In-Game Text

Description

Hungry Wolf in the Craftsman's Eatery is dying for some Galkan Sausage. You need to find Offa to learn how to make it for him. Head out to Southern Gustaberg and look for a goblin camp on a hill (K-9). There will be a campfire there than you can click on. Kill the sheep nearby and get Giant Sheep Meat and put it in the campfire. Then you need to wait one in-game day for the meat to cook and the sausage to appear. Trade this to Hungry Wolf for your reward.

what i did was before i knew i had to leave the game i ran to the camp traded the meat to fire and logged out and when i logged back in 2 hours later i was able to retreive the meat. logging out is not the same as zoning. and yes you have to wait 1 real life hour not just for the game day to change to the new day i tried that it didnt work

For you to make the statement that 50 minutes is a wait of your time. Well: While I was on the Hill waiting for the meat to cook, I killed all the Gobs, Sheep & Enchanted Bones that spawned. I got 18 Goblimn Masks which I took Lighting Crystals to and got 2 stacks of Glass Fibers. They sell for 20k a stack, but I converted some to lens and them made Prisim Power 50k a stack. I also got Goblin Arour which I took Lighting Crystals to and got Leather and Bronze Ingots. I also got Sheep skins that I took Dark Cryastals , Tea Leaves and Water to and got more leater. Ended up with just over 2 stacks. They sell for 30k each. In all I made about 120k in that 50 minutes.

I also killed some enchanted bones and got Bone chips. I later killed rabbits and with Bone chips and Rabbit hide I make Animal glue. 50k a stack.

A waist of time ??????

I was able to do some experimentation on the "Smoke On Top Of The Mountain" quest. People seam to lose their sausage if they leave the fire while others can range free and come back at a later date. I tested this with a stack of sheep meat. The result is you can walk away and come back later to get the sausage. There are conditions. One, you can not zone. It does not matter if you walk, warp, or teleport out. I have not tried to ride a chocobo out, but I do not know how you would get one without zoning to Bastok Mines anyways. Also forget trying to trade on the back of a chocobo. But you can wander all over South Gustaberg and come back and get the sausage.

I also can now personally confirm some other things. The campfire is definitely at K-9 like Burlyman, Master XKainex, and others have said. You can log out and log back in and still get the sausage if you did not zone. Logging in and out seams to be different from zoning. If you try to log out at the campsite, the goblins will attack you. This happens even if you are a forty-third level white mage!Smiley: jawdrop You can only cook one piece of giant sheep meat at a time. Further it takes one Vana ?diel day to cook. One Vana 'diel day is approximately 50 minutes Earth time. The reward is the stated 300 gil, which is more than what the cooking guild or NPC merchants will give you. Being tied to the South Gustaberg region is just too high a price to pay for me for the extra 200 gil. I am not including Auction House prices for raw sheep meat because they fluctuate over time and vary from server to server. It may be an attractive alternative. I would encourage players selling sheep meat to check the Jeuno and Windurst Auction Houses. I hope this helps and wish you luck in this quest.Smiley: smile

If you try to log out at the campsite, the goblins will attack you. This happens even if you are a forty-third level white mage!

Even newb area Beastmen will aggro even a lv75 anything for sitting down/healing. Their AI assumes that anyone who isn't standing up is weak, and therefore, ripe for slaughter.
what?

I am also on caitsith and no one took your sausage I think. I came back and it wasn't there too. I think if you leave the zone, then the meat don't stay.

Did this as a level 15. Ridiculously easy. Increased my fame, and made 270 gil. (Bought Sheep Meat at AH for 30, I didn't feel like waiting for one to drop it). Even better, I got to tear up the Gob camp, and who doesn't like some Gob-stomping every now and again? :)

leaving the mountain

I takes a full hour earth time to cook the sausage, but you don't have to stay on the mountain top to get ur sausage. I accidentily turned off my ps2. After did the checks of my files on my hdd and logged back in, i targetted the ??? fire and it gave me my sausage.
buy it ><
# Feb 28 2004 at 12:26 AM Rating: Default
You know you can just buy the meat. Only worth it if its for the fame. Otherwise your wasting your money.

a little help

well like usual theres too many posts here to make sense of what ur talking about but hey, goto K-9 of south gusta and its the hill marked on the map nearby the lighthouse. theres only one way up it and theres on average about 2-3 goblins and 3-4 sheep up there so make sure you have a lvl 9+ character or you'll be fighting more than cooking. all you need to do is 'trade' the giant sheep meat to the ??? fire. dont think night or day effects it. i sat there for an hour and got my sausage from hungry wolf. if your bored and want a reason to hang out with your buds its a nice place to be and good views. plus you can move around at LEAST on the hill.. havent confirmed if you can go down the hill, nontheless leave the sector. but ya its also a repeatable quest so if anything its a free 300 gil while going up there to level anyways. plus, Hot Dog is a cool title to have. alot better than Rainbow-Weaver heh
Fame Boost

