I have a few more questions. I just, sadly, feel like a noob asking them, lol. Maybe i am, but thats for ppl to find out :P

1) If in an alliance of 3PCs/3NPCs(PT1) and 2PCs/2NPCs(PT2), can mages from PT1 heal NPCs in PT2?

2) I know the whole current level thing where the higher the level the longer ur NPC stays out, but what if ur NPC is say, 55, and you wanted to level in an EXP pt of level 25-26, will ur NPC stay out as if she/he was 55 (but obviously capped at your level), or stay out as if she/he 30?

Thanks

Yeap. Since I am melee, and my NPC static usually is Bard, BLM(or WHM), and Paladin, they are usually in the first alliance, while I am am alone in the 2nd party. They can heal my NPC just fine.

You cannot heal NPC not in your alliances though.

Duration is by affinity not Level. You can summon your NPC in too weak areas 1000 times and she will never leve, but she will still stay the same amount a time as someone who leveld her every trip for 1000 trips.

Short answer is, yes, she will stay the same time whether she is capped or not.

I went to Angelica first too. And I didnt have to go back to Selbina mid quest, like its listed with Umberto.

-------------------------------------

And on regular Robbers she got 210+ on Rampage twice of out the 4 she used. I highly recommend Axe as a weapon if anyone is deciding on what weapon to use.

I love when my npc does Rampage. He's so hawt!! Not sure if I'm gonna go to Great Axe for 5th upgrade or stick with axe because of Rampage.

BTW I finially got the Regaining trust quest. Easy, done. Also got a third option for headwear, a cute beret.

Waiting now for capers. Have two people lined up waiting.

But yeah I switched out of hand 2 hand. I also suggest people not use Sword, hand 2 hand, or staff. Mainly because twice now in Boyada and Quicksand My NPC has used Spinning attack, which is AOE. I am sure that Sword and Staff users will use Circle Blade and Earth Crusher as well.

Just for reference, here are all the AOE weaponskills in the game:
Spinning Attack (Hand-to-Hand)
Cyclone (Dagger)
Circle Blade (Sword)
Shockwave (Greatsword)
Spinning Scythe (Scythe)
Earth Crusher (Staff)
And so here are all the melee weaponclasses you can safely give your Fellow, if you're afraid of them hitting the wrong monsters:
Axe
Greataxe
Polearm
Katana
Great Katana
Club

My advice, however, is to give them whatever you think looks coolest... >.>; Just work around other monsters, or if you're really brave, fight wherever and only move when your npc gets tp. (note: cyclone is a semi-ranged weaponskill like gust slash, so running away doesn't always work)

my question, if anyone can help... my npc is lvl 34, i've been offered the first weapon upgrade, i've bought and resold like 8 different weapons, ranging from lvl 1 to lvl 34, all swords, and neither luto or my npc- (i'm aware the trade goes to luto, i was just desperate)- will take the stupid trade. i've already recieved the option to do promy quests, etc. what in the hell am i doing wrong? what weapon should i use?

(edit) also, my npc is hume female in attack mode, not sure what difference it makes, though.

It would probably help if you read the OP which lists all weapon upgrades by class >.>

So DPS for these weapons doesn't mean a thing? Its painful upgrading my NPC48's weapon to a Lance and watching him poke those mobs for 18-20 damage. And I'm not paying 100k for a Ashura that will be replaced shortly.

Any views on what makes a good attacker's weapon? Yes, Falx looks kewl.

true, i got 50 and done the quest ^^

i remember to have read somewhere that liv50 was not a prerequisite to activate the quest ^^;

My NPC has the lvl 5 Polearm, and he will easily take hate from me if I do not SA to start a fight.

Now that I need to fight mobs that are not going to just stand there and let me SA on them (since they are closer to my level), I now have to build TP with bolts, sleep the mob, SA + DE just so that I can keep the hate off my NPC.

My NPC is in attacker mode.
My NPC is however a Galka, which could make a difference, vs say a Taru in attacker mode.

The DPS of the various weapons DEFFINATELY makes a difference.

I like Great Axe and Polearm nice to see Strumwind at times then at 49 I switched to Polearm and every now and then she tosses a pentathrust. To me it is all about the Weapon skill my NPC can use. I have used Great Sword and Great Katana as well but I think I will stick to Polearm it is fastest 2hnd weapon I think and good damage and it is pretty cool to see pentathrust or double thrust. Also makes it easy to SC with on my War.

Perhaps someone can help me with this. My npc has been level 50 over the past 3 days (callings), and I beleive is 1 tnl (she says she's about to level up.), and I still cannot log LB1. Diederik just says "I have a painting on the way from Angelica. She is pretty well known..."

