You know, I was in a party in Qufim with a BLM that just happened to have a scroll of Tractor on him when he got to level 25...I thought he was just really eager to learn the spell, but maybe he too was in a party that killed a Wight and got one...maybe he's the BLM you're talking about
i never have really needed this spell yet but it is alot of fun to tractor around your friends in the middle of town people are like WTF?!?! still very usefull spell though

OK! Tractor mearly moves a body, its purpose is to get a characters corpse out of harms way so it can be properly raised! And I think its easy to figure the majority of Black Mages sub White Mage, so tractor+raise you've saved the day. You say its useless, but if you got stuck in a situation like this you would probably say "They should have made a telekenetic spell so I can get out of this mess!" Don't knock it till you try it, its come in pleanty use for me. And it does not warp a body their home point.
I agree. Im a blm / whm and I will never look down on any spells. These our our abilities people. In real life you don't say things like, "I don't see the point of getting a driver's liscense, I can just walk around and save money." do you? Of course not. All spells are handy and get the job done for each unique situation. If you don't invest in all of the spells, you are not reaching your potential. Besides, even if you have NEVER needed to use a certain spell, which if you play enough is unlikely, at least should the need ever arise you will be ready.
This spell is great! A high lvl WHM/BLM cast it on me to move my sorry **** from the middle of a clan of goblins to a more safe place next to a wall. /wait 10 "Allow yourself to be raised?" HELL YEAH! Good spell for BLM's to help us dead guys out!
Yeah, a while ago we had a similar situation. We were in Beadaux finishing the PLD quest, and we all got aggroed by Pugils.... and then VERY High lvl orcs (Incredibly Tough to our lvl 60+ BLM/WHM friend)... Our BLM survived and came back to raise us to find that we were surrounded by pugils and the orcs were at the top of the hill smurking down at us.
"Don't you have tractor?" I said.
"Oh yeah!!" she replied, as she ran down stream. She tractored all our corpses down stream (probly about a half-mile IRL, lol) to a safe spot where she could raise us.
This spell is VERY handy, indeed! I am buying it tonight for my DRK.
you can cast it on any player. was playing my WHM the other day and attempting to Raise a party member, but a mischievous BLM friend in another party kept Tractoring my Raise target away from me and interrupting my casting. O_o
have yet to find a real use for this spell, but i'm sure it'll show itself soon enough..
I am a level 26 BLM, Tractor is used to move a dead person to where you are standing, not any bind points. Trust me, I have used it and it works and is very useful in the right circumstances. I have not tried using it from a long distance, just your average spell casting distance.
It's safe to say that the range of this spell is limited to one area, but does anyone have an idea of what that range is? I can already see that this spell is useful, but if the range is large enough it can make things a lot less daunting.
No no, i have this spell. Tractor does not send corpse to the bind spot. It has it's limits like all spells. It just allows you to retrieve a body if the dead person is willing...transporting him to the area where the is cast (a limited distance away).
If you think it's useless for a black mage, compare it to EverQuest. Who got the summon corpse spell in that game? Necromancers. Necromancers summoned it, clerics raised it. Black mages summon it, white mages raise it.
Actually I find it is expected of a blm in missions and quest parties. Party gets half wiped in a death zone the blm can get them out for a raise and the whole mission can continue. It's not a solo spell. It's main use is in a party or area that will have other raisers handy. There is no need to be able to raise as well.
It's also best used in xp parties (retrieving your dead puller who didn't aggro the group), and defusing trains (take a trip to the crawlers nest sometime). Suck the bodies all out to one side or the other and let the raisers get them recovering. The fastest way to get parties back to xp after a train blockage/death zone episode.
i guess it would be semi useful, like if you died in front of a spawn or something or i guess if you in the middle of no where and want to move your friend to a more populated area.
my question is, does this spell have a range? do i have to physically target someone or could i use something like: /ma "Tractor" <p4> and it would pull that person to me anywhere i happen to be on the map? because of the range on this spell is kinda short, i would take this would be dangerous for a black mage as many mobs detect by magic. this spell would be cool, if it was used as a teleport spell for any in the zone to the caster. if someone gets seperated from the group you could bring them to your location in the zone.
lol your an idiot, why would it be any more useful to whm/blm then blm/whm cause tractor and raaise are both lvl 25, makes no difference, and dont mock the blm, they can hit harder then anythin else out there, thunder IV Blizzard IV, friend hit 746 on a damselfly O.o lol
ever notice who all the most ignorant posts are from anonymous people? yes this spell is useful scenario.. somethin goes wrong, tank provokes tells everyone to run, everyone else reachs safely, tank is dead near the camp site thats not safe now, blm brings it back whm reses it, how difficult is that to understand? please, if your going to make any kind of negative statement about ANYthing please put a name so i know who to flame
Okay, but what if there's just a dead guy in the middle of a load of goblins and a lone blm or drk sees him, they could move him around, but not raise him. It would make a lot more sense for whm, rdm and pld to get this, since they can raise.
It would be good if you were a WHM/BLM or BLM/WHM (of course, you have to be lvl 50/25). Use tractor to bring the dead guy to safety, and then raise him...
If you were attacking a Goblin camp and your WHM or WAR died right in the middle of the camp while three IT creatures were standing on their rotting corpse... a raise would only mean certain death right after they were brought to live. By using this spell you can pull the body to a safer location to do the raise. Not completely useless, tho I agree that is mostly not usefull.
