Mission Orders

Gather information on San d'Oria and Windurst.
The Bastokan consulates in those two countries will provide you with a detailed briefing.

Walkthrough

Speak to any Bastokan Gate Guard to accept this mission. The Gate Guard will spend you to speak with Naji at (J-8) in the Metalworks, near the President's Office. A cutscene will play and they will escort you to President Karst. You will then be able to ask him questions about various topics and once you are done he will ask you to head to San d'Oria or Windurst.

Visit San d'Oria First

If you choose to visit the Bastok Consulate in San d'Orian first, head to (K-10) of Northern San d'Oria. Enter the Bastok Consulate and speak to Helaku. He will send you to speak with Halver in the Chateau d'Oraguille, north of the Bastok Consulate.

Halver will then send you to Ghelsba Outpost. To get there, take the northwestern exit of West Ronfaure. Once there, your task is to defeat Warchief Vatgit. The Warchief is at the top of Ghelsba Outpost (H-7). After defeating the Warchief, return to Northern San d'Oria to speak with Helaku again.

Helaku will now send you to the Bastok Consulate at (E-5) in Port Windurst. Once you arrive, speak to Melek, who represents the Bastok Consulate. Melek will send you to Heaven's Tower in Windurst Walls. In Heaven's Tower, you will need to speak to Kupipi to receive the Dark Key Key Item. After obtaining the Dark Key, travel to West Sarutabaruta, where you will find the entrance to the Giddeus. Once inside Giddeus, head to Balga's Dais. Here, you will face two monsters (see the The Emissary Spoilers page for more information).

Note:A full party of level 25s is suggested if this is your first time.

After defeating the monsters, return to Port Windurst and speak to Melek again. He will give you a Kindred report Key Item to take back to Bastok. Return to the Metalworks and speak to Naji again, who will reward you with 3000 gil and Rank 3.

Visit Windurst First

If you choose to visit the Bastok Consulate in Windurst first, head to (E-5) of Port Windurst. Speak to Melek, who will send you to Heaven's Tower in Windurst Walls. Once inside Heaven's Tower, speak to Kupipi. Kupipi will give you a Sword offering Key Item to give to the Yagudo as a peace tribute. Take the Magical Sword back to the Bastok Consulate in Port Windurst and speak with Gold Skull, a Galka, located in the 2nd room to your right. He will exchange the Sword offering for a Dull blade.

The offering to the Yagudo must be taken to the Treasure Room, which is located in the tunnels of Giddeus at (F-7). The Treasure Room is guarded by Uu Zhoumo, a Yagudo. Speak to Uu Zhoumo and he will tell you that you weapon is not a good enough offering, and that he'd rather have the blade used by Eyy Mon the Ironbreaker. Eyy Mon is a Notorious Monster that spawns at (G-7), not far from where you are. Eyy Mon will drop an Aspir Knife 100% of the time. Trade the knife to Eyy Mon to complete this part of the mission, then return to the Bsatok Consulate in Port Windurst and speak to Melek, who will send you to the Bastok Consulate in San d'Oria.

The Bastok Consulate is located at (K-10) of Northern San d'Oria. Speak to Helaku who will send you to speak with Halver in the Chateau d'Oraguille, which is seated north of the Bastok Consulate. Halver will tell you to head to the Yughott Grotto, deep within Ghelsba Outpost. Once inside the grotto, you must head to the Horlais Peak, where you will enter a Burning Circle fight against two monsters (see the The Emissary Spoilers page for more information).

Note: A full party of level 25 players is recommended if this is your first time doing this mission.

After defeating the monsters, return to Northern San d'Oria and speak to Helaku again. He will give you a Kindred report Key Item to take back to Bastok. Return to the Metalworks and speak to Naji again, who will reward you with 3000 gil and Rank 3.

Titles Awarded

  • Warcheif Wrecker - awarded after killing Warcheif Vatghit.
  • Black Dragon Slayer - awarded after killing the Windurstian monster.
  • Dread Dragon Slayer - awarded after killing the San d'Orian monster.
  • Certified Adventurer - awarded after finishing this mission completely and returning to Bastok for Rank 3.

YAWN

# Feb 21 2004 at 1:31 PM Rating: Default
extremely easy fight-
Ninja, 2 thieves, 2 WHM, BLM.

one WHM forgot to do quest so he couldnt zone in
we made the dragon sleep, took seeker, tehn sneak attacked the dragon, he died fast. we set the record for Fenrir in the time to beat him with only 5 people.
Even though the guy could not enter the arena, he still got the title Black Dragon Slayer. So just by being there you get the title, good if you want a level 1 n00b to be a Dread Dragon Slayer :P
Did the Black Dragon (windurst) tonight...

with a sub-par group.

25WAR/PLD, 25RDM/WHM, 25RDM/BLM, 25MNK/WAR, 25MNK/WAR (who was a naked dumbass and summarily did nothing, so we really only had 5 people), 19WHM/BLM.

It was a breeze.

