Summary

Alcander and Ahaadah want you to help Tinga-Matonga become a respectable citizen.

Walkthrough

Recommended level and party: 6 level 60+ or 3 level 75.

Talk to Ahaadah at the Philosopher's Alley in Aht Urhgan Whitegate to begin this quest.

After this go to (I-11) in Port Al Zahbi (Southern Port). Under the half shack roof you will get another cutscene.

A third cutscene is right on the path above the shack, at (I-12) at the end of the path.

After this, you are sent to find Alcander in Bhaflau Thickets. He is found at (I-8) by clicking on the ???. After another cutscene, a NM Plague Chigoe pops. It's a MNK type mob and hits hard and fast. Kill the NM and check the ??? again.

Return to Ahaadah back in town to receive your reward.

Solo-ed as 75 BLM/RDM
# Apr 01 2008 at 6:57 PM Rating: Decent
I soloed this with blm/rdm. I had full buffs in but it did not matter TOO much.

The mob does NOT aggr on the spot after clicking the "???". you have some time to maximize distance and cast gravity. I had to sleep II (without ES) and rest for 200 mp or so. The last nuke Aero IV resisted, and my mp went down to 15, while the mob's hp went down to 1%. I tried to cast Drain (at 21 mp after a few ticks of refresh from black cloak), but he HITS me and DRAINED ALL my mana. Good thing gravity was still there, i kited it a lil and used Hi-Ether. Of course I could've just 2-h and killed it easily though.

all in all easy fight, sleepable mob, just DON"T LET IT HIT YOU because OOM'd BLM = dead BLM.

75 ELV PLD/RDM SOLO

just finished off this lil punk. his hundred fists or w/e you wanna call is pretty crazy since it has drain mp. i thought it was gonna be a problem since it was sucking my mp even with stoneskin but this is where blaze spikes comes in handy. stoneskin + phalanx + sentinel will make you invincible for a good while as the flee will basically kill it self with blaze spikes which did 9 dmg per hit. i was drained of all my mp before i was taking dmg so no cures. it was at 50% when it started going off on me with pokes for 6-7 dmg with a once in a while 13-24 smack. i was able to do 3 vorpal blades 2 for 400+ & 1 for 600+. i had 200 hp or so at the end of the fight. no 2 hr used but i did have a tasty taz taco. no super badass uber gear either and no merits only on lvl 1 chivalry. just the common adaman gear from head to legs and the gallent leggings on feet. i do have a jelly ring thanks to my LS but i dont wanna do the math to see how much that helped.

all in all it was a pretty fast fight. no skill required just defense gear and rdm buffs. blaze spikes will do the rest. if i had to do something different it would have been to equip my shield torque instead of the parade gorget and use the sanction regen. i know this could have been an less dramatic fight had i made those choices. oh and my enhancing is only at 100

well i hope this helps those pld/rdms out there who are too lazy to lvl nin.
stupid shadows wouldnt help in this fight anway.

rdm/blm? rdm/nin? lol

For all of you non-rdms out there, this can be soloed easily by any mnk/war.

Just put one at least one piece of relic (preferably feet), eat carbonara, pop CS focus dodge and berserk b4 the cutscene, and I guarantee you'll kill it faster than any rdm (or any other job) can dream of! the only thing you need to do is be quick on targeting/engaging the mob (If your on PC spam F8).

All in all I countered 25 hits, evaded 2, got hit 13 times (One of which was a crit), and hit him 9 times (didnt even have enough time to WS)

Ended the fight with about 600 hp and I'm a hume <.<

Trust me, this will be the most fun 30 seconds of your life! and you'll have a map of Caedarva mire afterwards :D

Oh, and to the poster that made reference to his attacks being more like a KC, over 100 fists, I agree, as the last attack I landed on him was a counter, and it hit for 0 dmg. I may be being hasty in my deliberation but if the mob is already dead but they still attack how can you hit them for any damage? that's probably why it hit for 0 (And it was the only attack for 0 dmg)

EDIT: /PLD would probably work as well, idk (Sentinel + counterstance)

Also, at the time i had 3/4 evasion merits, and capped h2h... no counter merits or +counter gear

WOW! ...that's all I can start out with!

That lil **** is really fast and hard along with absorbing your life!

I'm a PLD74 I knew I couldn't solo the "Plague Chigoe", so I found a thf & rdm to make life alot more sweeter.

While the rdm cast its spells and the thf plummeled the thing I tanked( as always, it's my job).

