So I'm out killing beastmen in Lufaise Meadows, as 58 sam subbing drg, and I'm killing this mnk type orc and I double attack. At first I'm like "Wtf, I just double attacked!?" but then I thought about it and from what it looked like zanshin seemed to proc on a gaurd. My first hit did 33 damage and the second did 99. I did not see the guard animation, but the next attack it did do the guard animation and I hit for 32. Anyone else experienced this, or can test if this is true?
Edit: Just happend AGAIN! I criticed for 74 damage then hit for 25. Next hit I criticed for 168. Then hit for 97. I think SE made it so if the attack isn't normal zanshin can kick in.
This ablility is like a miricale for those who decide to do elvann SAM. All im doing is: miss... miss... miss... hit!... miss... With this ability however, I'll be able to finally hit more often ^^
utsusemi can't be zanshinned unless its a physical miss, the shadows are an illusion and are considered a hit, physical hits decrease enmity, and also shadows lost decrease enmity, sam's can still lose easy in pvp :P
Is it posible for Double Attack to activate after Zenshin? Cause the way I'm thinking is that once you hit after missing you would be able to hit it again. So I miss one Zenshin activate then I hit again.
Probably because in character, a SAM would be like:
SAM misses the <t>! Party Member: HAHAHA! SAM: Uhh that was a practice hit, THIS is my real hit! SAM hits the <t> for 80 damage! SAM: >_> SAM: <_< SAM: >_>
The missed hit is a "practice hit" the second one being the real one. Like something a kid would say when he misses lol.The next one is my true attack!
wouldn't this be good for the SAMs who put all of their money into Str/Att gear? I mean, before this you NEED acc, but when you get this you have an excuse to concentrate somewhat/completely on dmg maybe?
i am a lvl 66 Samurai on Ifrit server. this Zanshin is insamely good for sams+60 if you do not have war subed. by then you are looked at for Rnger or Thf for a subjob 80% of the time. this is like a Double attack for samurais. i did X2 even though i did hit the monster as Sam/Thf i am not compaining one bit about it. it helps with those who like to solo while waiting for a pt too. Ep you do tend to miss the mobs but this helps your chances of Tp/dmg to hack down the fiend that dare to venture in your path :)
I find that Zanshin activates on about 15% of my misses during XP. And when I get 90% accuracy on the parser anyway, that means Zanshin gives me less than one extra swing for every 50.
Reality is, this ability doesn't really improve the potential of SAMs, it just closes the gap between the rich and poor ones, for those SAMs who can't afford as much ACC gear (more missing = more zanshins).
Still, its better than nothing - I'm just saying that it's nothing to drool over.
So they gave SAM a new abitly but not drg, not saying it is bad but dont ya think drg needs some more abitly's? Because the job is slowly fadeing away and SE does not seem to be doing anything about it.
thats not intirely true imma 44SAM on Gilgamesh and theres 2 DRGs for every 1 SAM so DRG seems to very greatly of SAM most of the time.... its mostly cause SAM is a slow job but very rewarding to those who dont mind the slowness
It activates a lot. works really well when skill uping. This combined with double attack does not mean if you miss on your second attack you will atempt a third attack. Double attack is better, but since i like my Sam/rng, this is somewhat helpful.
I dont think it will ever replace double attack, because double attack is so valuable to damge dealers like DRK and WAR. Ya it is pretty cool that SAM finally get something that helps them deal more damage but double attack is probably going to stack with it and as for using SAM as a subjob, no way! War is just that much better as a subjob. Still it is pretty sweet and I hope they bring out some cool looking gear that enhances it's affect because that would be sweet.
Sam is a good subjob because of Meditate. It will never be wanted as a subjob because of this ability considering the ability is gained at lvl 60. But i do aggre war is still a way better sub.

Samurai is a desirable sub because of meditate, but you don't get it until level 60 either. As far as /war being a better sub, that boils down to personal taste. If you want better spike damage per hit, then go for /war, but if you want to do better DOT and pull off more weapon skills use /sam. However, samurai isn't usually accepted as a sub until your main hits 60, so you may want to use something like warrior until then.