Sleep the searcher (eye monster), take down the dragon. Use silence on the dragon, it wore off for us once, and cursed the warrior (who summarily died, as her max HP was a whopping 80). Still finished the mobs off pretty easily. Note that CureII was more than sufficient for this, our WHM had over half his MP left (he did drink melon juice a few seconds into it though). Melees used their 2hrs, casters didnt need to. Our WHM didnt even need to use DS, although I'm pretty sure one of the RDM used ES for the initial sleep on the searcher.
Kindred Crest
# Feb 18 2004 at 7:08 AM Rating: Default
I have not been able to get rank 3. I have killed the warcheif, and the black dragon. I have an item called the Kindred Crest. Who do I need to give this item to? I have spoken to all the consulates in Sandoria, Windurst, and Bastok. I have also spoken to the guards in front of the president's office in each region. Please, someone help me get my rank 3.
Not perfect, but good enough
# Feb 17 2004 at 7:14 PM Rating: Default
This sites information isnt always perfect, but they give you the basic jist of things, enough to get to the end anyway. So if you just follow the basics of what information the do give, you should be fine, children that "cant read good" and retards excluded.

Our group tried last night against the Dread Dragon. Much is the story about here, we hopped in with two hours ready, but alas, but had no luck.

Four party memembers:

1.) 23WAR/11THF Hume
2.) 20WAR/10WHM Mithra
3.) 20MNK/10RDM Hume
4.) 22RDM/11WHM Tarutaru

I was, naturally, the healer of the group. And that's all I did. And our hume tank NEEDED IT! Some of the hits he was soaking were prodigious at worst. Just terrifying. But we did a massive good job of it, and slew the Dread Dragon..

Then his buddy came in, and decided he was going to join the frey, to.. he used Curse on me, and I had already run dry of magic, then tore apart the rest of the crew. We lost with less then a few millimeters on the demon-guys life bar.

We're going back tonight to finish the job. ;)

Did you automatically level down after being killed by the dragon, cause I heard that you automatically do if you don't kill it?

Do "Wading Creature". Buy a lizard egg at AH cheap and give it to the fella inside the president's mansion (left room). Then it'll be available.

I'm currently a 20 thf with 8 whm or 7 war to sub and have half this mission completed (I'm on my way to Windurst via Jeuno). Should I even fight the dragon now (and level in Qufim) or go do with other players, and with whom? And anyone on Siren server is welcome to help :)

# Jan 22 2004 at 2:42 AM Rating: Default
Ok.. I did the windurst part first, then went into San d'Oria and talked to the Bastok Consul.. then I headed to the place he told me to go, and all that the guy in there says is someone is supplying the orcs.. he gives me no key or nothing.. don't you have to have a key to kill this thing??? Help PLEASE.
RE: What the hell?!?!
# Feb 02 2004 at 12:47 PM Rating: Default
You have to go to the Chateau'd Owhatever and talk to Halver whos staring at u when u enter. Then you should be able to fight the dragon, I didnt do that before and I got to the circle and it just says its sealed with a curse.
RE: What the hell?!?!
# Jan 23 2004 at 11:27 AM Rating: Default
No, you do not need a key for the San d'Orian dragon, according to my knowledge, that only applies to the Windurstian dragon, just go to the burning circle in the grotto, it should let you in.
Problem
# Jan 22 2004 at 1:41 AM Rating: Default
OK I experiencing difficulties advancing to the next missions. I'm a lv 23 bkm/lv6 whm and every time I talk to Cleade, he will only offer the Fetichism mission. I did that mission about 3 times, and clearly got to rank 2. Plus it's listed as complete under my mission log. However I must complete it again to get the Crystal Line mission, and yet again for the next mission. I also spoke with Neji, and no cut-scene occurs, so I can't get to the Emissary mission. Could someone please help!

Rather than repeat Fetichism, you can just trade crystals to the guards to gain rank points so you can advance to the next mission. Stacks of earth crystals work very well.
Horrible Beast mission

I am looking for a 20-25 party who need to complete this mission or would like to help kill this damn Dread Dragoon on Giddeus (mission is cap at 25).

Its impossible to find a party around Giddeus that would accept to help (or can actually help).
So boring to be stucked there... >:)

Anybody in Diabolos that need or want to help kill these 25 nm, on the 17th or 18th of Januray please leave me a message so that we can set a RV in Windurst or in Giddeus.

Many Thanks

there is no minimum level in reality for this quest. I have taken it on at level 6 no other job higher. Now i haven't finished it that low but technically i could if i rounded up a crew of 4 or 5 level 25's or so with 2hr's ready as my friend beat it with 3 people in the pt.
We did it.
# Jan 12 2004 at 12:16 AM Rating: Default
well, the group I was with just killed the dragon.

We had a lvl 25 Thf/13 War
lvl 25 WHM/13 BLM
Lvl 24 War/7 MNK

we went in with two hours. I started with my two hour Perfect Dodge and went after Dragon while the 24 went after searcher.

After my two hour was up we switched targets and he used his Mighty Strikes on the dragon and I finished off the Searcher.

Our WHM used benediction and we managed to voke the monsters off of him. We barely survived the conflict. Our lvl 24 buddy died... he had a hard time targeting the dragon on the switch. Overall we had a fun time doing it. I would suggest using more then 3 guys. But it can be done without.
