Hmmm - I checked some JP sites and PROBABLY (but you have to check it) these new fighting styles give 2-3 more mobs to kill. Maybe that's the difference.

On the side note - I also thought that "Soothing healer" would give new spells that are available for WHM but are not used by NPC (like Erase, Banish I & II, Holy, Regen I & II, Curaga I & II & III).

BTW - my NPC is almost lv. 56. Does your NPC (>=57) use Shell III?

That would be inaccurate. I keep count of the mobs I kill, and my NPC only stayed for 20 mobs, as usual (level 48 NPC).

It did the same strategy as always: Protect/Shell for both of us, Cured me when I was low, and otherwise used Haste/Dia/Paralyze until it ran out of MP.

Mine's almost halfway to 55 and I unlocked soothing healer style. I'll see if there's any difference... but other than staying out for 70 minutes now I haven't noticed her doing anything differently than she usually does.

I'm hoping that Square actually makes this more worthwhile than a silly quest that just lets you change her from "healer" to "same healer, just a new name".

How many mobs did you kill on each floor Purplenv, if any?

Aprox. 6 mobs on the first floor.
First floor MR, and about 6-7 Strays. (not sure if these count)
20ish mobs on the second floor.

Our course was,

Pop NPC's at the RP.
Killed to get to the first ???
Click the first floor ???, but stay, do not pick leave. (not sure that this is required)
Killed MR
Killed to get to second ???
Clicked the second floor ???, but stay, do not pick to leave.
Killed mobs to reach cap.
Recleared the ??? area on the second floor.
Clicked the second floor ???, this time sellecting to leave, and completing the quest, and warping back to the start.

2000 xp for my NPC !!

We got to clicking the ??? on the second floor within 15 minutes, so if I knew where the ??? was on the 3rd floor I may have tried it.

After spending some time with my NPC on Soothing Healer mode I've noticed that she's quicker to heal me when I'm taking damage than when she's on Healer mode.

I think it simply makes them more efficient at their job.

Limits:
lv30-40 - 15 mobs/30 minutes
lv40-58 - 20 mobs/50 minutes
lv58-60 - 25 mobs/75 minutes

Please confirm it guys (especially - from which level/quest you can get 20 mobs).

Mine's level 35 and stays out for 20 fights, and in fact I think he has for a while. I got second weapon upgrade at about level 32, and have finished the promyvion quest, and the food quest.

I used my NPC buddy to duo my RDM from 18-22 or so, so I've called him a lot. I think a lot of these things are more based on calls than NPC level.

Right after "60%-80% into level: "Well well. It appears my next level is not far off at all.""

I have gotten "Well. My next level is just around the corner"

Yeah, the comments vary depending on race (and probably gender, too). Hume male says "My experience is still shallow" after I level, and then mentions how he's "almost halfway to the next level."

Can't remember the others at the moment.

Mine (Hume female, shoulder length hair) says:

0%-20% into level: "I've just gained a level. The next one is quite a ways off."

20%-40% into level: "I still have much to gain to reach my next level."

40%-60% into level: "I'm almost halfway to my next level. That was much faster than I expected."

60%-80% into level: "Just a little more. My next is level is just around the corner."

80%-99% into level: "Well, what do you know? I think I might be leveling soon."

I confirmed that as a soothing healer my NPC focuses more on keeping me alive and less on enfeebling/enhancing. For instance, before the new job... I had to wait for her to cast Poisona on me so that I could rest us both... and she would either cure me or let me die.

Now, if I'm not in white, she will focus more on keeping me healed and away from death... and she almost immediately removes debuffs.

In a previous post i said that your NPC could not lvl up during the promyvion quest and a couple of friends have tried it and their results support my finding. But, the exp your NPC gains in promyvion carrys over to their next lvl. After completing the promyvion quest and adding 1500 exp to my NPC's 1tnl, he didn't lvl up until after the first fight the next time i called him. At first I thought all the exp we gained in promyvion went to waste but instead, it only took him 25 fights to get from 51 to 52 instead of the usual 36. This could be due to the fact that you can get more exp per fight after lvl 50 though, so if anyone has been lvling their NPC on Tomb Warriors and Mages in Eldieme Necropolis, have you noticed a decrease in kills per lvl after 50?

