Description

What's going on?...I've done plenty of quests...I've gotten the stardust from Valkurm Dunes, and went to Metalworks but the guy won't give me the quest, so I can't trade it, what's going on?

You have to be sure to be at least level 15 to get the quest.
Minimum LVL

I did this with my lvl 1 mule today once it reached sufficent fame. Although as many others have pointed out, you will get aggroed by the bats in the tunnel, which might explain the lvl 15 req. in the description.
15+???

this is repeatable, but you do have to zone between exchanges. sort of annoying, but tolerable.

Fame 2 is enough ("Hmm...sounds familiar").

I have that problem too. I just arrived from San d'Oria and I got the sun sand, but he won't give me the quest. Is it because I have no fame in Bastok?

I increased my fame by a bit and now he gives me the quest. I think you need at least low fame or something else to get this quest.
The easy way

Hi, I am a lvl26whm/blm i just told a grp close to the boat i would heal them if they all 6 gave me there sand during the sand storm. They agreed so now i have 36sunsands. Try it out easier then you think

Did the quest, no problem the first time. I however had 3 of the sands, gave him 1 for the quest, got 300 gil. The guide btw says 400 so the book is wrong ... well I've been trying to trade the other two to him (one at a time) and he won't take it. Anyone know whats up?

Its there, just like ore drops it takes time. Fight some snips and build your levels, go check it out during down time. Got two sunsands tonight during an hour of playing.

i spent 2 hours sitting there waiting at the boat... and the sandstorm never happened... i have now just logged out and im going to bed. buy this one at the AH unless you happen to be there during a storm.

just lvling around the boat. it is a good place to lvl there anyways. I got my sand accidentlly when fighting around the boat. The boat is a good place for your mages to stay when melees in battle anyways.

You can get this quest long before level 15 - I just got this quest at level 7.

Levels have nothing to do with quests, it's all in Fame and Rank. The reason it says level 15 is because that's about hte level it takes to easily live in Valkurm
#Anonymous, Posted: Nov 28 2003 at 10:53 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) The minimum level for the quest is the minimum level you need to have attained before you can GET the quest, not before you can DO the quest. This quest is easy for any level 13-15 or above. Soloing in Valkurm doesn't usually happen until around 17 or 18, but at 15 one can occasionally find a Rabbit thats a decent challenge or an even match.
Not silly

This is one of those quests that you might just want to do when in Valkurm. The sand is right by the boat on a beach between Selbina and the highlands entrance to the dunes. THis area is heavily populated on most days with parties farming the snippets and fish thingies.

If you have to do it now, you can do it at around 12 as long as you avoid most all of the enemies. LVL 12 because if you do get aggroed you should be able to take a few hits while running away.

Even at level 15 you can't solo most of the stuff in Valkurm.
#Anonymous, Posted: Nov 07 2003 at 11:42 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Then why don't you correct it? It's just people posting the quest.
#Anonymous, Posted: Nov 07 2003 at 7:30 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) this site always had incorrect information for SWG and now theyre doing it again for FFXI....
Hahaha thats silly

This may be a level 1 quest, but the Dunes are a level 15+ area. You're better off getting the sand from the AH
