Can't get quest

I have obtained the Silver name Tag required for the quest, but Pavvke will not do anything. I have attempted to talk and trade... nothing. Anyone have ideas?
Can't get quest

I have been reading what people are saying the requirements are for this Quest, and I am a Rank 2 lvl 16 Monk and he talks about the fallen comrades, but the quest does not show under current quests... guess I will endeavour to kill and see if I can turn them in to him.

Strange problems with this quest
# Aug 01 2004 at 12:42 PM Rating: Decent
I had been having problems getting this quest and figured I'd let you in on my discoveries. It seems that if you have the quest the Eleventh's Hour, Pavvke will NOT give you this quest. All he says is how he's not old enough to remember that far back and that you should go talk to Babenn. Well, I decided I had to go ahead and finish that quest before he would give me the Fallen Comrades quest. I completed that quest, and alot easier I might add due to people warning about the gate and the ensuing trains that can happen there. When I came back to talk to Pavvke, I forget what he said at first, but then he kept talking about how they (Galka) had lost their Talemaster and Zeid. He never explicitly gave me this quest. My fame is fairly high in Bastok too. I was fame level 4 at the time I talked to him. I just decided to go ahead and hand him the name tag and sure enough, I completed a quest that I was never given. Fairly odd, but in case anyone else was having that same problem, maybe this will help you out some. :)

I had both this quest and the 11th hour, I decided I'd do both in one trip.

I completed 11th hour, then i went to speak to Pavvke but he just talks about the past, the talemaster stuff.

How can i trade to him? As when I click on him the he starts talking?

Lil help?

It seems as though you may have to start (or even finish) the quest involving the "Talemaster".

Zeid? Isn't that the DRK that you train from? Or am I just confused? :P
fame is needed
# May 18 2004 at 5:53 PM Rating: Decent
there is a fame level requirement, but i'm not sure how much. I have only completed one or two bastok quests and he will not give me this quest.
RE: fame is needed

I come from Sandy, starting as fame level 1 (some kind of snails?).
Didn't try this npc at that time.
Did the Welcome to Bastok quest and Moghouse multi-exit quest (everyone should do this first!), and became fame level 2.
But I've done the Explorer's Footstep (Selbina Clay) quest at Selbina quite a number of times. This may affect my rate to become fame level 2 in Bastok.
Didn't finish any other Bastokinan quest. And I got this one as I wander around in Bastok.
Oh, and I've activated Beauty and Galka. But according to a post below, these two quests have no relationship.

As you said you can't get the quest (possibly at fame level 1?), fame level 2 should be the lowest fame needed.
Hope this post may help you.

ps. Also killed the dragon in Palborough Mines twice, but I don't think the mission affects the fame level.

something don't make sense
# Feb 04 2004 at 2:40 PM Rating: Decent
I been giving him God-knows how many and he still have cash to give me..... is mining that job to get rich at seeing that he can pay so much

Man, i love this quest......i must do it every time I go to the mines.....at first, it's hard to find the nametag, but as u get higher levels it gets MUCH easier. The only thing is, the nametag is rare(I think), so u can only get 1 every time u go to the mines (That i am sure of) gee, i've done this qwest SO many times....who says Humes never do nice stuff 4 Galkas??

ya, they should set a limit on how far you will get pay or something, I say every 10 you give him will be 50g less till the point that he can't pay you and ask you if he can have it for free.

hey. npc's are infinitey rich. it's just the way it is. how else do you think they can afford to just stand in one spot all day? ;)

don't knock it just coz you don't feel like repeating it.
Good for fame
# Jan 18 2004 at 4:32 AM Rating: Good
if you don't mind the repetition. On Alexander they typically sell for 500, so you can buy one at the Mines AH, hoof it down to Pavvke, collect your 50 gil profit, return to the AH, buy another one, rinse and repeat. If you have some spare time it's worth it in terms of fame to clear out the auction house doing this, plus it gets you a little extra cash if you buy low.
can't trade
# Nov 28 2003 at 3:48 PM Rating: Default
I've talked to Pavvke but he doesn't offer the quest to me. I've also tried trading the silver tag with him and he doesn't do anything. What am I doing wrong here? Are there 2 different tags that I am not aware of? Because the one that I have I can wear. Is this the wrong item?
RE: can't trade
# Feb 19 2004 at 5:30 PM Rating: Decent
I finally got the quest. It requires either 10 or 11 quests completed before you can get this one. So fame of 0 is incorrect.

I think, but I am not sure, that Beauty and the Galka is a prerequisite quest for this. (Since you find out about Cornelia trying to help out the Galakas in that quest.)

Just a thought.

Beauty and the Galka is not a prerequisite for this quest. I picked it up without having activated bueaty and the Galka.

You may need more fame first.
I know that it says under fame needed: none
but I dont think these are always correct.

Also, what is your level?
It says it has a required level of 12

Yeah I think I do need more fame. I am a lvl 21. Also what is funny is that the FFXI stategy guide says you need to be low fame to do the quest. Well aren't I a low fame considering I've only done 4 quest. Thanks in advance

That would probably make you no fame, not low fame. Check with the fame NPC to see.

# Nov 08 2003 at 7:38 AM Rating: Default
there's a difference between GETTING the items, and being given the items...

if you want to GET the items, then party of higher levels will be needed.

otherwise... yeah, lvl 1 players can do ANY quest when someone else gives them the item. moot point.

Not true.

Some quests (for instance, the Chocobo quest) cannot be done until you reach a certain level no matter what items you have.

A onyx Qaldavs wiped out my party of a level 9 warrior, level 8 white mage and level 6 black mage rather handedly... Might wanna raise the level to atleast a party of 3 of level 9's or more perhaps.
