Damn, dirty lies.

Just last night, I had to help out some friends of mine in my linkshell. Now bear in mind, I had completed all 3 Promyvions before last night, so I had access to Lufaise Meadows and the Tavnazian Archipelago.

I clicked on the Shattered Telepoint at the Crag of Mea, and what happens? I'm sent into the Hall of Transference.

Conclusion? I am still able to enter the Promyvion zones.

Misinformation make me angry. Smiley: mad

We've completed them all now. Mea was the toughest as we didn't have the most optimal setup.

My tips.
Best party to use is:

War/Nin
Rng/Nin
Smn/Whm
Whm/Blm
Blm/Whm (or another Smn/Whm)
Rng/Nin

With this party setup, you can keep yourself healed, have a good tank to keep hate, and the Rangers can bounce hate back and forth if the tank needs to get Utsusemi back up. The Smn's use their Astral Flow when about 3/4 the NM's HP is gone, and after they do theirs, Rng's do their Eagle Eye Shot. As long as no one panics and you have the proper supplies (Hi potions, Poison Potions for Holla, ect), you'll be dancing on the NM's corpse.

**edit**
I feel like a jerk not including this. Don't rely on me for the 'best party'. This worked amazingly well for the groups I went with. There's more than likely much better combo's. This is just my opinion

When the MR is engaged, it uses Empty Seed - this is an AOE attack with knockback effects. The Empty Seed attack apparently has fantastic range -- if you can hit the MR with spells or ranged attacks, you're definitely inside *it's* range.

This is NOT true. I did this as a BLM and NEVER got hit by the AoE. You just have to be very careful about how close you get. I inched closer and kept trying to cast until my spell started to go off. Basically, maximum range for your spells is a little bit farther than the AoE.

Have to agree there, as BLM I was lucky to not get hit with the AoE, yet pple standing right in front of me did get hit.

Just wanted to drop a post in here.

Just finished Promyvion-DEM today. It was great! Our alliance was awesome, but unfortunately when we got to the top we only had 2 parties left.

The first guys lost but we wreked the NM. We had no animas, just smart playing. Good use of 2 hrs and a good party make up.

we had: BRD/WM, NIN/THF, WAR/NIN,BM/WM,WM/BM, SMN/BM

we honestly destoyed it bigtime. For the BRDs out there like me, don't sweat Promyvion, you are very useful out there. Horde Lullaby again will do you alot of good!

Anyways, the final thing i want to add here, is that the experience was one of the most fun things I have ever participated in in this game.

The people that slam the validity of this expansion are totally wrong. The expansion puts the gameplay and excitement back into the game.

it is great because all of your friends no matter what lvl they are all come together to do this. That is what makes it so fun!

Anyways, that is the first I can't wait for the next 2. Great job to square on breaking the same old grind with something really different and fun!

PS-The mob models are awesome! There are so many you don't see on the preview pages. They are so creepy and weird! Anyways I am sure that when everyone gets to do the emptyness, they will love it!

Well that was fun... spent a long time on Holla today and tonight without success.

Got to the top after many deaths in this particular alliance. Like others it started out 18 people, ended up with 12 at the top. Once inside the Spire... haha... it was a fricking death party. Tons of people in there trying the BCNM multiple times without success hahaha.... I saw one group try it 4 times, and a few others more than once.... My own party tried once, died when it was so close to death but Shiva was slept so her 2hr didn't do zip. 2nd time, we had an additional BLM instead of a RNG and didn't do quite as well even though I got my SMN 2hr off twice. BTW Shiva did half damage whereas Ramuh did nearly full damage 2hr. I wouldn't recommend using Shiva ever again on Holla boss.

Anyway... I'm logged out in the Spire right now... hopefully as passing alliance has a spot for me tomorrow :o

Might as well Give Dem-NM Information too ^^

Fusion: Spawns a "Offspring"
Spirit Absorbtion: 200 HP Drain Attack

By Kiting you can avoid use of "Fusion"

Offspring have the Special "Promyvion Barrier" Which is Defense Boost. No Bard Sleeps (From a properly equipped bard) Landed on the Offspring.

