Wonderful guide! Absolutely awesome. It's such a good idea... and out of all the stupid things I could pick to suggest... Smiley: disappointed

I love awesome organization and formatting. Something about being pleasing to the eye that is very satisfying (yea, stupid). You may not consider it a good idea, but I suggested a format you might want. Very easy on the eyes. I went through and just formatted the first section so you can see how it looks. Feel free to do what you wish, it's your guide. It's literally the only thing I could pick out about it that I would change... you did a great job.

I think the Header being in big letters is great, with the underline. I think it would look good with just the subsections standing out with bulletpoint. No need to seperate some from others, everything can virtually be it's own subsection. See what you think:

Other than that, I wouldn't use yellow, but it's a personal preference. Smiley: laugh Good job, guy.

Thanks for the suggestion Amano. I too love Format and Organization, and in all my presentations, I strive to find a simple, organized way to present a subject.

I've used no bullets, because I do not feel they are easy on the eyes in this case. The tend to clutter and add more information than the eyes can handle. If I were to use bullets, then the colors and underlines and bolding would have to go.

Also, the topics have been bolded with a careful consideration for the usage of the topic. Those topics I believed would be most used are slightly bolded, in order to differentiate between the others.

The colors... I wholeheartedly agree with you. Yellow and Gold are not my favorites either. I felt they go better with the dark and light blues. Whites and grays stand out too much. Teals and Blues would blend in too much. Greens and reds... well, neither of those are very appealing. Green for obvious reasons. Red is too combative.

If you notice, I do still have some work to do on the organization of it. It's not quite as formed as I would want it. The topics in the beginning are hard to characterize, and any suggestion to the order of them would be appreciative. As opposed to "Funadamentals" But, as for the rest of it, I very deliberately listed topics in the order that they appear. For instance, increasing Fame and making money, is my bridge between the two topics.

It still needs more work, and I appreciate the sentiment, but I'll have to disagree with the way you've reformed the post. I like the simple format for now.

As and aside, on a different topic altogether. I've recognized the rate downs, and I agree, I don't believe I've been here long enough to merit a "sage". So, please, continue with the good work.

Sticky Sticky Sticky!!!! PLEASEEEEE

On a side note... Thanks for including the tips thread created based on saboruto's... I knew it wasn't good enough to make it a sticky, but I knew it will fit perfectly in a guide like this.

Rate up!

Unfortunately the big A has a long standing policy that there be no stickies in the main board(s).

The next best thing would to be to tak it along to the sticky in the tradeskill.

I also emailed Alla requesting a sticky, but for a reason other than the awesomeness of this guide.

We all know this forum gets cluttered. People often post question after question on topics that have been covered countless times. I, myself, reply to every single Garrison thread I see just in case that person may find my guide to be helpful.

The important pages do not stay on the first page very long and then they might as well be considered lost. Noone is going to search through the whole forum looking for one post.

This thread would change all that (somewhat). People would have a single place to search for information rather than having to look through all of the forums and then several pages back. People might stop asking questions that have been answered time and time again.

This thread deserves a sticky. I understand the concept of why they want to limit the number of stickies. If you ever visit the main forum at ffxionline.com, you'll understand how frustrating too many stickies can be. That idea, however, should not be used as the only reason to see such a great thread get lost amongst a flood of "OMGZ! TEH GILZ ZELLERZ!!!"

I humbly ask that the powers-that-be on the Allakhazam forums at least reconsider the idea. Perhaps, it could be considered in future if a spot were to open. I assume Pikko's "What's new" sticky may not be permanent (given only it's nature as relating to CoP. It's a very cool thread and deserves stickying) and this might make a good replacement for it.

If, however, the powers decide against a sticky, that is cool. I have this thread bookmarked for future reference and I know it will always be there to help me, if not everyone.

Thanks Taodyn! To be honest; I don't think there is a better place for this post than the main forum. Although, I really don't care if my name isn't beside it. Alla can take all the good stuff and make it his own post. In fact, it might be better that way. I'd like a chance to finish my work though^^. I added quite a number of posts today. Including a few interesting topics by GrumpyWookie, Kingjord and a few others. I highly recommend reading them! Especially the one about baqst.

Excellent post! I commend you on the time and effort you put into this.

Unfortunately, this will not be stickied. I made a post a few months ago to this effect, and we basically got the same answer as the people before me who had made similiar posts. "There will be no stickies added to the main forum by non-admins." So, to keep this post alive, just bump it up every once in awhile, because I highly doubt they will sticky it. Not because it's not informative - it's one of the best posts that has graced these boards in some time, but because the admins just won't sticky it for whatever reasons. And I respect that - it's their boards, their rules. (Besides, you really don't want to be on Haggan's and Kaolin's bad side, or any other admin for that matter.)

There is another way to keep this post alive, and this I highly recommend. Add a link to it in your signature. Here is the code needed, for those that haven't quite figured these things out yet. Smiley: wink

[ link=http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=10&mid=1098047379424678707&num=37][ Red]Faq: Guides, Links, and Posts.[ /Red][ /link]

Just delete the space inbetween the "[" and the word. I had to put that space there so you all could see it. If I didn't, the forum would have automatically converted it to the proper link.

Anyways, sorry to be the bearer of bad news when it comes to the crys for a sticky. Good job AmbroseOdin, and may this post grace the first page for many weeks to come, and may it's link live on forever in the signatures of others.

Edit: Looking at the list, you have a few posts listed under certain topics that don't beling there. Saruboroto's "SE and blatant Racism" has nothing to do with Japanese at all, but rather is a rather clever joke at the expense of elvaan. It was made to keep us entertained and to share a joke, not to inform new people of how to play their job. You might want to go back and re-check all your links to make sure that they are, indeed, on topic and above all useful.

Which is why I suggest one of the admins steal it. I don't really care. Its the information that counts, not the name next to it.

Truuuuueeeeee. Honestly, I don't care about that either, I get on my commander's bad side all the time. You'll never get in trouble for providing honest, critical information.

I did. Unfortunately, some other people did too ^^;

Very nice catch!! I've been waiting for some honest comments. But that's actually there for a reason. Sabo's post actually is a satire on the Japanese-English relationship, which I think is very relevant on people interested in improving their Japanese-English interaction. It's a serious post that people interested in making that cultural jump should read. Another post like this, is the war discussion on "buttersheep" also probably "should" be in the "fun" since no hardcore analysis is occuring. But, once again, I thought the prospective war/whm's should read this with a serious understanding.

I just want to say that in my above post, I was not speaking ill of any of the admins here. Those guys do a very difficult job and they do it with out losing their temper (something few of us can claim).

If any of my comments were taken to be against the admin, I apologize and retract said comments. I was also not trying to argue their decision, but simply plead for them to reconsider.

To close, Gil Seller = bad, Admin = good.
