Summary

The mercenary company "Salaheem's Sentinels" has asked you to help recruit new members.

Walkthrough

Talk to Ajithaam in Upper Jeuno (F-5) by the exit to Batallia Downs and he will pin the key item: White Sentinel Badge on you and request that you talk to various people in Jeuno to recruit for his mercenary group in Aht Urhgan.

Check the badge to get coordinates for the people you should talk to in each area. When you speak to the correct person, you will receive a message that your badge flashes brightly. After speaking with everyone for the quest, return to Ajithaam and receive your White Invitation Card.

Locations are in Giant Loop from Ru'Lude Gardens to Port Jeuno, then back up to Upper Jeuno. Enter your Mog House in Ru'Lude Gardens and work your way back to Upper Jeuno.

Upper Jeuno

  • Sibila-Mobla (G-7) - outside M&P Market
  • Shiroro (G-8) - in a house
  • Luto Mewrilah (G-8) - northwest of the Temple of the Goddess
  • Renik (H-9) - northeast of the Temple of the Goddess
  • Hinda (H-9) - inside the Temple of the Goddess

Lower Jeuno

Port Jeuno

  • Red Ghost (G-8) - paces between the Bastok and San d'Oria Airship dock
  • Karl (H-8) - all three kids show badges
  • Shami (H-8) - outside San d'Oria Airship dock
  • Rinzei (I-8) - by the Windurst Airship dock
  • Sagheera (I-8) - by the Windurst Airship dock

Ru'Lude Gardens

When you are done speak to Ajithaan again and he will give you another key item: White Invitation Card.

Also, once you have completed this quest, this NPC will be able to teleport you directly into Whitegate. Simply trade 300gil and off you go!

Maybe with the jeuno invite you will be able to access the new area via the Inn in lower jeuno.
just finished all 4 of the quests

ok i dont know if this will be very important or not but when i just finished the one in sandy Amutiyaal said "in return, i shall award you this bauble. it will come in handy for when you join the ranks of the Aht Urhgan mercenaries! obtained key item: Red invitation card.

I might just be going off on that tangent with this one. But I remember when I finished the Mirror Images quest for the NPC fellowship, Lute did talk about some magic bauble. Might be a connection might not. Just an idea.

A couple of people have mentioned that they have completed the Lure of the Wildcat (Bastok). I can't find anything out about the Bastok one. Who is the quest giver?
RE: Bastok Quest Giver

You have to have CoP installed and registered, and the NPC is this taru dude in Port Bastok in front of the fountain near Residential Area.
Their badge flashes?
# Mar 04 2006 at 10:24 PM Rating: Decent
Does anyone know the significance of the NPC's badge flashing brightly? I know mine does for each of the contacts, but usually just one of the NPC's will flash also.

I hope I wasn't supposed to keep track of who, because I'm sure I missed some of them...

looking at the description of Assault, the section of "Unfought Battles" (or Battles Unfought, whichever it is), i'd have to say these cards will let you do the mercenary work, which is probably closely associated to this new Assault thing.

I started doing this quest and I talked to all the NPC's but shiroro in upper jeuno wil not make my badge glow. Therefore I am unable to complete this quest in jeuno. Has any one else encountered this problem? If so, did you figure out how to get around it? Thank You

speak to all the NPCs one more time, you may have simply not given one of them the chance to finish saying all they had to say.
You NEED to listen to everything they have to say, simply having the badge glow is not sufficient. Make sure to speak to them repeatedly until they change the subject or start repeating themselves.

I wonder if these quests are what allow you to participate in Assault, similar to the ballista license. Since the quests mention mercenaries, and the description of assault mentions mercenaries. . .

I didn't see this posted anywhere, so here is the walkthrough for the red card from Sandy. I just completed it (yay!) Hope this helps!

******THIS IS FOR THE SANDY RED CARD, NOT JEUNO******
Lure of the Wildcat (Sandy)
Start NPC: Amutiyaal (L-6) by fountain

Talk to Amutiyaal and he will give you a Red Badge and tell you to spread the word around Sandy. Here are the NPCs you need to find and talk to:

Southern San d'Oria:
(K-5) Daggao (Galka inside Lion Spring's Tavern)
(J-9) Authere (kid by tree)
(I-8) Rouva (by tree)
(I-8) Femitte (next to Rouva by tree)
(G-8) Deraquien (by tree)

Northern San d'Oria:
(I-9) Giaunne (by fountain)
(J-8) Anilla (by lightpost)
(J-8) Maloquedil (by tree)
(H-8) Phairupegiont (looking out over moat by railing)
(E-4) Bertenont (outside Royal Armoury)

