are u krazy!!!

start fight....

**u use 3 shadows**
Rng casts utsusemi
**u use last 3 shadows**
shadowbind
run away
put up shadows
barrage
shoot till released..
**use shadows twice over**
sleep bolt
run back, shadows
fire away

BUT ANY TIME U GET YELLOW HEALTH SWITCH TO BLOODY BOLTS AND FIRE AWAY WITH THOSE TILL FULL

--- with this u can kill any mobs that u can control... DONT FIGHT BATS ---

why you ask... because sleep + bloody bolts dont work on them. although in partys u can do extra damage, especially with a well placed flaming arrow
Ballista uses

37 with 300 to 38. 40 in a few hours. Shadowbind will be extremely useful for farming. It may not bind the target (vt or it) for very long, but it will claim it. Very quickly. So, either farming or xp'ing, being able to claim the target before competitors is very useful. BTW, Rangers of ANY race class rock!!

Jaggedy - 0/9, Stray Mary - 1/1, Golden Bat - 3/4
Titan Server - 37rng/32sam/32war/23/mnk/15thf/14nin/others at 10 or below. They are all good.....

Ya man i hear that. 40RNG/20NIN. Rngs own all.
I have tried out Shadowbind on campin LL. camped her 7hrs yesterday. got 4claims outta 7. still no drop but w/e. Ya u are right its way better than subbing WAR and using voke. Now i can sub THF and get the drop easier.
voke vs. loxley

ranger gets shadowbind at lvl 40, not shadow sew,

no u don't have to be engaged to use it, its for a rng so he can bind the target then stand back and range, and its faster than provoke.

couple questions about this skill:

Do you have to be engaged to use it?

How quick is the shot released?

And would it actually stand a chance Vs. Provoke??
RE: questions

1) no u dont have to be engaged. in fact, i rarely engage prior to using this, unless i am solo.
heres some examples of when to use shadowbind:
a) when pulling mobs faster than u, e.g.=raptors, tigers, etc. (WARNING!!! ensure u have a clear path back to camp so they dont link when they release and follow u.)
b) when u have blm/rdm/ or another rng in pt. use shadowbind, then all of u unload from a safe distance. by the time mob releases, it should be half dead.
c) if u, or anyone else accidentally links 2 mobs on a pull. shadowbind one of them and either zone or bring to pt (if its an organized pt).
d) if pt needs to zone. btw---sleep arrows work better.

2) it releases based upon your delay time. (it does seem to go relatively quicker than a normal ranged attack tho.)
3) no, provoke is still better.

imo, elvaan rngs will never beat mithra rngs, no matter what the str diff is.

1) you don't have to be engaged
i'm level 50 now. and when i bind it and shoot again the bind disapears. so you can't bind and range it to death. it's like sleep 1 shot unbinds it
2) fast
3) it is better then provoke for a couple reasons. 1 farther range, 2 faster claim.

ok thanks, so we could say its equivalent to the release of a rapid shot with your bow/arrows delay?

sounds about right.
SOLO MADE EASY
# Jul 16 2004 at 11:25 AM Rating: Decent
ok, i hit 40 last week, and had to suspend rng so i could catch my gimpy ninja sub up (lev 30 now! yay!). anyways, some high level drg that was campin mee deggi in the castle saw me there yesterday tryin to steal his prize. he had the gall to tell me that rng are terrible to hunt big game goin solo. prior to lev40 i wouldve agreed (maybe), but now, cmon. example---versus labryinth scorpion in maze: shadowbind-bound mob for 15-20 secs, activate sharpshot, activate barrage---scorp down to almost 1/2 hp. 2-3 more shots---scorp at 1/4 hp. now hes unbound and pissed, but oh my, he cant even hit me(utsu :P). piercing arrow (tp barely over 100)---"you find a scorpion shell on the labryinth scorpion."
granted, im pretty pimped out (winged boots, emp pin, reflex rings, winged earrings, archer daggers, meat bobs, and utsusemi:ichi---but he never stood a chance, and neither would mee deggi.
imo, rng can solo better than any job other than beastmaster obviously. of course, i am very biased, but still.
oh yea---throw in sidewinder and unlimited shot/patriarch protectors arrow at higher levels and who could argue?
btw---if u have the $$$, u could solo just about anything with sleep arrows.

ok, im done.
This ability is nice

Shadowbind > Barrage > Sharpshot
Wow after that u can still shot it
When it is no longer bound, its HP already drop to half or below
(sure not for those VT, IT stuff)

When I first got this skill, I thought it was useless to use while in a party. But!

This skill claims targets fast, like provoke.

Most rangers who pull for parties probably get upset, like myself, when stupid people camp on top of you. Some camps can't support 2 parties, there are just never enough mobs. And as a ranger it is frusterating when you are aiming at an enemy, almost about to let your arrow/bullet fly, when... "Son of a *****!" Some ****** WAR runs up, provokes it, and returns to his party half dead (because provoking has them too close to the mob).

Fear not! When all the monsters run out, and its you verses a WAR, standing around waiting for the first thing to spawn, use Shadowbind and prevail! It's fast, and hopefully it is enough to discourage camp invaders. You only get it every 5 minutes, which is a crying shame. But at least its something.
Variable

It is Shadowbind. The ammount of time they are bound depends on what the con as too you. I've had Too Weaks stay bound for 30+ secs. When I try to Shadowbind an IT, I see the "<t> is no longer bound" message scroll by and then later the "Beorn uses Shadowbind" "<t> is Bound". So it doesn't even seem to affect it :)

The NA version calls this Shadowbind or Shadowstitch... one's the name of this ability and one's a dagger ws, i forget.

The dagger skill is shadowstitch. One of my coolest looking WS, but unfortunately quite useless, except when fighting DC and needing a head start to flee. In a group fighting IT it's not useable to bind monsters in place at all.
Question

How long do they stay rooted in place?
