got lvl 30 today in yhoator and got airship back to jeuno had a little time before i went out so i was like yeah bst it'll be easy so put out a request in ls and a lvl 40 drk came and helped the kraken registered dc to him so he bound, absorb vit, shock then we beat it down it took him down to half health thank god for divine seal + cure II killed it, got flowers

SummaryWalkthroughDietmund is at G-11, in the house right above the chocobo stables. He will come out when you open the merchant's door and ask you to bring him some night flowers. Then go to the the Upper Jeuno Chocobo Stables and talk to Shallot. To get the flowers, you need to go to Qufim Isle and look for a path down the cliff at location F-8 (you can't get flower while invis). Wait for nightfall (22:00) and then walk down the path and look for the glowing nightflowers. The flowers is guarded by a Kraken; no worries, have Sneak casted on yourself or use a Silent Oil and you will be perfectly safe. Click on the flower and it will trigger a cut scene. After the cutscene, go talk to the sick kid at his house, then go talk to Brutus at the Chocobo house in Upper Jeuno and you will be flagged to be able to change jobs to Beastmaster. If you go back to where you first spoke to Dietmund, his now healthy son will give you a Beast Whistle and 2100 gil. After you receive the money and whistle you may go to Brutus (Upper Jeuno, G-7 at the Chocobo Stables) and speak to him.

Well, I have just done this quest, didn't even have to fight the Kraken, just walked past it! I think I was lucky for no aggro. All I had to do was use a silent oil before going down the cliff. The hardest part was trying not to bump into the Kraken. ^^ BST DONE

i did this quest with a lvl 45 who did appointment to jeuno with me and a lvl 43. im a lvl 30 WAR/13 WHM. we killed the kraken like nothing but you can get the nightflowers on your own its easy.

It was wasy to me. I had my 30 RDM. I went up to the before I went up to the Kraken, I casted Invisible and Sneak. I did not get aggroed. I got CS. Then I got warped with WARP II from a lvl 50 blm to Jeuno. It's easy!

man this is the easiest job to unlock the only thing you have to worry about is the kraken its about level 40 especially if your on a good job but i soloed this quest in about 5 mins

when i go to Dietmund to trigger the quest he says, "you again? go tell him that chocobo is mine" who is "him" and why cant i get quest im well above 30 in 5 jobs and i do have chocobo licence <Please> <help me out!>

I am having the same problem. I visited Dietmund and I saw his son, but he only talked about the chocobo. Now he only says "You again? How many times do I gotta tell ya? That chocobo's mine. Go tell him I want it back, or else." I went to Brutus and he only says "If you can read their minds, you might have what it takes to be a beastmaster. But no teachin' can help you there... No sirree!" Shalott says "They learn your scent after you feed them by hand each and every day for a really long time."
I have completed the "Chocobo's Wounds" and the "Chocobo on the Loose!" quests. I also went down to the flowers and it said "Now that night has fallen, the flowers bloom with a strange glow." I don't have the BST flag quest listed under "Current Quests" either.
Can someone help me? I really wanna try out this job and this quest is supposed to be easy. ;)

Also having this problem. This place seems to be the only site that even mentions any of this. I tried doing the quest as if he did give it to me, but it didn't work.
Soloed as soon as I got my first char to 30 (RDM). Cast sneak and you can walk right around the Kraken. You'll get to the flowers, trigger the cutscene, and be done with the "hard" part of your quest. At the end of the cutscene, you still have sneak, and are untouched.

The quest doesn't end when you visit the house and get the whistle. You also need to go to see Brutus at the Chocobo Stables in Upper Jeuno and he will then give you the flag.
Did it as a 50 PLD no problem. Beat down kraken. then got flowers
I triggered this quest on accident and decided to check it out anyway, I got to the flowers after the sun had come up though. No kraken and no cutscene. ;p

I went as a mnk/rng mnk being my only lvl 1 job, it was a piece of moochi, i went down, freqeuntly checking widescan from kraken, he wasn't there so i ran to flowers.
When flowers started to glow i press them and got cut scene...
though as soon i got back i got 1-hit'd and Hp'd to jeuno

lol i used to just hang out by kraken just to help all the lil ones finish their quests. one day i got a wild hair and decided to touch the flowers, wouldnt u know i had quest activated and i got flag lmao......musta had it for mnths cause i dont remember talking to the father at all lol

I was waiting by the kraken, having a nice discussion, when the flowers started glowing at around 21:10. I thought about it for a second, then decided to check them out. I got the cutscene.
You don't need to wait until 22:00. I'm now curious how early they do start glowing. 20:00 is the undead start time, so I would guess that would be the trigger time for the flowers as well.