Now I haven't read all the replies to this post yet, but one thing I've noticed that has made a HUGE difference in the outcome of fighting the different BCNM bosses is that depending on what element day you fight it will determine it's strength/weakness.

For example, we had an LS alliance go all the way to the Spire of Holla (with nightmare after nightmare on the way there), fully prepared with at least one Anima potion per person and plenty of drinks and meds to pwn anything the boss could through at us. Anyhow we got there, rested up and went straight into the fight with our respective parties ready to pwn the boss. Me going as SMN, I needed to know what elemental type the boss was in order to utilize the appropriate avatar to flaunt the bosses weakness. Now I can't recall the elemental types for the DEM and MEA bosses, but the Holla boss is a Wind Based mob (this is proven because I have fought that particualr boss four times and four out of four times it has had Sea Green eyes). Anyhow, after a valiant effort by my party and everyone elses that went with us, we all waited patiently in manpile outside for raises. Then while lying there dumbfounded as to why SE would make such an impossibly tough boss for us to fight, one of us noticed that it was Windsday and put 2 and 2 together. >< So once everyone had been raised and rested, we waited until Iceday (Wind elements weak day) and proceeded to attempt the boss again with no 2 hours left, minimal meds and drinks, and no Anima potions and proceeded to beat the livin crap of him! ^^

So hope this information helps and goodluck to everyone, I hear Lufaise Meadows is beautiful! ^^

Totally aggreed. Prob the best thing for the Dem fight atleast is a SMN.

First time I went we had a real ghetto party, war/nin-war/thf-pld/war-whm/blm-blm/whm-smn/whm. Looked bad but I was bored and last person to be invited to party so not much I could do about it. Figured it was only level 30 exp death so the event experience alone would make it worth while.

1st thing is the Mega Boss used specials REAL FAST. Looking back at log, in full screen mode, each screen section has atleast one special and allot had two. One time he used the hp drain, and before the message came back about how many hps he drained he did the same hp drain effect again.

Also HE WILL DO the evasion boost at ANY TIME unlike metioned above. He did it very first thing.

We got him to 50%, the he went back to 60% with some adds (I assume he Fusioned then drained some hps) so the smn let loose with the 2 hour. First one got resisted to 200+ damage, next one 429 damage, then another 429 damage one. The last one hit left the mega boss with not even enough hps to show color on the hp bar and I thought we had it for sure. 2 Secs later he had 7% hps, 5 secs later he had 14%, about 10-15 secs after that he had 21%

/cry

What was said above about hitting hard at the end is totally true. If two hours are gone and he is alive you prob gonna loose.

Conclusion from that is you do not need the "perfect" DD party but you prob want a smn+1 job with high damage 2 hour (mnk, smn, rng - did not ask war how much damage war 2hour+Sturmwind did but if over 300 it can work too) or 3 jobs with high damage 2 hour.

So took my newfound knowledge of the battle and went back with a plan.

We did it last night with war/nin, war/nin, whm/blm, smn/whm, rng/nin, blm/whm.

We killed it slowly conserving mp (lite nukes and no avatar melee) until it spawned first adds. Once it did that smn went for 2 hour. Plan was to smn 2 hour effect 3 times then same time as 3rd Titdal Wave(picked this one cause it was waterday) everyone let loose with everything they got. This time the hp regen was not as fast and the mob was at about 6% after 2nd Tidal Wave (smn used avatar strong to the day not sure how much it helped did not get chance to look back at battle text), at that point everyong let loose with 2 hours and heavy nukes. Died like a little punk!

Overall the first party showed me you can get away with not having a great party setup but if you have the peeps then it will go down hard even without anima.

We did Holla too with a great party (same makeup as Dem but we had war/nin and pld/war instead of 2 war/nin) but had 2 animas and the battle was a joke quite honestly. We also had posion potions (of course) and Holy Water. Smn can not use 2 hour in Holla as much (unless you freeze mob with anima which we did) cause a AE sleep will waste it. Holla was the 1st one I ever did and never looked at battle text so do not have more details sorry.

Looking forward to doing Mea with my new anima I got (obtained Recollection of Pain from one of the larger mobs on 3rd floor of Dem).

