Lol, awesome :D
Damn I am so jealous about couples that play together T_T
My gf she never liked video games, and she specially hate FFXI ("because you like this game more than me" o.o)

After 6 failures at Promy-Holla, my ls is trying with 12 animas and good planning for a 7th time. You know how many hours it takes to take people to get ready, farm the animas etc. So after 4+ hours "not paying attention to my gf" we get to the last floor of the Promy. And that was the time my gf really gets angry:

gf: Ok, I am sick of this either you are turning off this ******* game now or forget about me for the rest of the weekend. I am returning to my house.
me: hun I told you how much I want to finish this mission (this was my last promy left to get access to Lufaise)
gf: you heard me
me: @_@
me: I need 30 more minutes!
gf: "door shuts"

Ok this is the most hard point:
a) You continue the mission and pass the rest of your weekend ask for forgiveness
b) you **** the mission, your ls and you hit [Alt-Tab], run to the stairs, and make her come back [No, thanks]
Well I chose the first, btw we won :D (oh God I really need a break)

What you would do?

Nice and all, but.. can you answer me one question.

Whats a woman? is it a new NM?
#30 Jun 30 2005 at 2:24 AM Rating: Decent
i guess the only real solution to manage your wife/girlfriend and FFxi is to convince your wife/girlfriend to play the game too. I have failed on this, so i am forced to make time for both. But after some good fun-lovin, she'll pass out in the next hour and I'll be playing FFxi. YAY!!!

Could I get you to have a talk with my fiancee? ^^;

Well, mine understands the addictive qualities of FFXI, but it's all second-hand from listening to me rant about one thing or the other.

The funny side effect of this is that when I call her up and tell her about my week (living on different continents sucks), it goes something like this:

Me: So I was leveling my BLM through the dunes...
Her: Lemme guess, you got another idiot tank that didn't know how to make, much less use, a provoke macro?
Me: Exactly!
Her: What is it with these people!?

I use the get Wife drunk, and horny trick.

I get the best of both worlds.

After drinking all night, and 45 minutes of love, she out like a light!

Then its FF11 all night!

Here's the best idea of all.

Buy the game for her and play it with her.

I know it has been said before, but the OP is absolutely brilliant.

If for some reason none of those work, try a "red herring" tactic as i have many a times to keep my gf off my back while playing ffxi. Here's a little scenario and howi got out of it:
-----

As you are trekking through the Promyvians and avoiding almost near certain death, you can see your sweetie's shadow on your screen. "I want to go watch (insert chick-flick starring Hugh Grant here). Come watch it with me, turn that stupid game off."

You, being the ever so clever gamer, thought that this might arise beforehand, and prepared. As she grabs your shoulder to try and move you from your comfy-comfy chair, you whip out the first season of "Sex in the City" on dvd. "Here you go honey, i saw this at the store today and tought you'd like it." Consider this your 'Get out of Jail Free' card, as she is now distracted long enough for you to finish your quest. EEEEveryone is happy.

Only drawback is, she might grow to learn this behavior. My gf did, and has conquered all of "Sex in the City" and currently on Season 4 of "Friends" since i began taking on the CoP missions. Long hours of gaming are costing me more and more these days ><

My girlfriend shys away from video games; she (IMHO, unfairly) believes her reflexes are bad. Though she is getting into Shining Force a bit, and for someone with "bad reflexes", she sure does play DDR a lot ^^ And she likes to watch others play stuff.

But the thing is that she has other "hobbies" (I put this in quotes because for many people, us included, the thought of stopping our "extra" activities is like thinking about not eating). She loves to read (we share a lot of books, though I am closer to the hard sci-fi end and she to the fantasy end), she's pursuing a career in metals/goldsmithing, she likes costume making, etc.

My point is that she's not a dependent creature that requires someone else for every waking moment. So it's ok, and even good, for me to have time to myself too. The only problem is splitting my time between FFXI and the other things I like to do, but I do get a reasonable amount of it to poorly manage :p

Hehe! That's great, but as a woman, I'll warn you about this one:

2- "Compliment" negotiation

This one is really dangerous. Don't forget that wives are much more subtle then we can be and you're risking a big penalty if your wife sees the trap.

