Pyopyoroon of Nashmau has advised you to head west to a place with many "stooones" to find a special "ghooost." Perhaps it will lead you the ghost ship...

Receiving the Vial of Spectral Scent activates this mission.

This mission involves a fight with a notorious monster. Head into Caedarva Mire from Nashmau and go to the headstone at E-10. There are several undead mobs in this area at night, so you're best off doing this mission during the day.

Clicking the headstone will spawn the Corsair Jazaraat, a fomor mob that can be easily taken down with a trio of 75 jobs. Once you defeat the NM, click on the headstone again for a cutscene and to receive an Ephramadian Gold Coin. Do not zone until you've touched the headstone again, or you'll have to repeat the NM fight.

This completes the mission.

Pld/Rdm + Whm/Sch duo

I, 74 Pld/rdm, picked up a 70 Whm/sch to duo this. Battle went very smoothly as we pulled him back toward the direction you come to avoid blood agro as it was soon to be night.

Fight was easy and steady, making sure to keep up Phalanx/Stoneskin/Blink. Would then get up an En- spell and Blaze Spikes to help dwindle him down. Kept Bio II up at all time and only Flashed when I needed to. Started off with Holy Circle as you will probably be able to use it again toward the end of the battle. Then I offset Sentinel and Rampart to help spread out my Def. I used Tav tacos as our goal was to outlast him.

Used 3 Yag drinks which last perfectly to the end of the battle. Whm did what Whm's do and cured. He threw some nukes here and there with Holy and Banish III. Had to cure bomb me a couple times as I did get into the 300 HP range but nothing a good Cure V wont fix. I used 90% of my MP on buffs and left curing mostly to the Whm. Whm never once pulled agro.

My Gear was:
AF body, hands, feet, legs
Adaman head
Shield Torque/Parade Gorget
Company Sword
Koenig Shield
Amemet Mantle +1
Warwolf Belt
Fowling Earring/Fang Earring
Woodsmen/Venrer Ring
Bibiki Seashel

Hope this helps.

Strange... I just finished this mission, and never got the title. :\
Rather, that appears to be a Sandy CP title.

First attempt, buffed with ss,blink, reraise, carbuncle kited it, everytime I had to recast I would assault then meteroite, and I would elemental siphon when needed. Got to 10% then buffs wore and I did meteroite instead of healing ruby which I should have done, got aggro and died, attempting again. Should be a success but very do-able solo as a 75smn/whm.

Can be solo'd as 75 drg/whm

Wanted to see if i was able to solo it. Went as a galka, so had mp gear at start. Buffed up, ate t.taco rested. 241mp before fight, @80 mp after. Wasn't bad of a fight, the nm got me down to red a few times, but nothing to be worry about. Brought a yag drink and a pamama au lait just to be safe. After the fight, didnt really need it with sanction refresh. If you do bring a mp drink, i say mellon juice.

Like other people said, dont go at night, skeles will argo low hp.

Solo RDM/NIN....well Almost

I just had a very interesting experience with this NM.

I go in as RDM/NIN. AF Hands/Feet/Head, SH and using Martial Anelace and Tariqua (shield)and I had Jack-o still active from a dunes party. I buff up, rest to full and pop the NM. I debuff with Slow, Para and Blind and start wacking away. Keeping SS and shadows up was no problem. His accuracy sucks on top of all the extra EVA and capped EVA sklill I have.

Everything is going smoothly then around 25% i notice a Taru walk up and start watching. I assume he needs this fight too but he says nothing. Then a elvaan shows up and a hume to follow. Before I know it there is a whole alliance literally standig around me in a circle watching me slowly kill this thing.

At about 10% he uses Wild Card, wipes my shadows and breaks my SS in one hit. So while I recast Ni, I catch a Cure IV from one of the RDM around me. At that point I just opened up with Blizzard III and Thunder III to end it. I guess you could say I solo'd it but eh....that Cure IV kinda took away a little of the glory ><

Myself (mithra PLD72) and my friend Allo: RDM70/whm duo'd him.
To start we buffed up as normal, I had a taco and was wearing all my gallant gear, nothing special. Allo was in AF too and melee'd the whole time.
Got him to spawn and went thru the normal tanking routine, although I didnt enjoy his nearly constant Crit hits :(
Got him down to 40% when both our MP was low; so Allo used Convert and started nukin'
All in all, not much danger of death to us, just took a long time. I must've Vorpal Bladed him about 8 times, lol, breaking latent on Spara of Trials ^^
Good luck and enjoy^^

RDM/NIN soloing

Soloed this NM as RDM75/NIN37 straight up melee. It is not necessary to do a long and boring DoT kiting act. Just be mindful of your shadows, stoneskin, haste, try and keep para and slow on him. Basically all the same stuff that a RDM/NIN should be used to already. It got kind of hairy at the end, but I think that was just me getting sloppy because I got bored and started chatting with the LS before I was done.

You will get hit a few times because of his move that removes shadows. But never did I get hit for anything more than 300 or so. And that's a crit without SS.

Have some haste and fastcast gear equipped if you can. I used Warlock Chapeau, Loquacious Earring, Nashira legs and feet. I have Nashira turban but not sure that beats out the chapeau. I don't have duelist body yet, but this should make things even easier.

My weapons were Martial Anelace main and Joyeuse off hand. Didn't bother with any STR or ATT gear or food.

All in all, not a very difficult fight if you know how to pay attention.

Solo'd as thf/nin after thf/dnc failed due to TP drain. Was hit one time entire fight and it was a big'n... 450 crit. HP down move a couple times at best. Used 12 shihei on the fight.
Not a hard fight
# Feb 26 2008 at 2:27 PM Rating: Excellent
Did it today with 60 PLD, 60 MNK, 61 WHM, 75 WHM, 75 MNK and 75 THF

Undead con as IT to 60 and did aggro but it was no real problem. I would have thought that any 6 people 65+ can take this. Of course having a couple of 75s helps.
Don't need to be 75 to do everything!

