Walkthrough

Switchstix can upgrade degraded weapons if you bring him the things he wants.

The first upgrade will require:

Fee: Lungo-Nango Jadeshell x5

The Relic Staff is a drop from Dynamis - Jeuno. Lancewood Lumber is crafted from Lancewood Logs which drop in Dynamis - Windurst or Dynamis - Beaucedine (99 Woodworking skill) or bought with 25 Lungo-Nango Jadeshells from an Goblin NPC in Castle Oztroja. Trade the four items and payment in Jadeshells to Switchstix and he will upgrade it to a Sage's Staff. You will need to wait one game day.

Switchstix says that beastmen enjoy the weapons we make and so wants you to bring him some of them so he can sell them to others.

The second upgrade will require:

Fee: One Hundred Byne Bill x16

Trade the four staves to Switchstix. He will upgrade the Sage's Staff to the Dynamis Staff. This will take about 1 week Earth time.

The third upgrade will require:

Fee: Montiont Silverpiece x62

The Attestation drops in Dynamis - Beaucedine. Trade the attestation, the Sage's Staff, and the currency to Switchstix to obtain the Thyrus. The Thyrus will allow you to use the special weapon skill Gate of Tartarus, but only in Dynamis areas. This will take exactly 82 hours after it's traded in.

The fourth upgrade will require:

Fee: Rimilala Stripeshell x1

The Celestial Fragment can be obtained from beating the Animated Staff in Dynamis - Xarcabard.

Trade your Thyrus, your fragment, your Necropsyche, and your currency to the crater in Ifrit's Cauldron to obtain a cutscene, your Claustrum, and 30 Lungo-Nango Jadeshells.

The Relic Weapons do not drop in Dynamis - Beaucedine. At all. Only cities can drop the stage 1 weapons. However, it is correct that the relic staff DOES drop in Dynamis - Jeuno. And before anyone tells me that "just because you haven't seen it, doesn't mean it doesn't drop", I've done enough Dynamis runs in my gametime to KNOW this. I've seen literally ZERO weapons in Beaucedine, let alone AF half the time (that does drop however, and it's the Level 74 AF2s ONLY, the lv 71-73 AF2s drop in cities ONLY).

The information for staff to be fully upgraded, since I'm posting that above, might as well include it:

Relic Staff -> Sage's Staff:

Lancewood Lumber x1
Pigeon's Blood x1
Urushi
L. Jadeshell x5

Sage's Staff -> Dynamis Staff:
Ash Staff
Elm Staff
Mahogany Staff
100 Byne Bill x16

Dynamis Staff -> Thyrus:
Attestation of Virtue (Drops from Dagourmarche NM in Dynamis - Beaucedine)
M. Silverpiece x62

Thyrus -> Claustrum:
Celestial Fragment (Drops from Animated Staff in Dynamis - Xarcabard)
Necropsyche (Drops from Vanguard Dragons in Dynamis - Xarcabard)
R. Stripeshell

No, I'm not upgrading this weapon, not even close to considering it anymore. I used to think about it, but upgrading maul for my WHM seems to be more worthwhile, since I love to melee on WHM for fun (NOT in exp parties, etc, let's not get into that discussion ;) ). Honestly seems barely worth the hassle that it offers for BLMs and SMNs. If it offered a huge Magic Attack Bonus on nukes and free avatars no matter what (and any extra refresh you get from gear/job trait which'd be 2mp/tic) on SMN, then it'd be more worth it.

Lots of wrong info

You get the Thyrus at the 4th stage. This is what is used, along with a Rimlala Stripeshell and the said fragment(R.Stripeshell, not mentioned in the writeup), to get the Claustrum.
I'm working on stage 4 myself :)

Stage 4 also requires 62 M.Silverpeices, which also is not mentioned in this writeup.

the stage 2 ->3 upgrade takes exactly one week from the time you turn the items in. it is NOT "over the next CP update" as some might believe.

A lot of this information is inaccurate.

Celestial Fragment is not found in Ifrit's Caouldron, it is dropped from Animated Staff in Dynamis-Xarcabard.

The only event that occurs in Ifrit's Cauldron, is when the Celestial Fragment is traded to a blank target in the zone, along with the Thyrus and currency.

(Also, the third upgrade uses Dynamis Staff, not Sage's Staff. This is the result of stage 2.)
i need clarification >.>

1st turns relic staff into sage's staff...ok
2nd turns Sages staff into Dynamis...
3rd it says sages staff is again used...? is it actually the dynamis staff to thyrus in the 3rd upgrade? or do you have to get another relic staff, make a sage's and then use it to get a thyrus? i don't like checking other websites for this stuff >.> i like this one....

Im pretty sure its a typo as far as i know each relic weapon is traded in through each stages of development, i have not yet heard of having to trade in two relic weapons and im not 100% sure since i dont have one yet but i think they may be rare or rare/ex i think you can only have one at a time. You may want some more opinions on this but for some reason it sticks out in my head as a rare/ex. Hope this helps Good Luck!!

Very informative, yes. But you say the Celestial Fragment can be found in Ifrit's Cauldron -- but where??

The item itself says you can get it in Dynamis-Xarcabard. Which is it?