Psychoanima Makes th NM Intimidated by it's target's presence for about 20 seconds. That's 20 seconds free time to do whatever you need to do. Breather for recasting Utsusemi, MP regain, whatever.

Defeated Promyvion - Holla

2 Party Alliance, only one PT won BC, other party tried twice and got NM to 15% HP or less both times before wiping.

Our Party was WAR/NIN WAR/NIN RNG/NIN RNG/NIN WHM/BLM BLM/WHM

NM got *spanked* only time we broke a sweat was the curse/sleep AoE that he spammed 3 times before anyone could use Poison Potions. You might also consider using Au Lait's or Selbina Milk for a regen effect instead of Poison Potions.

WAR/NIN's traded agro with voke very well until my fellow Ranger and I decided to let loose with Barrage's, I alteranted between Zamburak+1 and Acid Bolts and a Pirate's Gun and Bullets. Other RNG had Battle Bow+1 and Iron Arrows. I don't reccomend guns for Promy, too slow and the damage isn't all that much better at that level than the good bows can put out. Crossbows worked great with the various status bolts and Holy Bolts. The gun grabbed me agro a few times at the end of the BCMN fight before both the other RNG and I used Eagle Eye Shot to finish it off.

The Climb up took us about 3 hours, all I can really say about it is take it slow, and be cool. have somebody scout ahead a little make sure NOBODY RUNS AHEAD and you'll be fine. Keep your parties together and communicate. Try to stick with one designated puller and one tank if you need to on the higher levels.

I don't reccomend bringing bards for Promy, they're great on the way up, but not so hot in the BCNM. A lot of people with blink / Utsu will hugely affect the damage your WHM has to heal. Bring some of your own healing items and it'll be rosy. If you can break out a Lv 2 Skillchain or two on the NM it'll help your BLM a lot.

I'd like to add one thing about Ganthrinor's post if no one figured it out yet, if you use the Psychoanima, it will still move, this got my PT screwed over in Holla since no one would stand still so the SMN's 2 Hour would kill it

On another note, they can still do AoE's I believe, I had someone use thier Psychoanima during the BC Holla fight, did the AoE sleep/curse/blind combo then continued to be intimidated (I'm pretty sure no one used an anima after he did that AoE)

Holla NM

Trinary Tap, not Trinary Absorbtion is the 3 Buffs stealing Ability. Noticed when I was doing Holla NM for the 3rd time ; ;

Rate ups for Kirana (so much karma to you) and Ganthrinor; good work on bringing in more info. We've got Promyvion basically tied up. I submitted this info to GameFAQs (with appropriate credit to y'all) and will update it there also - the idea is to get as many people through Promyvion successfully as possible.

I want this quest to be as routine and as simple as the Khazam Key quest. ^^

Hysteroanima has a subtle effect, that needs all filters off to notice. The opposite of Psychoanima, it will stop all special attacks.

I had all filters off, and looking closely I saw that the boss would ready abilities, but would never perform them. This means that Hystero + Psychoanima completely nullifies the mob's attacks for 20-30 seconds.

Better cancel the vet visit, cause this beasie's already been neutered.
#121 Oct 10 2004 at 3:11 AM Rating: Decent
The Memory Recepticals can be hit my multiple parties, not just your alliance. If there are 3 full alliances there then all of them can attack the MR. However always make sure to kill those extra strays...

my linkshell attempted Promyvion - Holla for the 2nd time last night and this time my party won! we had a 2 party alliance to get through. we've found that more than that can be a headache with constant aggro.

Getting to the Spire
i can not stress this enough. do NOT leave anyone behind!

Clear paths for travel. the Empty don't last very long against a beating from an alliance. if you are making a dash to the next safe spot and get aggro keep running with it to the safe area you're shooting for. my alliance made the mistake of stopping to fight the first time we attempted promyvion-holla and we ended up with 7 dead after constant aggro.

Fighting the MRs is a lot less difficult than it's made out to be. have blm, rng/nin, thf/nin and/or nin/x pummel the MR at such a range where they are JUST able to hit it. This way the MR can not blast you with empty seed. the times it does hit: make sure utsusemi is up and you will have no problems. while they pummel the MR have your warriors, drks, sams, etc. slaying the strays. when the MR is about 10% left in life have your blm rest to get MP for sleeps.

blm, rdm, brd should be the last ones through the teleport. they can sleep every stray in range and this leads to much less frustration having to go back.

