Beware, escape will nerf any treasure that your party has not lotted on.

We just lost a Palborough chest key this way. :P

Well first off i am a level 74 blm and have used this spell alot in my xp pts. I can not remember how many times i have had to save my pt with it. The only trouble with it, aside from the long cast time, is that it costs to much mp. If you are fighting and you are up to a chain 3 or 4 going for a chain 5, usually that is when you get the link. And usually by that point, my mp is not high enough to escape, if the link comes halfway thru the battle, hopefully i have not used my 2 hour:-). So it is a great spell saved me lots of lost xp. And another thing, people do not cry if a blm uses his better judgement and uses escape in a situation that could be fatal. All you have to do is walk back to camp alive with no xp loss. I have had so many people cry oh we almost had it dead, they do not take into consideration that the blm is usually watching the mp stats of the healer or healers. If the whm or rdm is full mp i will not escape and will sleep the link if possible. But if the whm has less than 100 mp and everyone is getting hammered, i dont care how uber you think you are you are going to die if i dont escape you. And in areas where escape does not work teleport anything is a viable option.

I forgot to try this out when I entered Ranguemont Pass ><

When you enter the pass from E. Ron, you have to go through a gate which is a "one-way" only gate. If this be the case, can I use my Escape spell (BLM) to wind up at the other end of the pass in Beaucadine Glacier? This would be a nifty trick to save time =).

Otherwise, does the Escape spell only zone you to the location from where you entered the dungeon (thus BLMs 29 and up and their party members being exempt from the pass' "one-way trip" rule)?

Or maybe Escape warps you to the nearest exit (as opposed to the one you entered from)? If so, can Escape be used when you are near the zone to Beaucedine Glacier? As a result, you'd cut the walking distance in half =)

I would think you'd Escape to the zone you last entered from. Did an Escape in Gustav Tunnel last night and we ended up in Valkurm Dunes, where we entered from.

Not entirely true. I hear of people using Teleport-Altep and Escape as a quick trip to Bastok. They just go into Korroloka Tunnel from the desert, cast Escape, then they end up in Zeruhn Mines. Each dungeon probably has a specific place you escape to. It would be interesting to find out where you come out of the Pass, but you really only have to walk through there one time after you get the Vahzl Crystal.

If you are planning on using this spell, first make sure everyone knows, move right behind your tanks because that's who you don't want to move and are usually the first people the mob(s) are going to hit. Your whm/rdm/smn should move close to you at this time (macro it and give a warning). The best time to actually start this cast is right when you hear, "Sh**, they linked..." Get right behind your tanks and tell your puller that you've started the Cast.

Questions... If BLM starts casting in the middle of a fight... and someone dies... would the dead be left behind?

And a tip... I guess a little out of the topic.. but if you are in the high lvls (and you are/PT with a 58 RDM/BLM) I guess is better to leave escape to the rdm, it would take half the time to cast it...

OK i was in crawlers Nest last night and we had a party of lvl 39-42. we were fighting the beatles and when pulled on accidentally agroed a scorpion, and 2 beatles. I was the lvl 39 WHM and i said start casting escape as the first is almost dead. The BLM then did it and when just as spell casted i died and the BLM died LOL and we all escaped out. I guess if you time it just right then yes dead come too. BUT BE SURE TO HAVE A PERSONE WHO KNOWS HOW AND WHAT TO PULL.

One day in qufim, as my lvl 49blm, I came across a hero who was dying against 2 Banshees at the tower(newb train).

Cured him and took one off of him.

I recieved an Escape Scroll off the Banshee.

Qufim gots some good BLM spells, just get the party to assist you to fight BLM wights(Tractor) and Banshee(Escape)

It takes 15 seconds not 30.
It is worth it, instead of whm running towards the exit 5mins away, he can just cure the tanks and hold the line. And when I use this spell, we dont have an option to run away.

But last time i casted it, i lost one man, he was healing in the back, I felt so bad that happen, I even put Marcos in it, dont understand why he didnt move in.

It is useful, I have saved my party members with it.

Someone inside crawler nest pulled 3 INC TOUGH beetles and we all said "we are freaking dead if we fight" so I said, wantme to use scape?

They say sure cool... they tanked for the 30 seconds and we scaped. It's also very useful if you are very deep inside the dungeon or Lost (LOL) wich can happen if you dont have map. Also, it's not just the walk out be cause for example, inside gusagen mines, there is NO WAY to avoid fight and it saves a lot of time.

This is not like after 1 min of fighting. "hey we all have red HP numbers... umm I think we can't take it, use scape" lol you have to anticiapte a little. But still it cant save you from nasty spawns and that kind of bad luck/spot stuff. I think its a nice spell.

Right now LV39 BLM/18WHM =)

Like others said Escape should be used to save time and as tool (not get out when everyone has red hp) or, when you get agroed. This doesn't teleport alliance members.

30 second cast time is fine. Least for our group. Oh no, a monster is gonna work us. Paladin(tank) uses invincible, thus pulling all agro, BLM starts casting. We all get out, tanks invincible is longer then cast time.

Or thief uses flee and leads monster away. We all get out. There are TONS of uses for this.

Oh and a great time saver to get out of areas when finished with em.

30 seconds isnt a big deal, quit compaining...the only real use of this spell is a time saver, not to escape from enemies...u use it if u are deep in a dungeon and want to get out without walking for 10 minutes...

Escape is by far one of the best 'oh crap, were in trouble' spells/job ability anyone can have.

Ok, so you have to be in a dungeon in order to work right?

I think its kinda funny how the word Escape means here :P for such a long casting time!! it should be named "gate alone while others and maybe you die too" instead hehe

cast time should be 5seconds or 7sec MAX!! I am too poor at the moment to buy it, spent 7120gil on StoneII had 0 gil after that,,, now I Have around 1,300 gil ^_^ escape is around 3000 in Jenou I think!
