I believe the Promyvion quest is related to affinity as well, so just wait until you call your NPC a couple more times - I got access to the quest around the same time I received the third Weapon Upgrade. Feel free to freak out if you get that and still don't have the Promyvion quest activated.

Ok. I got it. But not until after JP minight. So I don't know what I did during the day to get it. I did call out my NPC earlier so most likely something to do with your bond with NPC and it not updating until after JP midnight of that day...or something like that.

Anyways, got my Tactics Pearl. PTed with a JP friend and his NPC in ProMea...he joined me after i'd already done a few kills, so when finished I got 1500xp and he got 1300xp...my JP wasn't good enough to explain to him why he got less though, lol. I stayed fighting empty mobs until my NPC said he would leave in a bit. When I got that I went and clicked the ???.

Anyone gone to xp on 3rd floor yet? I wonder if the xp cap goes up to 2500 or 3000?

The first time I did the Tactics Ring quest, I did it right after an XP session with my NPC. I went to the second floor to find my ???, I got 800 XP. I didn't kill any Empty mobs, although the ones on the first floor tried to kill me.

Does the bonuse XP come from killing Empty mobs or can you just come from a NPC session and find the ??? and get the bonus?

That's good to hear. So yeah, I think it's safe to say you can get 1200 exp. from killing mobs (wonder if you get more than 40 exp. per mob on higher floors), and then a bonus from the ???.

So far, 300 from first floor, 800 on second.

Just to clear it up, a prerequisite for the promy quest is the food quest, and u must summon ur NPC 2-3 (me and a friend needed 3) times after u finish that quest.

I had a second hat for my npc before Blighted Gloom.

Last night I got about 830 experience points for my NPC by finding the ??? on the first floor of Promyvion-Dem. I spent a little bit of time clearing a path of destruction to the ??? spot before inspecting it.

I ran into a small annoyance after I finished, when I returned to town to talk to my npc, she kept trying to give me a new tactics pearl (I still had my last one), and the game wouldn't allow me to access any of the conversation menus because I couldn't obtain the new tactics pearl. I need to dispose of the old one before I can talk to her again in town, which probably means I'll have a nice long night of farming soon.

Ok, Just Got Something New, And From This I Have Kinda Confirmed that....

Level Has Nothing To Do With Luto Quests

I Attained The Blighted Gloom Quest After My NPC Dinged 42 and is 2 fights from 43, So im guessing its number of times summoned and NOT level in any way because ive summoned my NPC well over 50 times now, mostly to lvl low lvl jobs. I also attained the 3rd weapon upgrade at 40, so that puts away the fact that it is lvl 50 requirement (My friend Dracent on my server can confirm this) Also, I As Well got a choice to change to a hat after i started blighted gloom. Oh, Also, I Attained All the NPC Quests Before Most People said was the requirement. (I Put that in big font to keep people from asking questions about it ~.~)

As posted on www.ffxionline.com, the missing weapons on the list for the 4th upgrade:

Swd: Long Sword(18)
GSd: Falx(33)
Sct: Zaghnal(20)
Clb: Brass Rod(12)
Stf: Spiked Club(25)

And you should really fix the allignment on the shields (maybe put -.-- in the dps column if it's a forum issue).

Your NPC does not have to be far into level 50 in order to get the limit break quest. I think you just need it to be level 50, even with 0 exp into the level. My NPC dinged 50 one fight before he left for the day, and I was able to go straight to Selbina and get the quest.

It appears that you can't use your fellow npc to complete escort quests, so if you zone into an escort area (such as Crawler's Nest) with the quest active, you'll have to wait until the escort npc (Olavia)is dead before you can call your fellow npc.

Yeah the number of places it's usable has increased alot. I popped mine in Castle Zvahl, which was funny since it seemed everyone that walked by me and my NPC would /tell me HOW DID YOU SUMMON YOUR NPC HERE?!.. I guess alot of people don't read the update notes. 8)

At this point we need to determine where the NPC's can't be used. I've heard Ru'Aun Gardens (and all of Sky) mentioned. I assume Sea is also on the no-NPC list. Has anyone tried popping the NPC in other capped zones, like Riverne or Aquaducts?

I bring good news for those of you who died while trying the Promy mini-quest! After the last tally I went to get another Tactics Pearl and Sahyu told me about the emptyness and all that. So I went with a bunch of friends hoping to get farther into Promy than before with my NPC. Hopefully even the 3rd or 4th floor. Unfortunately I got caught by a Weeper and killed while I was attempting to get my 2nd ???.
When I got back to the Rendezvous Point in the Promy and Ru'Lude Gardens, nothing happened. I thought I lost my chance at a Tactics Pearl for this week by being too greedy.

Well a day passed and I went to help a friend get her Tactics Pearl. Half-heartedly I clicked the Rendezvous Point in the Promy and much to my surprise I got the CS again!

Now I'm not sure if you can do this if your NPC is killed. I just died the first time and my NPC disappeared because of it. However if you do ***** up like I did, there is still hope! Just wait a day and try again.

well I still dont have food quest or the Promy quest but I still managed to hand in third weapon to luto (nodichi (sp?) lvl 16 GKT), I had my bro try the next one but he couldnt trade it but still managed to trade in lvl 16 GKT.

seems the armor changes are due to affinity with the npc, as he/she gets killed their affinity drops by a bt so does the armor, same thing if you dont make any xp Progress when out in field.

Answer:

The armor that you see on your NPC is purely cosmetic. It has no effect on their attack/defense/MP/etc.

SSubZero wrote:
The funny thing is, they absolutely *SPECIFICALLY* addressed this very misconception in the last patch. If you do "let's chat" the NPC will explain that the gear you see on them *may not necessarily be the gear you think it is.*

Armor is completely random. My NPC decided to start walking around in Lv.1 RSE the other day and I can assure you she and I are quite amiable.

On a side note, I was just offered Weapon Upgrade #4 tonight. She's about 3/4 of the way to 55 (I can tell by talking to her now). I'll post damage details once the AH gets a Lance in stock tomorrow.

I just want to let people know I got the Blighted Gloom quest when my NPC was only LVL51. This is after I did the food quest given by Luto and the Promy quest.

I was asked to go to Ranguemont Pass. The ??? is located at (I-9) on top of a small rock.

I'm so happy to finish this quest since I would really love to see my NPC wear something other than a Circlet. ^ ^

You do *not* get an extra headwear option for completing this quest. I had two headwear options available before even receiving the quest, and even after completing it, I still only have two headgear options.

In addition, it seems the headwear options are totally random, but I'm assuming you'll unlock more as you use your NPC more.

You can add Pso'xja to the list of areas where the NPC still cannot be called. I even tried it in the uncapped areas of Pso'xja, which seemed to me like it would have a decent chance of working.

Empress band might influence NPC..., First Day, I used Signal Pearl and Tactics Pearl: NPC lvl 37-40 Second Day: Signal Pearl and tactics Pearl with empress band: D/c on Signal pearl as soon as i use, so no signal pearl xp, use 4 tactics pearl and im 1-2 fights from lvl 43 on my NPC. So im guessing it might have something to do with it since 40-43 takes more xp then 37-40

I hope this hasn't already been asked.

But does changing your NPC's fighting style have any negative effects on your NPC or your relationship with your NPC?

I like the attacker mode NPC, because I am Rdm main and Rdm's weakpoint is low damage output. But lets say I go out to level my Mnk in a Valkurm Dunes party, and I want to set my NPC to healer mode "just in case" my party is wiping and I need some extra healing power to save my *****

Will that hurt my NPC at all? Thanks in advance for the advice.
