timers?
# Mar 22 2005 at 11:23 PM Rating: Decent
crazy things have been happening lately while i xp with WHMs....i think mainly it has to do with this spell.

i realized that Erase DOES lower cool-down time on some Job Abilities, i figured it out while xping in sky off golems today. I can confirm 100% that it really does happen, i might try to do some things to reinforce this in Ballista but here is what i know for sure:

while bound, WHM cast Erase (maybe DS for Erasega).....Provoke timer was at :06 secs before Erase was cast, Provoke timer immediately reset to :00 after Erase took effect.

second time it happened:

Provoke timer was at :14 seconds when Erase took effect, afterwards Provoke timer jumped to :10 seconds

both of these times, i had Provoke highlighted on my Job Abilities list so i know the exact times.

it might have something to do with having status effects on you in order for it to work....maybe??

Edit: false alarm, i've tampered with it some more and it just seems to be "spell lag" which happens periodically...nevermind >.>

recast time of Erase is 15 seconds

very important to have vs. Formors due to their AOE Drown effect that is very potent. (Barwatera will up the resistance, but doesn't always do the trick.)

i go tank > mages > melee. if i can't get to a melee right away, i give them regen to reduce that DOT and buy some time.
I need it!

If anybody is on Carbuncle Server please hook me up with any BCNM's or something, cause i have been farming forever it feels, and the spell is about 400k even. People wont let me in there parties cause they say Erase is a must! which i dont really think its a must because i have whm friends that are level 70+ that dont have erase yet. /tell Darkonix if your on Carbuncle

Erase and the Sprouts
# Nov 01 2004 at 4:13 PM Rating: Default
My BCNM Party is 18-0 against the sprouts, it is an easy BCNM. Our Party consists of a BRD WHM RDM DRK RNG and MNK. the DRK goes in first gathers the Mandies, the MNK vokes the Black Mandy...BRD sleeps the group of regular ones, DRK MNK and RNG kill the Black one, while RDM Heals/Enfeebles the Black and PT killing black while WHM keeps BRD at FULL HP. Once Black one is dead RNG(me) pulls Mandies away from the BRD to opposite side of circle and DRK MNK RNG kill them 1 at a time until all Mandies are dead. We each take home about 100K+ average per round of 6 BCNM fights after all drops are sold and divided. I hope this helps anyone attempting to get the Erase, I suppose I should have posted this under the BCNM thread page but oh well. Good luck to you if you try it.
What does this work on?

Does Erase get rid of, say, curse or virus, or does it only get rid of the stat down effects, dia, and bio?

Removes BURN!
# Oct 06 2004 at 12:21 PM Rating: Decent
How about with the new Burn effect in movopolos that the nasty bombs leave behind taking off 11 HP/sec I can see where erase would come in handy
Price keeps going up
# Oct 01 2004 at 11:52 AM Rating: Decent
Price of this on Valefor is now 400K.
It's sick...

:(
Latest Price on Phoneix
# Sep 30 2004 at 10:19 PM Rating: Decent
FYI, last I checked Erase cost about 300k gil at the Auction House in Jeuno on Phoneix. This is too high a price for me as a 36 level white mage. I also want to do "Moogles In The Wild", "The Gobbiebag Part III", and "The Gobbiebag Part IV". Looks like I will be gil farming for a while. I also will try to get my friends to help me do the BCNM battles. It also will help me use up those [link=]beastman seals[/link] I have been saving! I will post again when I learn more information about which BCNMs drop the Erase scroll.

Things it can remove that nothing else can :
Slow (there is no Slowna)
Atk. Down (unless you enjoy hitting for half damage)
Eva. Down
Def. Down (unless you enjoy being killed in 1 hit by dhalmels)
Str. Down
Vit. Down
And well, any other nasty condition there's no -na for.

A group with an Erase WHM and a dispel RDM will make way more xp/hour then a group without. Don't diss the spells just because you're angry it's expensive.

Slow (there is no Slowna) >>> Haste can take care of this.

Haste does NOT cancel Slow, but if you have Haste active, you CANNOT be slowed. If you cast Haste on a slowed PT member, it will say it has no effect.

