Un-Pop?
# Apr 20 2006 at 9:27 PM Rating: Decent
This is soooo amazing, it happened twice today, i just got to 7 BLM and I've been using Bind prolly more than i should be, and i decided to have a little fun with it. I decided i would bind a bumblebee in sarutabaruta, and then run, then repeat. and after maybe the 5th time of doing that, it disappeared!!! Then i decided, well, i can do that for enfeebling skill ups, so i did it again with a pugil, and after the 3rd time, it did the same thing!!! Can a mob un-pop?

btw, what affects the time something is bound?

i know this is >really< late, but i'll still take a shot at answering. mobs un-pop when they go unclaimed for a certain amount of time. they go unclaimed if you have not inflicted any damage and are out of their roaming area.

things that affect time bound: your enfeebling skill level, the mobs level, and the mobs resistance to dark. i'm not sure if weather or moon phase has anything to do, but knowing SE theres probably some little thing it effects.
#REDACTED, Posted: May 30 2005 at 5:25 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) this helps out solo alot coz u can bind and nuke and if ur not a staff type person and u use daggers or swords etc. u bund--->nuke--->melee only if u run out of mp or he breaks bind and recast is still counting and its really easy to get aswell because u jus kill gobs in s.gust or thats wot i did and quads drop it

I am a mage and my advice for this spell is cast it then run... Kinda like flee in the early FF games... It gives a good head start

there are three times when this spell is really nice.

1) to start the battle off; bind, then nuke the crap outta the beast, before he charges you.

2) beat the crap outta the beast, then, when low on health, bind it, back outta range, and finish it off.

3) three words. Bind And Run!! gives you an easy 5-15 second head start to reach the zone.

Normally I cast bind when in a group so I can nuke and the white mage can heal without fear of the mob running toward us. - Becides, if I can hold aggro on a bound, non-casting, non-ranged critter for a few moments, thats a few moments that it's not attacking anybody.

I recently did the Dragoon quest. and casted it on the dragon to keep it from coming. It didn't seem to care it was bound, because it came over and smacked me anyway. about 45 seconds after he ping-ponged, the spell wore off. So maybe on NMs or Special NMs it doesn't work.

Just a word of warning.

not all monster

Something to take note, this spell does not work with all monster. Yugudo (E.Sarutabaruta )does not affected by this spell.

I think it might have more to do with your spell level and how the mob rates against you, my other character is a BLM and he uses bind on the Yugudo all the time and it's effective even if the binding time varies

A blm can't really solo at all past lvl 15, so it's not all that important. At lvls 9-pt tho, its the best spell u have. Try MND down spells if yah need, tho u get those later on

this spell works awsome for soloing... as rdm/blm i was takin on toughies all the way to lvl 14 no prob havnt done it in while now that my rmd is lv 18... as blm/rdm i was takin on toughies, and evens more comforatbly, pretty well. It all depends on what other spells u can cast in time and which ones to cast first and so on...

I found it off the Amethyst and Amber Quad's in North Gustenburg, the same monster may drop it in south gustenburg too but I cant confirm this. This is right outside the city of Bastok.

it can easily be found off young quadovs in the S. and N. Gustenburg region. Very abundantly I might add.
Bind wont brake by mele
# Nov 09 2003 at 9:32 AM Rating: Good
For my experience Bind has varing duration times, i presume it depends on the resisistance of the beast, the level of the beast vs yours, and your enfebling skill level. This is all guessing tough.

I have never seen it break by casting on the beast or hiting it with mele, so it is a good tactic to bind the beast and start blasting it from afar. I never try it on even fights tough, because it lasts ALWAYS less than the 30 seconds it takes to be available for recast. Being a Black Mage i would be shreaded to pieces by an even match once he gets close even if I got half of his health from afar, not to mention it mayonly last 5 seconds on an even match.

What i do is find desent matches, bind from as far away as posible and chain cast my 2 most strongest direct damage spells (stone and water right now). The bind will break sooner or later, maybe if i am very lucky it may last full fight, but i make sure to be on auto attack before i cast bind, so that once he gets to me i can use my patetic mele damage in between of my chain casting, wish i dont stop until he is dead or i am out of MP.

After each fight i have to heal because mana just gets drained entirely.
breaks & binds
# Nov 03 2003 at 1:43 PM Rating: Decent

Anybody know anything abotu how /when Bind breaks?

Do melee attacks automatically break it,
what about nukes?

Why does it seem to get resisted so much, or is it breakign some ofthe time on nukes.

Thanks,

Cal-

lmfao, bind doesnt break from melee attacks or spells, it is not like sleep. it will last longer the more magic skill you have and the less magic defense the mob has. im a blm and i use it whenever i see that ugly mob look my way, im only a lil taru you know. usually while fighting incredibly toughs, bind only works 1/4 of the time, but with elemental seal, it always sticks. on another note, isnt it fun to pull with elemental seal+ sleep? :p

i've noticed that bind seems to draw a relatively large amount of hate. It is difficult to measure, precisely, because of how dynamic parties all are, and the lack of a numeric gauge doesn't help either. So why I say this- I do my line of enfeebling, and wait a few seconds and lay into the mob with nukes. No aggro. I do my line of enffebling and accidentally hit bind macro. I get aggro as soon as that thing gets off. Another possibility is that spell was the one that made my hate higher than my tank's, since i spam enfeebles (the earlier they're on, the more valuable they are). So.... if anyone knows for sure. Undeniable, irrefutable, error-proof testing, lemme know. It'd be nice to know the hate factor for each enfeeble. And for the record, I've seen no difference between resisted and non resisted spells, mobs seem to hate me all the same.

From what I understand, the magic shop in Windhurst will only sell this spell when Windhurst is in first place. If it isn't in the shop you have to kill Yogudas to find the spell.
good spell!

no way, i was able to cast 2 stone and 2 water on an orc today using bind.. they thing was frozen for like 15+ seconds!
Looted
# Nov 02 2003 at 6:18 PM Rating: Decent
I looted it outside Windhurst from one of those chicken-looking things (yagasomething), but I haven't reached lvl 7 yet. How long does it keep the mob rooted?
Where is this spell?

You must be a poor mage then. This is THE solo spell. You don't have it? You can't solo later on.
