hmmm....ever wondered?

Any one ever wonder what effects seigan + third eye effectiveness? Like I wonder if a mobs accuracy, level and attack delay plays a part in determining how many of its attacks you will anticipate? It makes common sense right? if something attacks slow you can see it coming, if somethings weaker than you, you overwhelm it, and if it has low accuracy it misses a lot anyway? Ive noticed that when I fight things at or below DC, i usually pull off 4-6 anticipates on average, and when im fighting T's and up it drops down to 2-3 and rarely 4, 5 & 6 . You see what im saying? Idk fissure just a thought. I think its a cool theory tho. Makes sam seem more dynamic and cool in "more realistic sword fighting sense" in my opinion. reminds me of samurai champloo lol.

Omniexist, 68 Samurai, titan.
hasso?

only thing seigan does for hasso is cancel it if you have hasso active. Can only use one at a time.
hasso?
# Mar 06 2008 at 5:07 AM Rating: Decent
Description: Grants a bonus to Third Eye when using two-handed weapons.

In other words, grants another dodged attack when using Third Eye+Seigan. This ability overrides Hasso

not only does it allow for extra anticipations, but also allows you to counter attacks sometimes as well.

I have used Utsusemi with Seigen and Third Eye active while soloing DC at level 60 and the slower recast time is not that bad for utsusemi:Ichi and extremely effective. cant wait for 75 when I get Utsusemi: Ni. I think SAM has become the ultimate soloing melee job. Has any level 75 SAMs tried this as SAM/NIN? please lemme know what u think of it.

Just a note, since it is not labeled here. Directly from the update page at: http://www.playonline.com/pcd/update/ff11us/20061017UJ0a71/detail.html

-A penalty will be imposed on magic, song, and ninjutsu recast time while Hasso or Seigan is in effect.

Thought all should be aware of this.
Meriting 3rd Eye
# Nov 18 2006 at 5:04 PM Rating: Decent
Does anyone know what happens to your Third Eye recast when Seigan is up if you merit it? So in other words, if I sink 5 merits into Third Eye Recast for a total reduction of 10 seconds, does this make my Third Eye recast 20 seconds when Seigan is active?

I'm just wondering. If anyone has an answer I would greatly appreciate your input.

Sam is the new tank now
# Nov 08 2006 at 10:11 PM Rating: Decent
Since no one else is posting it, i will. Sam is finally the tank they were made to be. this is a free spell with 15 second cool down with the new ability. it has the chance of covering up to 4 attacks, as well as countering. Ninja will not hold a candel to this, especially with /sub war. now the AF glvoes and armor arent useless either. People will be to stupid to notice this right away, but it will sink in that Sam is better at tanking, especailly with there high parry rate. Gasp sam a tank? yep thats what they were made for, a true DD tank.

While it's true that it can anticipate up to 4 attacks, does not mean it will. SAM is not a tank and it will never be a tank...even 2 years later.
3rd Eye

When Seigan is active, there are several bonuses to Third Eye.

1) The recast timer is reduced from 1m to 30s. If 3rd eye was used BEFORE Seigan though, you still have to wait out whatever was left on the timer.

2) When Third Eye activates while Seigan is up, there is a chance that you will counter the attack instead of just antisipating it.

3) When Third Eye activates, wither by antissipating an attack, or countering, there is a chance that the Third Eye effect will not dissapear - so giving you more than the 1 avoided hit it usually does.

The upshot of all this is to make SAM quite a lot harder to kill while soloing or if things go badly in a pt. Since the timer for 3rd eye is reduced to 30s you can keep it active almost all the time and the activation rates for the bonus effects seems quite high. While soloing to test it out, I would commonly antissipate 2-3 attacks in a row and counter occasionally.

It's not 100% by any means, Third Eye will still only take 1 hit sometimes, leaving you vunerable again, but its a huge improvement over the old mechanic in terms of SAM awesomness!

The only thing to watch out for is to make sure you use Seigan BEFORE 3rd eye, otherwise you have to wait a full 60s before you can recast 3rd eye, and it will wear out after 30s.

This Job Ability Is AWSOME. Period.

This is very good for solo. Normal third eye dodges one attack and is a 1:00 recast. With Seigan, Third Eye dodged up to 4 attacks, and countered. Also, this makes recast to third eye 30seconds instead of one minute. Very awsome. :D