Any good ideas where to level your NPC @58?

56 -> 57 took 57 Weapons near the entrance of Ro'Maeve
57 -> 58 took 63.

I don't really want to see what 58 -> 59 is going to look like, it's going to be over 70 weapons, or three and a half calls out!

wondering if anyone has any good thoughts on it.

What I do is find friends that want to level their NPC and go as Party.

Right now at 49 we goto Quicksands to level our NPCs. Since thats where level 50 characters to go level.

So at level 56 I would say you want to go level in Boyada Tree off Crabs and Knight Crawlers.

NPC Mob/Time Limit
Your NPC can stay out for a certain amount of time and certain amount of mobs. After the times runs up or you kill enough mobs - your NPC dissapears.

Limits:
lv30-40 - 15 mobs/30 minutes
lv40-58 - 20 mobs/50 minutes
lv58-60 - 25 mobs/75 minutes

My NPC is lv31, and she stays out for 45 minutes tops.
I don't know enough about affinity yet to even begin to speculate as
to why mine stays out 15min more than some peoples, but I have
timed and confirmed she always leaves 1 sec after my Signal Pearl hits
19:15.
Maybe the figures are wrong, although I don't think I've killed 15
enemies in that amount of time due to the beetles being Easy Prey
to me, I never realized there was an enemy limit, so never counted.
I'll start counting tonight when I begin, probably going to try Batallia Downs.
I'll Edit this post after I get some results, although she'll
probably hit 32 tonight ^^

I am having trouble doing the first mission, with the Taru in the Library in Windy. I am not sure if I have gotten the mission from Luto but she is no longer speaking to me about anything so I can assume that I have. I go to the Taru and he is giving me library books return notices, this is not a big deal since i figured I would have to complete these before dealing with the NPC mission.

Unfortunately he still does not tell me anything about the mirror or a book in the library in regards to them. I have all the correct food and have completed all the mission he gives in Windy. I also have Hero fame in all cities and my NPC is level 35. If anyone has any clue as to how I have messed this up, please give me a clue, I really wanna start leveling her in Promyvions as well. Thanks for the help. ^^

If you are talking about the level cap food quest, this starts in Selbina. Recheck all the great info above. You will NOT get the quest from the Selbina guy if you dont have a good relationship with your NPC.

No I am talking about the mission: Past Reflections. This doesn't seem to want to active and /or continue for me. :/

Edit: I noticed the steps jump from 2 to 4. Is this a mistake or is there a step missing?

As far as I know there is no step 2-3.

I got the quest, went to the guy, there was a tarutaru bazaar right next to him. Bought all the stuff from that bazaar and completeled the quest. >.>

seems to me that of you solo, you're NPC will stay out for 20/25 kills, but if you are in a PT with other ppl lvling NPCs, they will only stay out for 15 kills

This might be the problem. Took me a while to figure it out too.

This is wrong. Me and two of my friends level our npc's in boyhada tree. My npc is 56 (dinged last night), the other's two are 54 and 48. They all stay out for 20 kills. Another place we level is Temple of Uggelpeth (sp?). I use this website to look up mob range and try to keep the mobs 6+ levels ahead of my npc for primo exp.

Used too, we would level in western altepa desert and theirs would dissapear after 15 kills and mine would stay.

I'm a 75war/nin, friends are 75bst/whm and 70thf/nin. With the bst being able to have a pet along with his npc, we pretty much don't have a problem leveling in these areas.

I have a quick question... if I wanted to upgrade her to a new weapon... would I have to start from the first weapon all over? I had her using a great katana all the way to the 4th upgrade and now she won't take a mythril axe (the 5th one that I unlocked).

Well, I Can Confirm Katars as the 5th upgrade, Been using GA since the first, but crafting the twicer would be about 100k, and thats way too steep for it, plus raging fists seems like its gonna be good
