Got to level 10 today, saw this trait, figured I might be able to go against an even rock lizard again. I can normally go against an even with too much trouble, but last time I tried against a rock lizard, I got petrified, and killed with the lizard having no visible life bar left, but me unable to move a muscle. So I attack the lizard. Of course, when he has less than 10hp left, he starts casting his baleful gaze. I start laughing at him, but then I stop when I realize I didn't resist it. The only reason I don't die is because the thing is poisoned, and drops dead a few seconds later.

I know the resists aren't going to work all the time, but if they just upped the efficiency for resists against incredebly tough monsters with the last patch, is it really asking that much to be able to resist an even match?

resist spells only 'increase' the chnace to resist a sepcific type of spells, they do not protect you in all cases against spells cast by monsters of a specific level.
guessing there would be a normal chance of 20% to resist the spell, resist might raise this to 70%, leaving still a chance of 30% to fail to resist (just an example)

Resists effects not only increase your chances of resisting an effect, but the reduce the duration that such effects last. That, in actual gameplay, is the real effect.

Every 'tick' of time that you are effected by a status effect, you have a chance of resisting that effect. It's not anything close to a +50% increase. More like raising it from 5% to 10%. Might double the chances of resist, but unless you're luck it'll still last for awhile.

Hope that helps.

Don't know if this will help any, but make sure to use your weapon skill towards the end of the fight, since that is when most mobs use theirs, that way you avoid the situation all together :)

Yes - definitely not 5th - the info on this page drove me crazy (and half my LS) as I tried to work out why this wasn't showing for me. Can someone edit this please, thx :)
