Really nice format and good info, but you do realize you're about 4 hours too late, right?

Not trying to be jerk, so don't take it that way, just saying this was posted quite a while ago.

*Edit* LOL, thanks for the rate downs for pointing something out....idiots. :)

Not doubting you but do you have a source for this? From the picture that SE gave us it looks like 74-75 is the same before and after update. The big post about this also seems to think that it is the same from 74-75. Where did you get this info?

Unfortunately you are reaping the catch 22 of CHOICE

Every time you choose to do something you 'lose' something else

Even if they hadn't changed the tnl's everytime you go for merit points your 'wasting' xp that could be put toward any other job, or 'losing' gil you could be farming, or 'losing out' on missions/quests you could be doing

Every time you xp a job not for merits you 'waste' xp that could be going towards merits, you 'lose' gil you could be farming, 'losing out' on missions/quest

Every time you farm you are 'wasting' xp that could be going towards merits or leveling, you 'lose out' on missions/quests

Every time you quest/mission................................

Suck it up - as long as humans have some semblance of free will there will be choices.

Thanks for chart, saw it on a diff post but i had to pull up the calculator app to see what diffs were for myself ;) This one is a bit more "on the head"

Nice to know when (if ever) I log in i'll be 1 tnl to 64... Bad part is that I "lost" 50k or so xp... /sigh I pretty much spent 10's of hours in Labyrinth of Onozo tanking the most frustrating mobs ever for nothing... Oh well, not much to do but suck it up and move on ;)

As I'm a bit of a skeptic anyway, I have to ask...

on what are you basing these charts? All I see is a chart, that anyone could have typed up.

I got my numbers in-game when the servers came up. Two I know first-hand (52-53, and 57-58). The others I got in /tell from shouts in Jeuno, LS members, and friends.

Edit: If anyone has different number, please post them and I'll make any necessary changes.

WTF SE are you ******* THINKING YOU ARE TAKING AWAY THE HARD WORK OF YOUR PLAYERS!!!

For the first time i'm honestly contepmplating if FFXI is worth my time.... everyones gonna be level 75 now, everythings going to be easier since leveling is now 100+k less.,..

is SE completely retarted?

Yeah, I mean jeez! Everyone knows FFXI is about how many electronic corpses you have under your belt! It's not like its supposed to be fun or anything! God, what kind of retards want to kill 120 thousand xp less electronic animitons? THATS FUN!

Haha it was pretty close to what I've speculated cool.

rant
All I see on the main forums is rant rant rant about how much time they lost getting to 75. Well lets put it into logical sense shall we to see what all these people are complaining about

So lets speculate, the average amount of xp/hour a party can generate is approx at 4000/hour

so 124000/4000 is about 31 hours of xp time. ok so a day and a little bit of xp u could have possibly have wasted, but lets put it into the big picture.

Total xp under old system starting from 51:
725000
=181 hours

31/181=.172

So to get this strait ur complaining on losing only 17% of the time taken to get to 75 starting from 51? I certainly won't be able to sleep losing 17% of my ffxi xp time >,>.

/rant

According to this chart, I only miss out on a total of 20k of the total grind to 75 that those who came before me did, on my primary job at least.

First off, there are better reasons to be quitting FFXI (how bout the messed up economy for the lower players who can't afford the equipment to get them to 50?). Second, why are you pissed that you have an endgame character and people like myself who have spent a lot more time crafting and helping people and less leveling (not saying that you haven't) can have an easier time getting to 75. Sure, you've "wasted" all that time leveling, but I've wasted it doing something else. Don't be mad at SE for wanting to keep its casual customers as well as its hardcore gamers. Just read that dude's sig and settle down already.

OK, here's a little food for thought for all the people in the 'stop whining' camp....

At your place of employment you are eligible for a full pension at 25 years of employment. You are 80% of the way there (20 years of hard work) and are looking forward to enjoying your retirement. Upper management decides that 25 years is too long, though, and that now you only need to work 20 years to be eligible for a full pension. Unfortuantely, since you were only 80% of the way to your pension you still have to work 4 more years for yours. All the new hires are happy since they get to retire early. You get to listen to them tell you all tay to stop whining: you only need to work 4 more years now instead of 5 to retire. "STFU old man, you just saved a year of work! It's easier now, quit whining!" Of course, the old man knows that if his company hadn't just boned him out of 5 years of work he would be able to retire that day.

Sound reasonable to you?

Under the 'Old' experience point system I had earned enough to be 6k in to 71. Going by the new experience requirements that amount of total exp gained would put me at 74+....yet I'm still level 71. I shaved a whopping 10k off what I need to reach 75...small consolation compared to the 114K extra that I spent getting to 71 that's now gone.

Would you tell that employee that had worked for 20 years that he was being a whiner about having to work 4 more years for his pension, even though he had already worked long enough to retire (if his company had a clue)? Then stop telling people to quit whining about the experience point change.

So to get this strait, ur trying to compare RL to a game? I find ur logic rather faulty. Also unlike a pension, xp is something u really can't well hold. In your case unreasonable action, however one has to realize this is a game so its nothing life changing or anything.
