so i engaged it at like 75% health casted banish II, banish then my NPC came in so i hit it while healing my NPC used Divine seal cure II. The dragon petrified my NPC, at this point the dragon was at bout 25% health so i casted Banish II then my mp ran out. So i just kept hitting it till my tp was at 100% i used Earth Crusher. It was dead.
Dragon Was EASY

Try fighting the as 30 Red Mage/Black Mage and failed miserably after using a Tavanzian Taco (stupid LS member's advice) and Pear Aut Lait (more stupid advice) and got petrified and obliterated. Tried again today has 31 Red Mage/Black Mage and here was my gear setup:
Weapon: Centurion's Sword
Sub: Decurion's Shield
Ammo: Fortune Egg
Head: Trader's Chapeau
Neck: Holy Phial
Earrings: 2 Onyx Earrings
Body: Baron's Saio
Hands: Republic Mittens
Rings: Windurstian Ring and Saintly Ring
Back: Cape
Waist: Friar's Rope
Legs: Custom Slacks
Boots: Mage's Solea
Food: Rice Dumpling and Yagudo Drink

Used food, casted Protect II and Regen then casted Dia II, Poison, and Paralyze. Dragon spent most of it's 'life' paralyzed as I laid into it. The NPC jumped in and this is where the only challenge started as she provoked and doesn't have good defense. Cast Protect II on her and Cure II and the battle was over in no time. Used Flat Blade once to try and stop him from using his TP. Hurray for Signal Pearl ^__^

I did it as a level 38 THF. It was really easy because the dragon didn't turn around so I could get behind it and use Sneak Attack.

I'm a 36RDM/18NIN and I just did the skeleton NM and this dragon NM for the signal pearl and they were both really easy to solo. This "40BCNM" way way way easier than the skeleton... and i was petrified during about 40% of the fight!! Dont be scared to try this even at a lower lvl... very easy

I'm a 32 mnk/war with updated gear and subjob.
Can I take this thing solo yet, or should I wait?

By the way, I've heard rumours that you have to have this quest activated (not completed) to fight the dragon.

The other weird one was that if you bring more than one person in at a time (up to 3) theres a dragon for each party member- is this true?
RE: VERY EASY
# Jun 12 2006 at 4:18 PM Rating: Decent
Just soloed this as 32War/16Mnk Galka. Used my 2hr (which is crap compared to mnk 2hr for this fight) and beat the thing with 192hp left. Then I noticed I'd forgotten to eat any food before the fight...if I had I'd probably only be down to 50% hp or so >_<

So for fighting classes, this one should be doable at maybe as low as level 30. Mages...no idea.

And yes, you need this quest activated to fight the dragon...not much in fighting him otherwise.

And yes again, if you party with two others and do this, you'll get a dragon each to fight. This was done due to the HUGE waiting lines when the npc quest was first added. This way, 3 ppl could do it at the same time.

Wow, my title just might be an understatement... I called up an LS buddy to come help, she came as a 75MNK/WAR (I was 30SAM/WAR) and I thought "Alright! No way we'll lose now."

Boy, was I right...

This is how it went:

<insert CS text here>
*Battle start*
Jesimae uses provoke on Namorodo.
Namorodo is out of range.
Tikara (the LS friend) uses Provoke on Namorodo.
Venaxi hits Namorodo for 31 points of damage.
Jesimae hits Namorodo for 19 points of damage.
Namorodo misses Tikara.
Tikara hits Namorodo for 130 points of damage.
Jesimae misses Namorodo.
Namorodo starts casting Aero II.
Tikara hits Namorodo for 106 points of damage.
Namorodo hits Tikara for 7 points of damage.
Tikara uses Boost.
Tikara's attacks are enhanced.
Venaxi misses Namorodo.
Jesimae hits Namorodo for 21 points of damage.
Tikara readies Asuran Fists.
Jesimae: Things seem to be in order here.
Tikara uses Asuran Fists.
Namorodo takes 1041 points of damage.
Tikara defeats namorodo.
Namorodo casts Aero II.
Tikara takes 33 points of damage.
Jesimae: I'll take the child back to Jeuno. Farewell
Venaxi has learned not to tick off Tikara.

Yeah... watch out for those level 75 MNK's... dangerous. XD

so its confirmed, soloing this at 40 is not hard. even though ppl seem to boast about it. w/e

has anyone tried to solo this before 30? I don't have NIN sub, or Mage sub...

At level 24, one persikos, one jack-o-lantern (evasion+) and 5 hi-pts... Will this be enough?

stay tuned
so...
# Jul 01 2007 at 4:12 AM Rating: Decent
Lvl 24 might be a bit low. I'm going as 32rdm/16nin and just bringing 2 hi-pots and 1 hi-ether with me. I'll probably use jack-o-lantern or rice dumplings as food and only put protect 2 and barparalyna on as buffs, then go at it. From the posts above, a 30 warrior in good gear had no problem and since I can own a 35 warrior in Brenner I'm pretty sure I'll have no problem doing this. My advise: get a lil higher maybe 30 then go at it. W/o nin or healer sub this would be really hard at 24. I'll post results with how easy it was for me.
