just completed this quest, along with Drachenfall quest, as level 14 Monk. not difficult at all, provided you use silent oil and prism powder to sneak / invisible!

note: you cannot obtain Dangruf Stone or Drachenfall Water while invisible, so you WILL be vulnerable for at least a few seconds. Pick your spot wisely.

I couldn't find the ??? at I/J 5 at about 9:00 and sunny so went wandering around. Came back at 13:00 and it had spawned.

Well I was walking through for another quest and got another stone just before 5:00 when it was still dark out.

Regarding Fame
# Sep 09 2004 at 3:35 PM Rating: Decent
I had gotten the Stone a long time ago and it was sitting in my inventory, so I looked this up and decided to get rid of it...

When I first talked to Horatius I had only done 1 Bastok quest and he didn't give me the quest. I then spent a while doing the Gourmet Quest - approximately 20 times - and then he gave me the quest and I was able to give hime the stone right then and there.

Afterwards, I found Flaco and checked my fame - I got the one-step-up answer of "who? maybe I've heard your name before." (paraphrased).

Horatius is inside Trader's house. Trader's house entrance is located at J-9. Horatius is located at I-9 inside the house. After you enter the house, turn left you will see him.
Level for this quest
# Jun 18 2004 at 7:47 PM Rating: Decent
ok I am a level 12 rdm and I cannot do this quest yet, but even if I could I would need a party or something to get it done. Half the enemies up there are tough or inc tou. for me so I suggest that a lower level person use a rather large party to get this quest done...

WARNING: !!Getting this quest BREAKS The Siren's Tear quest!!

If you are a low level (less than level 15), you *DO NOT* want to get this quest started.

While travelling to the mines for the early missions and for levelling, you can do several Tear pickups at the creek that you pass on the way.

But once you get this quest, you won't be able to find the Tears anymore. They just wont exist for you, although your companions (who haven't gotten this quest) will still be able to target them.
RE: WARNING: Breaks Tear Quest
# Jun 16 2004 at 12:03 PM Rating: Decent
Confirmed, this does NOT break the Siren's Tear quest. I just did this quest, and then Siren's Tear back to back
Not broken...
# Jun 12 2004 at 11:39 AM Rating: Excellent
This does NOT break the Siren's Tear quest. I have had this quest since Level 8 or 9 WAR. I am still able to get Siren's Tears.

Siren's Tears spawn only one at a time and only at a certain frequency. If someone gets a Siren's Tear, it will not be available to anyone else until it spawns again.
RE: Not broken...
# Jun 12 2004 at 12:47 PM Rating: Decent
Also, the Siren's Tear can spawn in one of a few locations along the creek.
No sword.

Fame is required, maybe 20?
# Jan 31 2004 at 12:13 AM Rating: Default
Fame is definitely required for this. I was unable to turn in the stone/get the quest until i've completed around 12 different quests, and the cooking chick one that's repeatable 5 times.

Just to let you know, fame is needed, probably around 20+
repeatable.

What they usually tend to do here, at this site for Final Fantasy, is get all the basic info, without the simple stuff; i.e. fame level, level for use (items), sometimes even what jobs use what item, et cetera. But would you rather they fuss over waiting to get all that information and not post anything, or go ahead and post whatever they have? There just may be complications beyond your knowledge. Try to keep a little patience for people giving you free things.

I found the wadi stone at ??? but it says that I cannot pick it up. I have been granted the quest by horatius and I am a lvl 21 blm. Anyone else encounter this problem? Oh, and it was a sunny day also.
RE: Not able to pickup stone
# Mar 10 2004 at 2:52 AM Rating: Decent
I was with a friend who had this same problem (gave him the same message), the problem was that his inventory was full...so if you're getting this message be sure that your inventory isn't full....

Does it have to be one of those extra-sunny days, when you get the fire icon on the compass?

I don't know if this is related or not but I found a ??? at F/G-7. Is this the proper place for the dangruf stone quest and the instrutions are mistaken, or is it perhaps for another quest?

I found the stone at I/J-5. It's on the north wall of the clearing.

#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 02 2003 at 12:14 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Don't know what this has to do with anything, but only level 17+ black mages can use scroll of warp.

# Dec 03 2003 at 3:57 AM Rating: Default
Wrong quest friend, Lucky Rat in Metalworks gives you the Scroll of Warp for handing in slime oil. I know i just did it hehe.
#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 03 2003 at 3:59 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Opps i see why u said it, well its true that it is a BLM spell, the scroll itself probably can be casted by anyone though. Then its no more of course, one time use.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 17 2004 at 1:15 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Moron.. Thats scroll of Instant warp. Thats different from scroll of warp. Warp is for BLM only.
RE: Scroll of Warp
# Jan 28 2004 at 7:48 AM Rating: Decent
Warp is a caster-only spell, meaning that only a level 17 BLM can learn Warp, cast Warp, or be Warped. There are 2 "exceptions" to this:

1) Warp II. Not sure what level it is, fairly high I know, and BLM only, but it allows the caster to cast Warp on other people.

2) Scroll of Instant Warp. Purchased only with 750 CP, is an EX item, one-time use do-not-pass-go-do-not-collect-200-dollars use it and poof its gone. Can be used by ANYONE, but like Warp I, can only Warp the user (and since its EX, the purchaser) of the scroll.

Just to add in a few notes:

-Warp II is a level 40 BLM spell.

-It can be cast on party members only.

You need to talk to the NPC to get the quest first. If he won't talk to you, you don't have enough fame.
