Does anyone know if when you trade a different weapon to ur NPC, does ur NPC lose the skill ups from the previous weapon? Especially if you use the different weapon for a long time? Might be a silly question, but im just curious :)

NPCs don't skillup at all on weapons. They have an "A" rating in all weapons and their skill is automaticlly capped the instant they level. Immediately upon hitting 49 my NPC learned Penta Thrust, Vorpal Thrust @ 55, and I expect to see some Skewer action when my NPC hits 60 tonight or tomorrow.

Hit 50 with my NPC today. He stayed for 25 mobs again. In addition, I received the Genkai quest immediately after our leveling session, so I don't think you need 60% of your exp. to hit 51 to receive the quest. Pretty sure the quest availability is based on your NPC being level 50 and having a good affinity rating.

Ah maybe i didnt ask the question right. My NPC is currently using a Great Axe, has the final upgrade. If i change to lets say, Axe, will my NPC need to go through all the upgrades again starting from lvl 1? And will they have all the weaponskills already up to the level (atm 54)?

Sorry if someone has already mentioned, I looked through quickly and didn't see this. Chameleon Capers doesn't appear to require Regaining trust to have been completed. Luto gave me it today and my npc is only 43 so I haven't done either genkai quest.

Oh ok, gotcha. This has actually been answered a few times on this thread.
1. No, you don't have to go through all the upgrades again. If say you've just been offered the Lv.5 upgrade, and you've been using Great Axe all this time and wish to switch to Axe, just trade the #5 Axe.

2. This answer was in my last response. NPCs will always have their skill for their weapon capped, so they will always have all the Weapon Skills available for their level.

Wrong.

You can attempt the promivion quest once per RL day, and it is reset at JP midnight.

Yup that's true. What I did wrong was go back to town rhend. point instead of going back to promy one. Thanks.

Also, got my npc to level 55. Very happy about that and he has rampage!! I'm doing my trials weapon and so I've been using him to sc with. fun thing is no matter what he does I can get a level 2 sc with him by using true strike.

I haven't gotten the 60 cap quest yet of 5 upgrade, but I'm enjoying our time together right now.

for one rampage cant be invole with a lv 2 sc....

rampage > true strike is detonation, reverse it and its scission

true strike can end fustion and not evey axe ws starts fusion. true strike can start gravation but i dont recall an axe ws able to end it

I handed in an Uchigatana for my first upgrade and was then offered the second upgrade. I couldn't find a Nodachi, so remembering your post I grabbed a cheap Spatha, the second sword upgrade, but Luto won't take it. Have I mixed something up?

Yes I have gotten the fifth weapon request. I was just pointing out for future revisions of the requirements for specific parts that Regained Trust isn't required for Chameleon Capers.
#338 Oct 29 2005 at 8:36 PM Rating: Good
i think weapon 5 is only requement for new job quest.

Ok, i will be able to confirm or deny later today/this week about regaining trust being a requisite and it just being the 5th upgrade, my NPC is lvl 46 now and has the 5th upgrade Katars, and i will be mass lvling it today (still have the 4 charges from last week, and ill get a new one today, for a total of 9 charges, with signal pearl) so NPC should be 49 or 50, which means i will have yet to do either genkai, but i will have enough trust extra ^^

No 5th weapon upgrade yet, no Regaining quest and no Capers quest yet.

I'm at level 55 capped.

Adventuring Fellow Guide has been updated!

the info about GKT is wrong, since Uchigatana (lvl12) GKT is second weapon that you can give to your NPC not first.

even though it used to be first and then followed by the Tachi (lvl8) GKT , but that has been changed now its Tachi > Unchigatana.

Edit : can someone confirm the Duel Wield for the NPC ? I would like to give my NPC 2x Katana :D

I had my npc use a greataxe from the #1-4 upgrades. but for the 5th upgrade, the twicer, which requires metal purification, i gave her a h2h weapon instead because no NA smithers on our server have that guild item.
I noticed a significant drop in both damage and accuracy. She can't hit hardly anything now, and when she does its for very little damage. leads me to believe that consistantly tradeing the same weapon does have a bonus.

NPC Mob/Time Limit
Your NPC can stay out for a certain amount of time and certain amount of mobs. After the times runs up or you kill enough mobs - your NPC dissapears.

Limits:
lv30-40 - 15 mobs/30 minutes
lv40-58 - 20 mobs/50 minutes
lv58-60 - 25 mobs/75 minutes

I believe this is wrong, at least some-what. My NPC is level 38 and her current kill maximum is 20 mobs.

After you finish the first NPC quest Past Reflections and the bond between you and your NPC is strengthened, you can now call your NPC every 20 hours earth time instead of 24 hours.

The signal pearl has always been a 20 hour recast, even before the new added quests.

The signal pearl I have was always able to be used every 20 hours.

I don't know if somebody said that before but... Regaining Trust isnt a Pre-req for Chameleon's quest. My npc is 45 and I got it today. That quest is only about affinity (I have 5th upgrade too).

I just got the 5th weapon upgrade for my NPC, and traded a halberd... the model for which is basically like, a great axe, with a long handle. I summoned her and she has a trident spear.. totally diff from the spear i traded o.O no complaints here.. it looks cooler, but is this a bug?
