OK, first off this spell makes me laugh everytime I cast it.
Alright to business, I got this in Ranguemont Pass. I don't remember the <pos>, but I do know that if you stick to the right and take every right that doesn't lead to a dead-end you will run into the Hecteyes within 5 mins of running(assuming you don't have a map like me).
They all conned @ DC to me @ 35, and I was subbing NIN for the shadows. Their Black Magic is pretty strong and they cast alot of ~ga spells, which will strip your shadows. Also they have a very nasty WS move called Hex Eye, that has a very very nasty Paralyze effect. The Paralyze effect from their move kept me paralyzed 95% of it's length. I came close to death a couple of times, but luckily I didn't die.
I got mine the 3rd time it used it on me, this was with capped BLU Magic as well (108 @ 35).
Good Luck to others and make sure and not forget your Warp Scroll if you go to get this in RP like me.

No those are ahrimans, hecteyes are the globs of goo with many eye-like things floating and undulating in it.

ya i got this spell in about a few min of finding the stupid hecteyes and i thinknot worth the time or the engrey to get this unless you can mb with it

My friend Zanzaffh uses Death Ray to self MB Gravitaton BACA {Red Lotus Blade} > {Sickle Slash} MB = Death Ray (215-300dmg depending on mob but no less then 215 if they arent dark type) So it isnt so bad as you are all making it seem. It has its uses, and yes it deffinatley looks like something out of DBZ. ^^

Well i just got this the other day. I used on bats did 4 dmg (dark based i know >.< ) then i did on a beetle and did about 40-50 dmg but mostly in the 20s. its alot of MP for that much dmg so i dont find it worth it yet. its magic based,not physical. im hoping its way better on light based mobs or on a MB but at lvl 34-35 i dont see how its usefull yet.
I *think* it is a Heavy Paralysis spell. Not 100% sure though.

Eh, I'm not the world's biggest Death Ray fan. I had a friend tell me he thought it was cool, but only because it looks like something out of Dragonball Z.
I was a little disappointed after getting this spell. It doesn't really deal as much damage as I feel it should, considering the MP cost, and it doesn't seem worth it stat-wise to equip this spell. I haven't had a chance to MB with it yet, but I doubt that it will significantly improve.
Overall, it's a pretty neat looking spell, but doesn't seem worth it. I equipped it once in party, used it, was disappointed, and I haven't used it since.