I have the 2nd headwear upgrade and I got Blightened Gloom logged on the 1st calling she hit 50. I didn't do the promy quest, but I have the ability to do it. I don't really want to call her tonight if she's not going to get exp. >.>

Thanks for your time, keep up the nice thread.

Just another confirmation that Regaining Trust is not a prerequisite to Chameleon Capers.

Got the 5th Weapon Upgrade, got my affinity up a bit by calling NPC a few times, got quest. NPC is only level 34.

BTW, I have a T.M.:Fortitude if anyone wants to trade on the Garuda Server^^

The following was part of the October update - not reflected on page 1:
Quote:
-The items, and order of items, required to change the weapon wielded by your adventuring fellow have been changed as follows:
Xiphos -> Bronze Sword
Bronze Sword -> Xiphos
Tachi -> Nodachi

I read this to mean that the Uchigatana is replaced by the Tachi. And swords go Bronze Sword -> Xiphos rather than Bronze Sword -> Spatha

I was in the habit of dropping my pearl twice sometimes three times a day when I learned that this negatively affected your NPC relationship. I redid the quest and got a new pearl I have not dropped since I obtained it. Now for my question.

Two days ago Luto finally told me my NPC was looking for a better weapon this is the second tier, traded her a Gaxe to take the place of the Butterfly Axe.

Soon after that and I may have this backwards I was given a new option for headgear, either a leather bandana, or nothing. Soon after I spoke with Luto again and got the first NPC quest tracking down the book with the info on how to repair the mirror.

I have completed that quest and called my NPC twice since then, I am curious on how long I may have untill I recieve the second quest to obtain the metal to fix the mirror.

I'm sorry if this has been discussed before, but to be totally and brutally honest I am too lazy to read 9 pages of posts hoping my question is in one of them.

Thank you in advance for any help or information.

Umm, dude. Did you even ready the OP.

Picture Perfect (raising your level cap to 55)
Summary: Diederik has lost a painting ordered by a valued customer. He wants you to help him earn time or get a new painting before anyone notices.

You have get your NPC up to about 60% experience in level 50 for him to give you the quest. You DON'T have to complete Promyvion quest, you have to complete "A Pose By Any Other Name" (Angelica, Windurst Waters, 2nd Floor of Rarab's Tail)

My NPC Zoldof hit 60 yesterday; he did Guillotine 3 times during the remaining battles. It was great seeing all of our work pay off like that. :D

Now I am going to focus on leveling in places to get the outfit that I want him to wear. Overall, this last update was pretty awesome for NPC fans.

I think that getting ur NPC killed lowers affinity, maybe no where near the amount of dropping a pearl, but slightly. I level my NPC with my friend, mine is currently 56 (just dinged) and my friend's is 57 (just dinged also). Prior to level 45, we've been soloing our NPCs, and I know we have been calling it out more or less the same amount of time, he might have done it more then i have, but i have leveled it slightly faster then he did until like level 50. Since he is 75 and im only 62, he has a lot easy time leveling then i do ><. Anyway, i know for a fact he got his killed lots of times, not really on purpose, but it happens; ive only gotten mine killed maybe like 5 times max, far less then he has. When we level as a party, mine stays out for about 5 fights longer then my friends, and this started when out NPCs were around level 54. Prior to 54, like 50-54, out NPCs stayed out the same time, and left the same time.

Level definitely does not determine the length of time ur NPC stays out, but i do thing death could affect affinity. But, it would make sense in the first place right? Im pretty sure ull get pissed if ur friend got u killed >.>

Just want to mention that for Picture Perfect you need to have the pearl in inventory before the NPCs will give you cutscene. You may even need it equipped.

My friend couldn't get the cutscene until she went to her moghouse and took out her pearl.

We finished the quest yesterday. Then did a level session in CN. Dinged 51, came back to Luto, and got the Regaining Trust quest immediately.

Not sure if the quest require 51 or you can do it immediately after you finish the level 55 cap quest.

Much like Genkai quests for PC, you have to be 50 to start Genkai 1, but you can start Genkai 2 once you hit 51 (and as long as you have enough affinity).

In addition, no one I know has received more than 4 headgear options, and we've been that way for over a week now. Think it's safe to assume that's the cap (excuse the pun) for headgear until S-E adds more NPC quests.

Also, if the OP ever updates this thread, would it be possible, perhaps, to add a section at the end of people on the various servers with specific manuals to trade? I've managed to unlock all three, but I keep mine in my bazaar in case anyone else needs it.

Send a /tell to Remington on Diabolos if you need Fortitude.

For completeness, you might want to make a walkthrough for the actual NPC quest itself.