I didnt bother healing myself cus it was done for me but I don't think one was gravity or any other was cast durning the ordeal, I just "Swift Blade" or gave it a good "Vorpal Blade" every 10 sec, lol.

I wish I had its accuracy and speed like that.

Damn sure glad I got it over with before server maint. It was a fun and interesting morning in (I-8) Bhaflau Thickets today. By the way..., Got my map on the spot, lol!

Last night I soloed this as a 68 Red Mage/Black Mage, sleep bind gravity and nuke, wash rinse repeat, worked like a charm- no resists, and I'm elvaan -.^ Best to have Stoneskin up when popping.

I brought a mnk friend with me, but he was slow coming out of the cs so i had to deal with this little fireball alone for a bit. Phalanx+stoneskin+blaze spikes were rocking this world. All told the thing had to have hit me for an insane amount of times and my own stoneskin never wore. Mnk finally clued in and decided to hundred fists it back. The mnk would have died if he'd been solo, but i'm fairly certain pld/rdm could handle this. I was wearing koenig shield, joyeuse, bibiki sea shell, valor coronet, parade gorget (didn't do me much good, the chigoe was absorbing all my mp plus i got plagued) knight's earring, buckler earring, haubergeon, valor gauntlets, hercules' ring, sattva ring, gigant mantle, life belt, adaman cuisses and gallant leggings. So nothing spectacular, what's doing the most dmg isn't your sword/enspell, it's the blaze spikes. This little spit-fire hit me 10 times before I hit him once. Happy hunting.

You don't need to return to Ahaadah back in Whitegate for the map, you'll get it after the cut scene when you examine the ???. Also, there is no pause after the cut scene like the guide says, as soon as you first examine the ??? the NM will spawn.

SAM70 PLD71 WHM75 BLM75 absolutely owned this.

OMG!! Just soloed this as a rdm...shut up already! Who cares that rdm/nin can solo this nm? I mean come on there are like 10 posts in a row where people are trying to brag about soloing this nm as a rdm/nin or rdm/blm. No one needs to know about a rdm soloing this after the first or second post. We can all see after the first post or two that a rdm can solo this nm, what we don't know is how low of a level can you be to solo it?? Big deal, you can solo a nm as 75rdm. Try a different job then post some useful information. Sorry though, just seemed to be a little ridiculous to have so many rdm's posting about soloing the same nm. O_O p

Just soloed this NM as a 75RDM/37BLM. Surprisingly easy fight, took under 10 minutes. Make sure you buff up before fight... if you can't land Bind OR Gravity OR Sleep as soon as it spawns, you're dead. If you do land one of these, you're golden. Just keep up Bind and Gravity while you nuke it to pieces. When you run out of MP, Elemental Seal/Sleep II it, Convert, Cure IV, and finish it off using nukes.

ya I just solo'd this as a 72RDM/BLM. Thanks for the tips, this was a super easy fight. Elemental magic uncapped at 212 plus AF hat and ice staff, and my fire 3 didn't get resisted, took off 9% per hit. enfeebling torque and even switched out my AF body for errant, had no trouble landing any enfeebles at all. it drained about 7 MP/hit from me, not horrible but if it hits it hits a lot, so it adds up. Without Phalanx it also hit me for about 50 each time when it took down my stoneskin.

Actually I don't think it has 100 fists. I noticed that when I went to sleep it a few times it hit me an additional 3-5 times after it's asleep. This sounds like something else I'm familiar with. You get the same effect from a Kraken club when you get slept, you'll take the remainder number of swings from your attack round even if you're sleeping. My guess is this bug just has a lot of hits per attack round rather than 100 fists.

This is useful because Slow and Elegy will still affect it's attack speed and Paralyzing it should stop entire attack rounds. Hope this helps someone.

I watched plauge chigoe eat a pt of 4 rdm alive, serves those god damn cocky bastards right. As in all chigoes, this NM has the canstant hundred fists effect, but he also has additional effect: MP drain.

Enjoy. ^^

Make sure that when you start the quest you talk to the starting NPC after the first CS again or else you won't get CS's in Port Al Zahbi.

Just soloed this as 75 RDM/BLM. tried soloing it melee wise first, but his added effect sucked my mp dry so i just died ; ; Luckily a WHM raise 3'd me.

Got back up, and decided to sleep nuke it. Worked fine. Took about 20-30 mins. Bind doesn't last long on it i found, but sleep landed perfect.

I'm about to go Counterstance this, duo with a WHM friend.

I'll be dead in 5 seconds.

Edit: Ended up bringing a second WHM, counterstance turned out working pretty well actually! Hit me for 100-120 per hit, but I countered half the time.
