Summary

Luto has recently discovered that another mirror bearing strange properties exists in the world. It is supposedly somewhere in San d'Oria and she wants you to go look for it.

Walkthrough

Talk to Luto Mewrilah in Upper Jeuno. She asks that you find out information about the broken mirror from previous quests and sends you to the Optistery in Windurst to find a book on it. Go to the Optistery in Windurst Waters (north map) and speak with Tosuka-Porika (G-8) to get a cutscene involving Ritopopo, who is researching the mirrors of legend. Ritopopo has just found the information you seek and is unwilling to give it up. But, she's hungry. In order to share her information she asks you rather slyly to bring Tosuka-Porika the following:

After trading the items to Tosuka-Porika you will receive another cutscene and some information that you take back to Luto Mewrilah in Upper Jeuno. You receive another cutscene in Upper Jeuno and a suggestion by your fellow to find Palometa. Go to Port Jeuno and find Khumo Daramasteh (J-8) near the entryway to the Kazham airship docks and speak with her. Another cutscene follows with more information revealing a deeper plot... Reward is: Your feel your bond for friendship strengthening with your fellow.

some more info on this quest...
# Nov 30 2005 at 12:28 PM Rating: Decent
A few remarks regarding this quest..

- The NPC in Windurst Waters, Optistery, is Tosuka-Porika at (G-8).

- You should be able to activate this quest after having called your NPC 20 to 25 times, and after the second weapon upgrade.

- The reward, 'strengthening of bond of friendship between you and your fellow' results in more ways to customize your NPC. When talking to him/her at the meeting point (i.e. Ru'Lude Gardens) you can now change his/her appearance. For now, after this quest, the only thing you can change is headgear. The type of headgear suggested most likely depends on the active combat style. Mine is Healer type and suggested a faceguard. I expect that more calls and further quests will allow you to change your NPC's appearance even more.

There is no reduction in recharge time on the pearl. I haven't tested yet if he stays around longer than 15 critters or 45 minutes (but I hope so. ^^)
what does it do

I was able to trigger the next quest with your NPC shortly after getting her to lvl 42. As with the other posts, I don't think level has anything to do with it. I believe it has to do with how often you use your NPC. Anyway, the next quest is called "Blighted Gloom" and Luto asks you to go to Korrolak Tunnel <sp> and find some Vitrallum that can be obtained from defeating a "rare slime" to be used to repair the mirror. As with most quest NMs, I assumed that this jelly was a forced pop from a ???, and surprizingly I was correct. The ??? can be found in the Bogy area near the Western Atelpa Dessert zone (near the place you need to go for the NIN quest) at the point where F-9/10 and G-9/10 all intersect. There are two ??? in this area, so if the first one doesn't work, try the one on the other side of the area. When you target the ???, you will get a cutscene where your NPC will arrive, then the NM spawns. It's named "Metallic Slime" and was a pushover at lvl 62. After defeating him, target the ??? again to receive your Key Item: Vitrallum. Return this to Luto and she will then ask you to bring her back some water from a "spring with a surface as smooth as glass." The little girl, Palomita, or whatever her name is, shows up and tells a story that her father told her about what could be the two mirrors, but it gives little to no insight as to where the "spring" may be. Luto hints that water near the source is usually the clearest but I have no idea what to make of this. That's about all I have for now, so if anyone knows where to find this "spring," I'd greatly appreciate the help.

update: After running around thru every zone I can think of that has a lake, pond, or spring, I can now eliminate Maiden's Spring in Jugner Forrest, The Ephemere in La Theine, the Oasis' in both East and West Atelpa, and all of Ordelle's Cave from areas possibly having a "spring with a surface as smooth as glass." Really thought I had it with Jugner too, but it looks like the hunt is on again.

another update: Thanks to Techno's post, I was able to confirm that after entering Jugner Forrest thru the King's Tomb, there is a ??? on the ground that leads to a pretty interesting cutscene and the completion of the quest. As with the first one, the reward is the same, and Amangi was correct in stating that my interpretation of the reward was incorrect. Thank you both for straightening everything out and good luck to everone on the quest.

You need to visit Jugner Forest by going through King Ranperre's Tomb. There is a ??? on the ground near the lake.

Well, I haven't done this quest yet, and the recast on my pearl is 20hours, so the reward you listed is wrong.

I've been trying to get this quest for a while now, but everytime I talk to Luto she says there is nothing new come back later. I have my npc and she is level 35, from what I hear it's not the level. Does anyone know if the requirement to get this quest is fame or the number of times you called your npc? TY in advance.
ok - what's next?
# Nov 06 2005 at 12:36 AM Rating: Decent
My NPC is level 30, and I got this quest, so the person who said it needs to be lvl 37 is mistaken. This was a very easy quest to do. But what I would like to know is this - how do you trigger the next quest? There's no indication of how to trigger it, so I would like to know if someone can share that.
can't get it

okey i got the quest from Luto Mewrilah but i don't get the cutscene when i talked to Hariga-Origa .. does that mean i need windy's fame?

Like it has been said several posts earlier by kotoludi :

"You speak with Tosuka-Porika at (G-8) to start the Ritopopo cutscene."

in fact, i think Hariga-Origa should be replaced by Tosuka-Porika everywhere (giving the 6 items for instance)
how to get

Your NPC has to be atleast Lv. 37 to start this quest.

Hi this is Aurianna;
My NPC is level 31 & i did this quest having used her 23 times so the NPC's level is irrelevant, just like giving him/her weapons. It's the amount that you utalize the NPC.

