I got a question about this ability. Say a BST gets a IT mob and has it fight a VT mob and gets the VT down to 1-2%HP then uses leave. Will the BST gain all the Xp or will he loose some?

I've been trying to track this down, but so far no luck. Would anyone mind posting what the actual recast time for Leave is?

ok everyone i wanna make this clear......
they fixed it so that a pet will only affect
the bst maters xp....i know this for a fact
as i was being power lvled i had a friend in the pt he was getting 200xp a kill and i was getting about 142xp a kill because i had a pet so pets no longer affect the pt's xp

for pets EM and less (including jug pets) PT XP was never affected (at least since NA).

if you are in a party and you charm something that is higher than the highest member of your pt, it would be the same as if there was a higher level in your party, there would be an XP cut for everyone (weather you release or not)

When I was a lvl 30 PLD walking through Korroloka Tunnel to get to Altepa when I examine a WHM in the overated Holy Breastplate. He must have been one of those d***s who get mad at /checks. The only reason I examined him was because he subbed BST under his lvl 56 WHM and he had a pet 'Doom Scorpion'. He made the scorpion stay and he zoned to Korroloka, leaving me a PLD with 250 DEF in the path of a Doomer. The pet aggroed me and did 170 damage a hit even with my 250 DEF. I messaged the guy and no response. What makes you high levels pick on us midbies?

Actually, he might not have left you with the pet on purpose. Pets don't zone with BSTs, they get left behind and instantly become uncharmed. So unless he used leave I doubt he did it on purpose.

#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 25 2004 at 10:28 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) this is why no one wants bst in a pt.i was in g citadel with lvl 33 brd....dont know what went through this lvl 75 bst mind, probaly nothing.he wanted to kill the npc at zone do he brings a BEETLE to zone and releases it.course it AGGRO people zoning in.frankly they should get 1 WARNING then delete accounts of people who do that.

Nobody wants bst in parties because of a misconception about "Xp Loss".. /rolls eyes.
Why don't you try and invite a bst to your party sometime. They do some very reasonable damage, and are one of the best pullers in the game.

As for releasing.
Every job has a dif means of slaughtering people that irritate them. (Blm train + warp, Thief Train + Invis, etc) Not just Bst. Bst are just better equipped for it, being closer in level to the mobs they would pull on you. =p

Will the pet attack you when you set it free or will it walk away?

Thats why you get the ability "Stay." Use Stay, get out of aggro range and release.

If the monster you release is agressive, you have around 5-10 seconds before it returns back to its normal behavior. (but then again you can all ways "stay" then run away.. then release.)

Free pass:

I had to get around a scorp that I didn't wanna bother killing, but would have still aggro'd me (D Challenge).

So I charmed the scorp, stayed it, walked far enough for it to not show its health bar and then used leave. Cya scorpy.

p.s. Pre-Sneak which would have been faster in this situation.
