This should be a weapon skill move. I think the more the damage from this weapon skill attack the more the gil it drops but you have to split the gil with the pt. that might make it better wtih the 15minute timer and all.

Even with low amount stolen on most mobs, this JA would own if it did dmg too.

The problem with this ability (and gilfinder for that matter) is it doesn't take into account inflation. You're still mugging for the same ammount even though the gil is worth a lot less. And with the 15 min cooldown, it's kind of pointless. Square really should replace it with some other ability
terrible

terrible. THF really got the shortest straw on this one
Mug creates gil, hence inflation.

Only purpose this ability has is for claiming NMs. Luckily because this is so useless, i never use it making it always available for use. Thank you SE ^^

Mug was nerfed a while back because people were exploiting it to steal 10k gil every 5 minutes from certain NMs. (Mug + Flee meant even THFs much lower than the NM's could do this). That's 120k gil an hour. (That's not as much now as it used to be, before massive inflation 120k could buy leaping boots). Even now 120k/hr is still pretty awesome. They had to nerf it because THFs were killing the economy... not that I'm blaming them, I would have done the same as THF if I could. It's just something SE had to do.

Bull it was, and still is the gil sellers/buyers killing the economy. And eather way the money was earned, since any 3rd party programs get cault quikly farming that way. And acounds getting band from useing them.

i dont care what u say bout this job ability. gil is gil. but i do agree the recasting time sux a**. but when ur a lvl 32 thief and only having less than 50k and is too lazy and impatient to camp NMs it may help. thats why i want to get lvl 35 soon. maybe u could go to playonline.com and complain to them. so to me Mug is an ability i want cuz ...... GIL IS GIL.

This is without a doubt the most worthless ability in the game. Stealing 4-100 gil every 15 minutes is completely pointless. If you could steal 500 every 5 minutes, you'd inflate the economy like crazy. So, this move just has to stay how it is, and suck.
It suck's nuff said!!

This ability is pathetic, ridiculous, and otherwise very useless. I dont see the point of square making it so gimped, money is difficult enough to come by as it is. This ability utterly stupidx10 I dispise it! This is only my opinion make your own decision, so don't let my views form yours, because the game is a lovely game.

Can someone tell me if Mug works in Ballista? What an insult to have a naked level 35+ THF running round nabbing your gil.

It can steal up to 10 petras from the other player.

Very nice....

And funny when you are against a theif..

And watch them steal from you team mate

and then you steal the petras back. :D

I've seen a THF Mug over 3000 gil off of Aquarius, the high level crab in the Boyahda Tree. Not bad, but then again how often do you face mobs like Aquarius.

Actually, this was a 3 minute ability a long time ago I believe, well before the North American version of the game was out. According to the few sources I have, it was regularly thought of as too good, and many thiefs would use it constantly while farming/grouping (and also on a few VERY lucrative unnamed mobs), racking up quite a great deal of cash over time. Square then nerfed it to the rather poor 15 minute timer we have today.

i can make more money than this gives just by killing a too weak to be worthwhile mob, i could see if the recast time was 1 minute, but 15 minutes? i'm not even gonna macro this piece of crap ability, square needs to do something about that in their next update, should be that you can steal 500 gil every 15 mins.
RE: stupid
# May 09 2004 at 3:32 PM Rating: Decent
I agree with you make it steal 500-2000 gil every 15min I mean come on.

You are totally right 15min for 7-20 gil it sjust stupid with the cool down on it.

It should be back to 3min hell 5min to macro it to stealSince we have to wait for steal anyways.
5min is a perfect time for how little you get money.

Using this on any creature doesn't guarantee stacks of $100 bills or mountains of gold coins. You gotta know what types to steal from to make this ability worthwhile. Most money Ive ever Mugged is 112g. Now some may say thats not worth it but that is 112g you didnt have before that...thats a chocobo ride.

If you just put steal and mug on the same macro just to make sure you mug as often as you can, you'll more than make up for chocobo costs. (excluding jeuno chocobo's of course ><)

the amount of gill u can mug depends on how hard mob is and his gill pool -> the mob which drop u much money will give u much moer money from mob than mob which give u almost nothing

good mob at lvl u get mug to try and see difference are "golems" in quifim or in quifim tower :)

higher lvl mob -> higher money from mug

it loook like too there is some range for how much u can get - personally dont know if any stat has any influence on it -> or when u are back off mob dont know cant say anything on this.

but higher lvl mob -> higher money :) its reall :)

Mugger
# Feb 09 2004 at 9:41 AM Rating: Default
Yep this should be called "Mug" and it is every 15 minutes. All the guides I've looked at have said this was 5 minutes. So apparently by the time I purchased this game, Squaresoft must have switched it because people found an exploit.

This ability is quite useless.. The best I here is to "Mug" from that Goblinsavior Herionix guy (please don't hurt me if I spelt that wrong) He might get you 1k... He's a high level mob though, so the 15 minute limit will make sure you only steal from him once.

This should be just like the other Final Fantasy game Mugs and let you attack while doing it. Since you have to wait 15 minutes I don't see the harm in it, because it's pretty useless the way it is now. Might as well add a little pizazz regardless that it's still pointless.

Mug like other FF?

Is this like the MUG in other FF's, you do a hit too, or just grab some gil? Really it does seem kinda cheesy for level 35 if that is all it does. An additional attack though might make it a bit better.

This skill is actually called Mug and is on a 15 minute recast timer. Best way to use it is on mobs too high for you to solo when they aren't looking. I've ganked about 100 gil of an IT mob in Davoi then fleed away.

Otherwise, only try stealing from mobs that have gil normally when you kill them (Goblins, Orcs, Yagudo, Quadav), otherwise you'll fail and hate yourself for 15 minutes.

It's another one like Steal where it is best to use when the mob is not focused on you and is in the middle of a swing.

I used it for the first time today, on a goblin shaman in Sauromugue, and I stole 14 gil.