Got it at 32 here; I believe the prerequisite may be number of times called (I've called him at least 15 times)
RE: how to get
# Oct 31 2005 at 7:14 PM Rating: Decent
I would say this is true but my NPC is only 34 and I got the quest.
Why can't I get this quest?
# Oct 27 2005 at 3:28 AM Rating: Decent
I'm rank 5. I've finished mirror, mirror. I've called the npc fellow once. How soon after mirror mirror did you do this quest? Is it my jeuno fame, the level of the npc or something else?
I forgot something...

Doing those promyvion quest also give xp to your bpc. Like the eco warrior quest for players. :) hope you like it!!

Question.. anyone of you know of a spring with the water still like ice. and that could be found in something like a forest??

That would help me a lot in the next quest i have to do.

Thanks and see ya all.
About Promyvion...
# Oct 27 2005 at 12:03 AM Rating: Excellent
This quest (I think) is a starting point for big change. I have done it. My npc is lvl 43 now and i also got a new one not included here in Allakhazam. But the point is. after doing that quest, when you ask your npc about quest at RP, she'll sometimes ask you to help her investigate some disturbance inside promyvion.
There is a rendez vous point inside at entrance and the quest is a search ???
The reward is a special pearl to call your npc 4 time, with a time reset of 10 min.
I think you can do that 1 time for each promyvion.

I hope it help!

My NPC has been called out maybe around 10 times, leveling it slowly to 32, and I've already been given the option to change weapons twice. After my last call, I finally got this quest to activate (before, Luto would always tell me "nothing new" when I spoke to her). Just so you know that the NPC doesn't have to be high level or have been called out too often before this quest becomes active.

If you're wondering where's the best place to buy this food: (price will reflect fame, mine is hero+. availability may reflect nationality and regional conquest. Right now Windy is in first and Sandy in last place; I'm Bastokan):

-loaf of white bread (can buy at Jeuno Marble Bridge restaurant for 200 gil. windy AH: 1100 gil)

- whitefish stew (can buy at Timbers Tavern for 6064 gil, windy AH: 4000 gil)

- windy salad (can buy at Timbers Tavern for 1711 gil or Jeuno Marble Bridge for 1860 gil. windy AH: 4000 gil)

- bison steak (windy AH: 30k gil, jeuno AH 25k)

-icecap rolanberry (Jeuno Merry Minstrel tavern for 5544 gil, jeuno AH: 15k)

-Sandy tea (didn't see any in Sandy taverns, but Sandy was last place; 3k at jeuno AH, 2k at Sandy AH)

btw:
Can i give my NPC a better weapon?
I don't mean another sort of weapon.
I want that she fights with Shield and Sword, but she is still using this Low Level Sword, which doesn't make much damage.

Just to offer my experience, once my NPC achieved level 34 I was able to choose whether he wore headgear or not. At level 35 I was able to get this quest from Luto. I check the Rendezvous Point and Luto following every exp session with my NPC. I haven’t finished this quest yet, but my guess about the reward “Your feel your bond of friendship strengthening with your fellow” is your NPC will probably stay and earn more exp per session.

So why isnt Luto giving me this quest? Does my NPC need to be a certain level or what? No info about this is available, so Im just confused now >.<
Where the food goes
# Oct 25 2005 at 5:41 PM Rating: Good
The description above is incorrect. You don't give the food to "Hariga-Origa", you give it to "Tosuka-Porika".

I've sent in a correction.

The piece that they wear I think varies by NPC race and gender or something. Mine's a female Elvaan who can use a circlet.

Anyways...To get the option, you need to have a pretty good friendship with your NPC which you can normally improve by calling them out and fighting with them for a session and etc.

You'll know you'll have gotten the option when the Change Apperance (Pre-Maintenance)/Talk About Armor >> Headgear (Post-Maintenance) is added onto your list from when you check the r.point.

As you see in the reward, it's a increase to the friendship.

I haven't done this quest yet, so I am wondering something. I saw someone with their NPC in Promyvion Holla the other day...does completing this quest allow you to bring your NPC into Promyvion...or is it something else?

according to what i have been told you can call this NPC to fight with you anywhere you have 5 or less people in your party, or when you are solo.

They expanded the areas an npc can be called to (I assume most dungeons) but there are still some areas you cannot call them to. I tried to call mine last night in a skill up pt in Ru'Aun Gardens and got the message that he could not be summoned to there.

bond

am i right in in thinking that the bond between you and your npc effects if thisquest can be activated? i am currently unable to activate it, my npc is 34 but i used to throw the pearl to get a second one to exp faster but after reading that this lowers npc trust and thus gives less options at the rendezvous point i stopped tossing it. i can only assume this is why i cant flag the quest as i have hero fame all over vanadiel.

Just to let everyone know, this quest does not activate the use of headgear. I have the quest acive but have yet to complete it, but I can choose for my NPC to wear a green ribbon or not. I think everyone assumes this quest activates that because they didnt check for it before finishing the quest. Silly people XD

I decided to take the time and complete this yesterday morning. After completing it, I can choose my level 34 NPC to wear a circlet or nothing at all. From the sounds of the previous posts, it seems as if maybe we have the choice to let her wear headgear or not. Maybe more choices will be available when the NPC levels now that the option is open.

Not sure what all the "bond-strengthening" implies, but after completing this quest, I can change my NPC's headgear at the rendezvous point. I can now switch my lil' taru between an Iron Mask and nothing at all.

For reference, my NPC is currently level 38, and Iron Mask/Nothing is the only choice he gives me. I would guess that further quests will allow you to change the rest of his/her equipment ( I should hope so, my NPC switches between the level 11 Doublet and his starting RSE -_- ).