Did it solo as 63BST/29WHM so don't be afraid to try it lower level :) Didn't have any luck my first attempt as BST/DNC so I decided to try it with the underleveled WHM sub and it wasn't any problem outside of taking 25 minutes and 2 yagudo drinks on top of sanction refresh/gaudy harness.
soloable nin/dnc?

Soloable by a lvl 75 BST/NIN , used 4 CC's and pets around the area, mainly birds and leeches to wear him down.

Easy fight, just don't let the pets die as any BST should know.

Happy Hunting!

MNK Solo

Just tried this as MNK/NIN. I got him down to 5% before dying from drown. I started by getting TP from a sapling and resting to full hp. Popped the mob and used focus/dodge followed by Chakra as soon as it was needed. I didn't do anything special other than recasting utsu when needed. This guys accuracy isn't great but it seems to come in burst (he got a normal hit in and immediately followed it by using Wild Card to get 300 TP and then netherspikes.)

One thing I'd recommend is to keep counterstance up at all times, not sure if I just got lucky but I countered 11/12 of his regular attacks while counterstance was up (didn't have it up right away and got hit for a 399 critical and again for 280 when it wore).

I didn't use my 2hr either which probably would have been the difference in the fight. Overall there's not much too it, a lot of luck involved if you don't have great gear.
Ahh, Finally did a rematch with this guy

I've been away from FFXI for a few months, and upon returning, I figured I should give this guy another shot. Realizing I'd be really rusty, I recruited a buddy of mine, a 75 RDM. Man, this guy is a joke with a second person. I took exactly two hits the entire Fight, both of them netherspikes. I tanked nearly the entire fight with just Uts:Ichi, using Uts:Ni only once. Hell, my 2nd hit was at the end of the battle when I realized my next hit would kill him so I didn't bother to put up shadows again.

The most annoying thing for this entire fight was that infernal Carnal Nightmare or whatever it's called. It reduces your TP down to 0 and he did it 4 freaking times when I was at 90+ TP, and a few times when I was around 30-50. If not for that He'd have been dead incredibly quick.

Oh, and for whoever might be curious, I was a 75MNK/NIN, and no, I did not use Hundred fists on him. Only Eva gear I had on was Dual Dodge earrings and a Corse Cape.(Well, SH+1 and O.Hat but I wear those full-time anyways).

We spawned him...2 level 75SMN, RDM, and BLM and he is a tough mob. Lots of HP so do not expect a push over fight. With all this fire power, still over 5 minute fight.

Something to think about before you try it solo.

Good Luck.

You don't have to go back to Nashmau (sp) to respwan him, he kicked my *** the first try and once I was raised and healed I spawned him again. RDM/NIN DoT/kite is the best way to do this solo RDM. Had no resists to Gravity with 318 skill, several resists to Bind but luckily never when I needed it to land. Last 1/4 a PLD friend came in and we finished him off easy. My first kite attempt ended so close, had him to about 2% when I blood aggroed a Guard Skeleton (they had JUST spawned, thought I had more time to heal), wasn't ready and the two of them gang-raped me.

don't let these rdm scare you .. he's EASILY soloable as rdm/nin, i don't even think you would have to sub nin other than for barbed crescent or whatever. he doesn't build resistance to bind, rather he just has a higher resist rate than a lot of mobs (326 enfeeb skill, resisted 6-8 binds?) no biggie. just keep your distance :D
# Jun 21 2007 at 3:12 PM Rating: Decent
Just duo'd this with a 75 WAR and me as a NIN 75. It's really easy, just keep shadows up. Although i wouldn't hurt to bring any sort of healing along. Even a BLU would probably work.
# Jun 13 2007 at 6:43 AM Rating: Decent
Duo'ed this with a rdm friend( Many Thanks Charliehustle [Impossible to gauge rdm])and me thf. Both 75 he sub nin as did I. First fight was a mess got him down to 30% and he used wildcard and foxfire when my shadows was down (Ouch 703 then followed with a 407 reg attack)needless to say i was toast. Second Run we knew what to expect. and pwned the Sh%* out of this pansy. was fun.

Just tried to solo this twice as RDM/NIN, DoT/kiting.

Gravity holds for full duration, and so does Bind. Trouble is, if you EVER get caught without shadows, he will take you down in 2 hits.

You have to make sure you are continually on the edge of his range so that you can run out of range of Barbed Crescent,

After getting him to 40% both times, I reckon its possible with a ton of meds. The only nuke that seemed to be making much impact was Thunder III, but there isn't enough MP in your pool to make it go round enough.

Waiting 10 mins between convert timers is just too draining. As RDM/BLM you could probably Aspir and Drain him, but 2 shadows is just not enough, as somebody mentioned below, he has an attack that can take down 2 shadows in one go.

He builds resistance to Bind. If you took your time a bit more and didn't nuke, combined with some luck, you could beat this in about 1.5 - 2 hours I reckon. But one stroke of bad luck would take it all away from you.

I solo'd this mission as rdm/nin DoT kiting. But, I cheated a lil... I'd get a fresh gravity/bind and bio or poison on him (so he won't run away and regenerate) and I'd zone, change subs from nin to w/e back to nin, go out and aggro him. I'd repeat this anytime I got close to the zone and something on him wore off. Fight took about 30/45 mins (was a long time ago). But do make sure you get a fresh bio/poison on him before you zone, or he'll regen while you talk to the nomad moogle (I had to fight him twice because of that ><)
