If you want to complain about godawfull abilities go play dark and complain about arcane circle. This can not be as bad as that, it gives you FREE stuff and that can never be bad. /rant off

i have an idea for all those rangers that think this is is a useless ability. after i say my hint, im probably gonna get rated dwon a lot, but here goes:

well i started ranger and while waiting 4 party in dunes i found : 3 jars of firesand ash lumberx4 arrow wood lumberx5 yagudo fltchng x1 boltheads .. acid or poison not sure and m7y coupe de grace a box containing dogbolts +1 (17) and a quiver of crude arrows (regular 17)
in this 4-5 hour time i scavenged ..oh 25-30 times give or take 5 but i think its comepletely random with better items at lower chances i hope this helped ^_^

I almost never get any items when i use this, do the chance increase when my lvl increase?

i think as you get the AF body this becomes more usful 60+ ranger get darksteel bolts heads pricey on sylph other than that i never gotn anything sweet like that but wood is 60 so i jus use items to make new arrows

Oh, one more thing. I haven't seen any of the old items that I used to get since the update, has anyone else experienced this issue?
while partying in Qufim, i managed to scavenge the following:

I found arrowood logs, bird feathers, insect wings, chocobo feather, rotten quiver, rusty bolt case. Is that all u can find ?
normally, a ranger in real life will be usually short of arrows or finding things he can shoot with (defend himself), so he scavenges to see if he can find anything that can relate to arrow making...

ok got a question. Can you find things in a city(jeuno,sandy,windy...)
I find it highly amusing that so many people find this ability "worthless" and then come here to complain about it; without listening to the responses of what others say.
First off, no you don't find arrows. What you do find are arrow synthing materials. If you are lvling Ranger I would hope that you are leveling woodworking as well....
What else do you find; rusty bolt cases and rotten quivers... you guys say these are worthless; and at sale value yes they are. But lets not forget that most of your damage is coming from your bow, not your arrows. Sure, I wouldn't use these in tough battles if I had stronger arrows, but they are something to fall back on, and they are nice to use for pulling so you have your normal arrows for WS, Barrage, Sidewinder.

Why, tell me why would square soft come up with such useless abilities for one of the most expensive jobs in the game? All of the Ranger's abilities should have some sort of value to the job. Why waste the time using this move only to find useless items everytime. The items u find don't even sell good on the AH! This is just another way that square soft and square enix have come up with to take up your valuable inventory space. With the Chains of Permitiha Expansion, I hope that the people who do this for a living can think up something, I don't know.... USEFULL!!!!

This ability isnt gay. everytime you use scavenge and find something, its always used in woodworking. unless you have leveled woodworking, most people will say that this is a gay abilty, b/c none of the items sell for a lot by themselves. Rangers that have lvled woodworking will always tell you that this is NOT a useless rng ability

ok, if anyone can actualy tell me if they EVER found ANYTHING good with this skill i would like to know. so far i found this to be a wast of time. i think it is prity cheap u can only find like 4 or 5 crappy items with a skill u get......
I have Scavenged arrowwood lumber, elm (or was it ash) lumber, bird feathers, chocobo feathers, chocobo fletchings, horn arrowheads, firesand and 'old' items before... not bad for a Ranger to pick up, considering they're components in arrow/bolt crafting or emergency ammo.

rusty bolts and old arrows come out of rotten quiver and rusty bolt cases. they are not sellable(they are on AH, but no one will buy), their dmg is weaker, and they actually hurt your accuracy. but for those of us who arent millionaires or havent gotten their woodcrafting skill very high, they give you free arrows and bolts to use in battle. Im sure everyone has at one time or another wasted a good arrow in a fight they didnt need to, or ran out of arrows and either had to leave the grp hanging or just deal less dmg with sword/dagger attacks. ive gotten as many as 150 old arrows just scavanging in a party, while I had 200 iron arrows I had bought. guess what? I used the old, no one noticed any drop in my attacks, and I still had 200 iron arrows, instead of having to buy 200 more. so it was worth something to me.

One of the things that the rusty ammo would be useful for as a rng would be a Maat fight. If you go in with as much - stats as possible that affect accuracy and attack, normal or ranged, it will help you beat maat, since he will have the same status as when you enter the Battlefield. Idk if that has been posted yet or not, but thats just my 2 cents worth.

I'm just about to receive this skill. Are certain areas better than others to dig up useful items. At lower levels, Arrowhead logs are great to dig up to make more arrows

No you don't find the same things that a chocobo can.

I keep trying to scavenge hoping that sometime i'll find some really rare item or something that will make it alllll worth it, but no...i dislike this ability.