Roy : Darling..
Chick : Yes, my dear?
Roy : Your hair are beautiful that way.
Chick : Oh yeah, you really think it's making me more pretty?
Roy : ABSOLUTELY!!! You're almost like the ones we see in the magazines.
Chick : Oh you're so romantic. Ok, I allow you to sit in front of your computer instead of coming with me to see mom.

Advantage : Very easy on wives who worry about their physical appearance.
Disadvantage : You'll have to remain an ***-licker for the rest of your life.

If my boyfriend said this to me, just to tease him, I'd do the "Wait, I 'almost' look like those girls in magazines? What are you saying? You don't think I'm that pretty? You don't find me attractive?! You'd rather look at them than me?!!! Are you calling me fat???!!!"

Of course I would be kidding becuase I play FF too, but it's funny to see him fumble around looking for a way out of that one!

*BTW, that's an inside joke between me and my boyfriend that frequently occurs* ;)

Roy : I know but believe me, I'm willing to spend every hours it will take in front of my computer, until my task is over!
Chick : You're so brave! I'll pray for your success!
Roy : Amen

Advantage : Considering there are 500,000 people playing FFXI, your task is far from over.

Wow..That was the single funniest thing I have ever come across in months..LMAO

I am female and I love to play!!!!
Just show your wife/gf all the cute taru's and show her the wedding gear and tell her if she plays with you that you will let her go shopping on the AH and take her on boat rides and to the beach, the light house and the garden in SanD and buy her a pretty white dress and a flower for her hair. Tell her she will never have to clean your mog house and there is a cooking guild but no one washes dishes. Show her carby and ask a few taru friends to come be cute for her and buy her simple things to arrange in her mog house. Just make sure you have 2-pc's or 2-ps2's so you can both play together. Then teach her how to play and show her how to farm crystals from lowbie mobs and how to sell them on AH. If she is not the cute and cuddly type then show her the harness and sublingar and give her a sword and take her to slaughter Quads. If your already playing the game a lot chances are all she has seen is the back of your head for a long time. She might be interested to see who you talk to in LS and what you do in the game that keeps you so interested. Who knows she might even authorize you to buy a new pc or moniter or upgrade that video card or get a better tv so you can see things better or have less lag.
FYI- this game does not look good on a 53" wide screen hdtv, but it is worth a try, lol. I am in the process of upgrading my pc and getting a better moniter and I was debating a new tv because the PS2 could go in the bedroom with the cord extenders or the wireless controllers. Think of the possibilities, if you got sick she might be like. "Ohhhh you poor thing, you don't feel good. Well here let me bring you some soup and the ps2 controller and the remote and you can lay in bed and craft or farm. I would stay in here and snuggle with you but I have a pty waiting for me" She might even like the game so much that she forgets all the messes you made and says ohhh no it's ok you don't have to eat the tofu salad tonight, lets just order a pizza, they deliver wings and pepsi too, oh and those apple things you like too!

Good luck guys :D

Already, we're in a dead end. How to make the difference? Try this simple trick: ask to both your wife and your MMORPG to bring you a spaghetti with meat balls. Chances are that the one who'll bring you the spaghetti within the hour is your wife. The other one is certainly your MMORPG.

ROFL McFAO! omg, I hope no one heard me laughing...good thing it's friday.

English isn't his first language. His signature (loosely translated) says, "English is my second language so indulge my errors. If you only speak English and haven't understood..." (I'm not sure what "ca J m'en sacre" means) Anyways, that's why he has some minor grammar and spelling errors.

Hahahaha Garan Thanks, and so does my Hubby!

He is so lucky to have me lol.
I bring him food and drink refills when I walk by his recliner. The recliner was a new addition so he could be comfy in the living room. While the PS2 didn't look good on the 53" wide screen, the Xbox looks a lot better. So he needed a nice big comfy recliner and wireless keyboard and controller for the xbox and got the PS2 in the bedroom with wireless controller. Then his desk top in his office and a laptop so he could synth from the toilet if he wanted to. Of course wireless internet is a must too :) I also synth for him 24/7 and he gets to have his own personal whm whenever he needs one and I don't ever tell him to get off the computer because I am usually on here more then he is. The only downside is I like to ingore my housework and play too much. But I think he can deal with that in exchange for all the benefits of having his wife play.