Haste prevents and cancels slow effects from SOME mobs. Crawlers are an example of this. If you are hasted and a crawler uses its slow ability, you will simply remain hasted.

Other mobs have slow abilities that are stronger than Haste. Spiders are one example. Even if you are hasted already, a spider mob will still cancel your haste and slow you. If your tank is slowed against a mob with a move as deadly as Sickle Slash, you will be very very happy to have Erase on your side.
RE: Off the top of my head
# Jul 19 2005 at 2:15 AM Rating: Decent
Haste will cancel and grant immunity some slow status, with the exception of AoE slow and repeated slow moves from say Diremites or Crawlers. But haste is whm40/rdm48, and when you get a whm50+, and are hit with AoE slow, Divine Veil + Erase would be the best way of handling the stats down.

You can be slowed if you have haste active. You can haste yourself or a party member to remove slow sometimes. I'll admit I have no answers as to when it works and when it doesn't, but from personal experience in soloing...as well as XP, I can tell you both. The hasted can be slowed, and haste has a chance of overwriting slow.

Better luck next time.
RE: Off the top of my head
# Oct 21 2004 at 1:30 PM Rating: Decent
NO it cannot, I was in quicksand caves and when beetles do their slow move, when I cast haste it will not overwrite it. Mob's slow is stronger then haste at higher levels. Hope this helps.
RE: Off the top of my head
# Jan 30 2005 at 4:59 PM Rating: Default
ive been in pts fighting mobs WAY higher level than bettles in quicksand, and i know that haste does cancle haste but it doesnt always stick and sometimes haste prevents you from getting slowed. they go both ways next time you get slowed cast haste on yourself a bunch of times youll see that it does remove it.

A. AGI Down is a Nightmare for Ninja's Evasion Down is also bad ... Erase is only spell that negates these effects

B. STR Down is a nightmare for War/Dark ... Erase is only spell that negates this effect.
RE: why
# Aug 13 2004 at 11:59 PM Rating: Decent
It costs a lot of money because it's a rare BCNM drop. Also, in certain rare situations, it is very useful. Max MP Down is an incredibly bad status effect that can only be cured by Erase. If your PLD gets Dia'd, he needs to med, you can Erase that too. I was just saying it's overrated because it's not something that you NEED until you start fighting things with really nasty status effects. You do tend to avoid those mobs too. When you hit 40 as a WHM, find a good BCNM group and do a couple of runs. Get your Erase, use it, and split any remaining gil from items sold. You can buy yourself some nice things if you get a good run of BCNM40. If you don't get a chance to do one, don't really save money to buy it. It's a luxury item, the same way Astral Rings are nice to have after level 40... Electrum rings.
Do buy all the -na spells, like Stona, because they ARE extremely needed.
Overrated
# Aug 12 2004 at 4:34 AM Rating: Default
Most overrated spell in the game. You might need it later, but it very rarely comes in useful, I'd say less useful than Raise II even if you have a GOOD PT ;D
Use it if you get it in a BCNM and you're pretty well off, otherwise just sell it. As Casio said, it doesnt remove anything they have a debuff for: Poison, Curse, Petrify, etc.
It does remove "x" Down effects, plus Dia and Bio. There are a few other things it gets rid of, but it is only useful in rare situations. I cast it to get rid of INT Down on my melees today, woo hoo...

RE: ahh, the power of erase
# Apr 03 2005 at 3:33 PM Rating: Decent
Actually, Mog House erases all. Was out leveling a subjob when I was killed. Got a raise and didn't want to wait for weakness to pass, so I ran to my Mog House. Walked in and weakness gone. it really works.
RE: ahh, the power of erase
# Apr 10 2005 at 1:46 PM Rating: Decent
Yea, the Mog House is great. Nice to be able to change jobs and change back having full hp/ full mp and All status's removed.

Obviously this isn't possible when your XPing in a place far away from an MH. So I would say try to get this spell through a good BCNM pt when your level 40+. It will come quite handy when your NIN gets a AGI or EVA Down. Or dia/bio.
RE: ahh, the power of erase
# Sep 20 2006 at 7:18 PM Rating: Decent
no it doesnt. i've tried it. only time removes the weakened status
