Don't whatever you do uninstall FFXI. I've had 2 friends who got a corruption during an update, uninstalled FFXI and it corrupted the kernel dlls in Windows and they had to format their hard drive.

Just a friendly warning.

PlayOnline Viewer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Happens right after retrieving messages. GO GO POL!
I'm not looking foward to reinstalling either.

Same here with 2 different computers, try and get passed the getting messages and Blam, it crashes. Sighs this sucks, and here I thought this update was easy to download with no problems getting in to get it. I guess they made a lier outta me.

Same's happening with mine. I log on, get to where the Friend's List starts ringing up in the little drop-down at the top of the viewer, and then it unceromoniously goes and crashes on me.

And there I was thinking this update was absolutely perfect :( No POL 00-11's, fast update speed, no waiting for three days just to get a download slot... >.>

Ok calm down people, the fact you get the same on 2 different computers indicates that it is probably a problem their end not your end (unless both computers PoL corrupted - unlikely).

If its their end they will fix the problem (probably with a maintenance). I'd just wait for a while or ring their Tech Support.

Yeah I'm def not reinstalling, I'll just wait for them to fix it. Would make me homicidial to reinstall the whole blasted thing and get the same thing happening when I'm done.

Same thing happened: On 3 different systems. 2 PCs and a laptop. Both PCs have different hardware altogether.

1 PC is patched, the other isn't. Both have the same POL error.

/cry

I was worried that it was just me and I was ruined!

Anyways, I'm just trying a reinstall on POL instead of everything and see if that fixes it.

In case there was still any doubt about this not being a widespread problem -- happened to me, too.

No sweat, though.
Just lose out on a little playing time.