Chateau d'Oraguille:
(I-9) Halver (just inside entrance)
(I-9) Curilla (Temple Knight Quarters)
(H-9) Rahal (Royal Knight Quarters)
(H-7) Perfaumand (guarding Prince Royal's quarters)
(F-7) Chalvatot (Queen Leaute's grave)

Port San d'Oria:
(H-10) Parcarin (above AH)
(J-8) Rugiette (merchant inside magic shop)
(H-8) Cherlodeau (old guy watching kids)
(H-8) Pomilla (Lady near Cherlodeau)
(G-7) Perdiouvilet (inside Rusty Anchor Pub)

After you have talked to everyone, return to Amutiyaal and talk to him again. He will take the Red Badge from you and give you a Red Invitation Card (key item.)

um...no. they said it'll be available w/o RotZ or CoP. ToAU is needed for the new jobs.

Requirement to finish it ?
# Feb 25 2006 at 11:13 AM Rating: Decent
I was seeking in Jeuno and I decided to try this quest. It's fast to do, and was at first pretty fun; but when I cam back to Ajithaam, nothing happened... I checked again all the guys I had to talk to (5 per zone) and still nothing, he keeps telling me more people are joining them.

I don't have done the Super Soup Pot quest one of the npc is speaking of, is it why I can't finish it ?
RE: Requirement to finish it ?
# Apr 16 2006 at 9:03 PM Rating: Decent
Same problem with not being able to finish here also. Wrote the positions down, marked them off as I found the people. I went through the log, and verified that I got each one, but can't finish the quest. I have the Windurst one already done,. Bastok open, havn't started Sandy yet. Looks like it's either an issue with the quest, or it's got a little trick to it.

Update:
I went back and talked to poeple a second time, Hinda in Upper Jeuno repeated her badge flashing and speach. I talked to her a third time, so she went back to her normal speach, then was able to finish.

Morea hasn't even remotely started the soup pot quest, and the NPC still acknowledged the badge flash.

My only suggestion is double check all the NPCs. If possible, print out the lists and check off whoever you talk to. When I was doing the Windurst quest, I couldn't figure out for the life of me why it wouldn't finish until I realized that the guard waaaaay down the ways in Windurst Waters was missed.

This IS to do with the expansion.

This is taken from the website in the Key NPC section.

"President of the mercenary company "Salaheem's Sentinels," Naja Salaheem has a quick eye for profit and gives constant attention to her company's earnings. "Gil makes the world go 'round" is her motto."

It does seem to be like Tenshodo. Maybe the two are rivals?
RE: Expansion
# Feb 25 2006 at 3:28 PM Rating: Decent
I have done all four areas on this quest and there are several statements and comments that lead me to believe there is a common link or at least a mutual respect between the groups. The Galka in the Tenshodo in Jeuno is blocking the door to an airship dock. I sure hope they are linked and that the only passage isnt Mahura!

im pretty sure its the first part for the blue mage quest. thinking cuz theres one in jeuno and one in windy, those are the quests for corsair and blue mage. I havnt gone to windy yet but because this npc in jeuno is wearing blue mage gear, i would think he was the blue mage guy. Im heading to windy now, ill let u know if hes wearing corsair gear when i get there

EDIT: nope sry i was wrong windy is blue mage too

The quests are for "Salheem's Sentinels", which are a rogue mercenary group that are in a shakey allegiance with the Empire of Aht Urghan. Seeings how Blue Mages are part of the royal Imperial Guard (known as "The Immortals"), it is highly unlikely that this is for the Blue Mage quest and is, in all probability, to become a 'mercenary' (i.e. explore Aht Urghan).

Also, dunno who you're talking to, but having done all four quests none of the NPCs look anything like the Blue Mage AF. The only person in Vana'diel who remotely comes close to looking like anything Blue Mage are the ones who deal with Brenner/Diorama (Tillcoe and...new guy).

It's wishful thinking that this is bringing us closer to being a BLU, but chances are this is only to bring us to the land where we can quest to become BLU.

# Feb 25 2006 at 7:15 PM Rating: Decent
They are both wearing the Sha'ir set (Bard lvl 72 JSE set),it's far from the Blue mage AF that's shown on the new expension previews

The red version that the jeuno npc is wearing was added with the Limbus update. This set can be obtains by trading limbus currency to the npc in port jeuno and its rare/ex

Close, but not quite. The red version of the sha'ir set (the brd jse), called Nashira, is obtained by going through the Temenos limbus zones and defeating Proto-Ultima, not by trading in Ancient Beastcoins.

RE: woah
# Feb 25 2006 at 9:34 AM Rating: Decent
lol yea it seems kinda odd that such an easy quest would get u something that was so hard to get before. also abjurations make some of the best equip in the game so it would kinda seem rediculous to make it so much easier to get

EDIT: ya i just finished it, confirmed it only gives u the white invitation card