MRs do not have any particular elemental property.

When you get to the final floor do not think it's a good idea to just make a break for the spire. our alliance made the mistake of doing that last night and we ended up with 6 people making it. we went back and had a tractor > raise party. these are the kinds of things that make it fun in my opinion :)

The Promyvion-Holla BCNM
our party setup was this

SMN/WHM (me)
WHM/SMN
BLM/WHM
NIN/WAR
RNG/NIN
DRK/WAR

Items i brought:
2 x Yagudo Drink
2 x Holy Water
1 x Hi Ether
1 x Scroll of Instant Reraise
All 3 of the Rare/EX Anima

i suggest everyone bring holy water, reraise scroll, poison potion (i didn't bring them because of my need to rest MP during astral flow), and AT LEAST one anima. The Holla BCNM is virtually impossible to clear without everyone having it.

we set an order for using our anima and then we buffed when we entered the BC and we had the nin tank cancel all buffs. i cast Aerial Armor for the drk and the mages. The NIN only had utsusemi and reraise up and he then provoked and kited for the duration of the fight. i popped a yagudo drink and hit Astral Flow with Leviathan (it was watersday and we found that the BCNM doesn't have any elemental property). I time astral flow well enough that i got 3 of the Mega Attacks in during Astral Flow and i'd say i took out about half of the BCNM's life.

When he gets down to about 10% he starts spamming AOE curse/blind/sleep so make sure your mages stay clear. Curaga is priceless here (so is benediction if it's up) when you're awake pop a poison potion and holy water to keep yourself going and this is when RNG can finish it off with a good barrage or Eagle Eye Shot.

since i didn't see it in the first post the effect of Terroanima is it makes the BCNM disengage from attacking for ~30 seconds and run around kiting itself, essentially. you can stop it with an Elemental Seal + Bind from the BLM and it still won't attack you even while bound and the anima is still active.

Just finished Dem... we did it with 6 party members. Setup was:
BLM/WHM
SMN/WHM (me)
WHM/BLM
SAM/WAR
MNK/WAR
RNG/NIN

I had 2 Hi-ethers, 3 Yagudo drinks, Instant Reraise, and 11 (got a stack) Echo Drops.

I'm still not quite sure how we did it... We did the normal strategy on the three (one was a dud) MRs, i.e. SMN sends in avatar, RNG shoots BLM nukes MR/Strays, SAM and MNK take care of Strays, WHM does what WHMs do. Minimum of fuss. On the third floor things got interesting.

How would one party kill all 7 Strays surrounding the 3rd floor MR in time to get to the portal? We accidentally pulled 4 Strays at once and the RNG and SAM died. We forumlated the following strategy once we recovered:

I would send in Ifrit, and the SAM and RNG would shoot it. We would only take Strays that aggroed me when I went in to make Ifrit attack. This worked extremely well, and we got it down to a sliver of life. We waited til most of the Strays were on the other side of the MR, I summoned Ramuh, sent him to Thunderspark AoE, the MNK and SAM killed one on our side, all sprinted, and got through.

The fourth floor was just a matter of sprinting as quickly and quietly as possible to the Spire. Our BCNM strategy was this:

Enter, buff, food, rest to full.
SAM and MNK enter and trade off vokes.
SMN summons Ramuh (Dem boss weak to thunder? I think so), two hour, yag drink, send in, Judgment Bolt three times (mini-battle strategy, basically).
RNG and BLM go to town.
WHM does his thing.

First Judgment Bolt did 429 dmg, then the SAM used her Hysteroanima, which might have lowered the Progenerator's elemental resist, because the next Judgment Bolt did 471. Another Judgment Bolt, another 429, and it was near 30% health. Meiko Shishui (sp?), Hundred Fists, Manafont, and Eagle Eye Shot, and it was dead. Between the RNG and I we did 1959 dmg.

Notes: Bring at least one anima. The time it buys is invaluable.
The MNK had Persikos au Lait, which helped.
The SAM had Hi-potions, and used two, because she was tanking for most of it (><)

So thats how one party by themselves did it... some facts may be wrong, like number of Strays, because I did it about an hour ago and I don't remember some things. I probably left a few things out too. One down, two to go...