21:00 is when they really start to glow....they start glowing kinda at 20:00, but 21:00 is when u can touch them and cs starts

The directions were great. walked halfway down the path and used a sneak on my 30/15 WAR/MNK. I walked right up to the kraken, got my flowers. This was easier than the ranger quest. Thanks guys

Well i did this today since i had gotten my lvl to 30 yesterday. First thing i did was buy some silent oils and some prism powder to avoid an aggro. I got down to the hill and it was around 11:00 vana time and I waited. By the it was 20:00 another guy was there and ran around the edge to where the Kraken was. I checked him and he was a lvl 32 whm. I thought to myself,"He's dead." Then he came back around the corner and thought, "He had sneak on..." When 22:00 came around I used a silent oil and ran around the corner to find the flowers and stragely no Kraken. I viewed the cutscene and that was the end of it but I did wonder where did the Kraken go because I saw it before I ran down there.

I just did this yesterday (Just got my First job to 30, so i'm trying to get the extra Jobs)
anyway, I didn't have a lot of exp so if i died i would de-leveled, so i changed to THF/RDM, they were both lvl 1, Don't know why RDM, and THF wasn't attentional.
anyway, I would recomend people who havn't done this, or are going to unlock BST to Change to THF, head to the ramp dovy (Heading Down to the flowers) before night fall, to avoid the weights and all that, and wait for the right time, then run in, and use your 2 hour ablity, Perfect Dodge, I did that, and it was very effective, got to watch the Cutsceen as well as run back the way i came...I died with one hit ^_^
But i got it non the less.
Don't know if someone has said this before, but it's a good plan if a) Your too poor to buy sneak item (Forget it's name) or b) you arn't a whm (Or is it RDM?) with Sneak.

kraken is lvl 35-40
i did this quest. I was fishing while waiting for the correct time to the see the flowers bloom. Another fellow role player showed up to get his part of this quest accomp. Well I saw at 5 minutes early (nightfall (22:00) the flowers bloom. I clicked on the flower and the cut scene played through, when through I walked towards the beach directly away there, and saw the still not moving other player "hmm.. must be viewing cut scene still. I started backup the path and all of a sudden he comes running past me and scoots up and around out of sight running as fast as he can towards the safety of Jeuno. LOL the powerful Kraken (can you say sea horror !) had dumped his hate on him. I walked back to Jeuno watching the train of MOBs gather behind him.
He made it through the last mountain pass. I know cause that is where I saw his ko'ed bod. I ran to the tunnel. Finished the quest, got my bst flag.

I did this two nights ago, using a lvl1 job and two Silent Oils. Qufim mobs are almost all sound-aggro, with the exception of gigas/giants, which i believe aggro to sight. There's some magic aggro too, but it's not relevant if you use this method.
I used the first Silent Oil as I left the tunnel into Qufim proper at 10pm Vanadiel time, and headed directly west as quickly as possible (autorun), giving any gigas a wide berth. The Oil wore off just as I hit the path down to the kraken's cave, which was fine - the path is very quiet, with no mobs until you get to the cave. I stopped, used the second Oil, hit the cave, targeted the flowers, and got the cutscene. Once it was done, I attacked the kraken and got one-hit back to my HP in Jeuno, with no xp loss (lvl 1) ^^.
One more tip - buy the two Oils you need for this before you arrive in Jeuno, as they are double normal price there, at least on my server.

well, I tried this as a LV40 PLD solo... and died. I used my 2hr, shield bash, Sentinel, all my mp... but at least I had the presence of mind to grab the flowers with 19 hp left. I got the subjob and a quick ride back to my hp in jeuno. ;)
