New NPC factsFollow

It seems like getting the Promyvion quest involves completing Past Reflections, calling your NPC two more times, and then waiting till midnight Japanese time. The time requirement would be what would make it seem like 2 or 3 times, depending on what you called your NPC and when you checked for quest.

I was able to get the 55 cap quest when my NPC was only somewhere around 50.5.

Luto would not take the Brass Knuckles. I finally got her to accept the Baghnakhs Lv. 24.

So for me it has been:
Cesti>Bronze Knuckles>Baghnakhs

I've called my NPC twice after the food quest and I can't get the promy quest. There has to be some other requirement that we're not seeing.
She's almost at 47 now and incidently I never got the 3rd weapon upgrade. I just traded Luto a Nodachi after the update and she took it. For me the sequence was Uchigatana->Uchigatana->Nodachi. I didn't want to downgrade to a Tachi for the second upgrade.

By the by, does anyone know of any other indepth NPC guides? My NPC is level 34 lol. Also, what is the point of the NPC?

Yup, just trade the beginner club to Luto.

FYI, the great axe listed for the third upgrade is *not* the Heavy Axe. It is the Hydro Axe. The Hydro Axe is a level 12 Great Axe, and it was somewhat difficult to obtain one of them on the Carbuncle server. The AH history for this axe dated back to last year, and I had to get someone in my LS to custom make one for me.

The correct upgrade chain for Great Axe is:
Butterfly Axe> Great Axe> Hydro Axe

Here's something everyone here seems to love- raw battle data! I parsed my recent excursion with my NPC in Yhoator Jungle near the east entrance of Ifrit's Cauldron. She now can and often will take hate from me just from meleeing. Sometimes to the point I need to throw a nuke or a big WS to get hate back and keep her from dying.

For reference:
*I have done the food quest from Luto.
*I have done the Promy mini-quest.
*I have (obviously) done NPC Genkai 1.
*I have given my NPC the 3rd upgrade to Polearm.
*The only enfeebles used during the battles were Dia II, Choke, Blind, and the occasional Slow.

I'm loving my NPC more and more. I also think Polearm is one of the best weapons you can give her. Why?

On a side note, you can now tell approximately how much tnl your NPC is. If you talk to your NPC on the battlefield he/she/galka can respond with some idle chit-chat. However I've noticed if you keep talking occasionally they'll tell you how close they are tnl.
*The following numbers are approximate.*
0%-20% into level: "I have recently risen in level. The next level is still quite some distance away."
20%-40% into level: "There is still much work to be done. I must gain more experience if I am to become stronger."
40%-60% into level: "I believe I have almost reached the halfway point to my next level. Let's not rest on our laurels, however!"
60%-80% into level: "Well well. It appears my next level is not far off at all."
80%-99% into level: "Any time now. My next level is very close indeed."

As a Blm it's getting a little dangerous to solo anywhere that might give my NPC the best exp at the best rate. My solution to this has been to team up with some friends from my LS and go beat up some tougher mobs like raptors in Uleguerand Range (con DC-EM). Just make sure you don't have any more than 3 PCs in a single party and you can all have your NPCs out at the same time.

Do the XP Bands affect NPC XP as well??

Anyone know the weapon upgrade chain for Axe (not Great Axe)? I don't see that one listed.