Promyvion Dem ~ Diabolos Server ~ Full Taru Panic Linkshell

We started this with a full alliance (18 people)

Healers: 1 WHM - 1 RDM - 1 SMN - occasionally, the BLM would help out with the healing..

Tanks: WAR/NIN or NIN/WAR is the way to go.. Blink tank is really the only way here.. except we did see that a PLD would be usefull on the Boss

Damage Dealers: We mostly used RNG,BLM,THF, and DRK they seemed to work pretty good.

First Floor: Very Easy.. all enemies Easy Prey
Second Floor: Enemeies got tougher, Decent Challange to Tough.. none with status pluses. Took a long time for us to find the right recepticle
Third Floor: This is where it got hard.. VT and IT enemies had us healing many times.. we only had 2 people die on this floor, and our WHM took care of that quickly.. Didnt have much trouble finding the Recpticle here, i think the 2nd time we got it.
Fourth Floor: Ok.. this is where half our alliance left.. it was getting too late i guess.. We were left with 2 parties left.. 1 made up of FTP members and the other made up of another LS doing it with us. Our Party ended up being WHM / RDM / NIN / THF / SMN / RNG.. we died a few times on this level.. it took us a good hour to get to the tower.

Memory Recpticle MethodWhen fighting the Memory Recpticles, we would set up our Nukers right ouside of the AOE range of Empty Seed.. It seemed to work pretty good, Nuking myself, i only got hit with Empty Seed once on all the Recpticle's we fought. The Tanks and damage dealers would then pull some of the Strays to build up TP.. Once the TP was 100, they ran up and used their Weapon Skills, then the mages started nuking. (it seems like the orb changes elemental properties, a spells damaage would fluxuate alot).. Our SMN would cast a summon and tank it with that the whole time, it seemed to work very well... we'd then clean up "stray" strays.. XD and then go through the stream.. we did not lose anyone durring this, it worked very well..

Boss Fight
Finally got to the tower after 4 or 5 hours (be prepared to set aside alot of time for this..) We got in there, buffed up and we started fighting.. the NIN provoked it and made sure he got all the hate (and he did a very good job with it ^_^ Good Job Duc!) The RDM (me) debuffed it with SLOW, PARALYZE, DIA, and BLIND... this is VERY important... the first half went fine.. very little MP usage, the blink tank method was working very well... Once it started spawning stuff, it got a bit harder, my MP fell to 0 at one point.. but we managed to make it all out alive. Oh! and the SMN cast leviathan (The Boss is Weak to Water) and used astral flow when it had like 20% of its health left. It worked out very well.. he kept up with Yagoudo drinks, so Leviathin never went away :D It ended up very good!

The other party didnt do so well ; ;

In anycase! We beat Promyvion Dem! Yays! Were on to do Mea and Holla in the next couple of weeks.. Its all really fun and definatlly worth the $30 for Chains of Promathia.. its a great LS event :D

2 of 3 so far.

I can confirm that once youve completed all 3, your warped directly to medows. Ive been told that to return there you would use the whirlpools off selbina and qufim.

It takes TWO parties to reach the top.
Maybe not even two if your uber enough.

Both times I won, the battle strategy was simple:

1. everyone buffs, group waits till all mp and hp is full.
2. tank runs through the circles center, volks mobs, drags it to the back.
3. rangers take up stations on each side of the bcnm, it trade aggro back and forth. (ninjas cant hold aggro for long, so my job was just to kite the thing back to centeR)
4. Mages stay on the ramp and try to stay out of aoe range.
5. pop animas when you start to get in trouble. Trouble often comes at 50% to 20% of the bosses hp.

Holla used aoe curse and silence, along with an aoe drain attack (this was prevented on our run by a few terror anima).

Mea uses a room sized aoe attack like the recepticals, plus a throat stab attack that brings its targets down to 10hp.

Dem (from what Ive seen: we didnt succeed the last time I faced it) will spawn several babies

All 3 hit slow and weak, and are relatively simple to take out if you have a decent group.