If you have some gil, and some sausages are on AH, this is the best way (I have found) to max bastok fame. on my server sausages cost 6k a stack, and the return is 3.6k a stack so you pay around 2.4k to turn in 12. Personally, I went from teleport-dem level fame to titan level fame in 6 stacks.

you should only do this quest when the aggro won't aggro you, I see people saying it's hard because they get kill at lvl2 or 3 by the gobs, OF COURSE THEY WILL AGGRO YOU AT THAT LVL!!!!!!1111111111oneoneoneone wait till lvl 20 so nothing on that hill will touch you or will only do 0 to 0 dmg even when they aggro on you, I done this quest at lvl 25 and I have no problem, the gob can poke me all they want but they will die a horrable horrable death after, or you can cast spike if you are a mage
mmkay..

Seriously this quest isnt that hard to find or do. Hello it's at the hill at K-9/10 on the southern side of the hill there's a grassy path leading up. This quest is rediculously stupid so just do it later when you're at a high level. You can make more than $300 gils in an hour elsewhere and one fame point isn't really that important in the whole scheme of things. I did this quest when I was BLM36/WHM17.

What can't we do while waiting for the sausage to cook??? I did this quest twice and still no sausage. :( First time I changed my jobs. Second time around, I didn't change jobs, didn't die, didn't log out. Could someone pls confirm if zoning is alright? If so, then could it be Mog House access? Info pls. Thanks!

Ok, I have confirmed something. Your sausage disappears if you zone! I put the meat in the fire, confirmed it's there and went around. I went into Bastok Mines and immediately came back out to check my sausage. It's gone! FYI for everyone out there. :)

While zoning or logging might not lose the sausage, dying does. I left my computer to go grab a drink, came back and someone had trailed one of the goblins over to me, and both of us were laying on the ground with the goblin thug over us. I returned to my home point, walked back out there, and the sausage was gone.

I finally understood what that person meant by there's only 1 path .... well. You have to WALK up to the moutains, it's not around it or anything. It's actually on top of that moutain.

And to be exact, it's SOUTH EASY of Vomp's Hill. Walk up to the little hill and you'll see it all there.

Wasted alot of my time doing this... not to mention now I gotta cook for another hour... by the way, is cooking more then 1 slice possible?

Please!

I logged and came back two days later (RL), and the sausage was there. Doesn't matter if you leave or not, looks like it'll be there. Might be an issue if the servers get reset though...
This Quest...
# Dec 04 2003 at 9:51 AM Rating: Decent
...is quite long. You have to cook the meat for 24 hours of game time. It's about 30 mins RL time I believe, but the time crawls. As far as I know, you can only cook one piece of meat at a time. You can kill the Goblins, Sheep and the occassional skellie to pass the time. I'm not sure if you can leave the zone or the game while the sausage is cooking, I didn't try, I just hung around and got some okay experience. Is it worth it? Not for 300 gil but if you want/need fame it's good. Myself, I'm trying to do all the quests in Bastok, just for kicks.

Camped for a few hours and came back, it wasn't there anymore. Don't think someone else can take it, so I guess it cooked until it became ashes.

Hungry Wolf is on the second floor of the Metalworks. When you enter, take the left tunnel and right the elevator to the second floor. There is a door of to your right, called the Craftsmen's Eatery. He is inside, alone at a table. You don't have to talk to his friend Offa to be able to turn in the meat.

The quest is on a smaller hill EAST of Vomp hill. There is only one path up, and the fire is guarded by two goblin thugs and two goblin weavers. You just target the fire and trade one meat to it, and then wait 24 hours in game time, which is roughly 45-50 minutes of real time. Hardly worth the 300 gil, but you can keep cooking the meat, and I have seen a stack of the sausages go for 3k gil on the Sylph server.

How do you keep cooking the meat? Do you just leave it in there for [(50 minutes) x 12] to get the stack?

One game day is one real hour.

Eight game days in a game week.

Three game weeks a real day.

Or something close to that. It's not exact.
Not on Vomp hil
# Nov 08 2003 at 10:51 PM Rating: Excellent
It is NOT on Vomp Hill. It is on the hill SOUTH of Vomp hill. THe entrance up is on the south side of the hill and you can see the lighthouse in front of you and to the left a bit if you are facing away from the mines exit.

OMG, this is by far the most helpful post on this subject. Wasted hours on the other hills when this tells me exactly where to look. (BUMP this post UP!!!) K-9 marks the spot of the ???.
