Everyone...DO NOT REINSTALL POL or FFXI.

I just did some error checking on this update. There were about 41 affected files and all were .dll such as kernel32, ole, RPC, ntddll, etc etc. This is your basic file swapping structure of nearly every version of Windows out there. I do not know if this problem is migrated to PS2 users, but for PC Windows users...DO NOT REINSTALL POL or FFXI.

If you uninstall and reinstall, your registry will be corrupted. Unless you have a backup done, your only other option will be to reload your whole PC.

Thanks to SE for ******** the pooch in pure doggy style without the benefit of a reacharound and a cigarette. This is beyond a 'coding issue'. This is a liability.

I will be posting further results of tests I'm running as of right now.

Reintalled, updated, same problem. the update broke POL and the best part is that because POL is broken SE won't be able to fix it with an new update because uspdating requires that you run POL, which isn't working.

Adjust the resolution of menus.
The main screen resolution for "FINAL FANTASY XI" is dependent on the "Overlay Graphics Resolution" setting.
If the Overlay Graphics Resolution is set higher than the Menu Resolution, menus will be automatically resized.

Im waiting in line for PoL complaints! Just like last night at Diabolos, im queing again. That was just fookin ridiculous last night but we manaburned him and my SMN75 now has a big red devilly guy! I pwn ><

Im sorry everyone though, its my fault, I got Diablos to use Nightmare on the PoL server and accidentally slept it and its losing HP as we speak, sorry ><

Maybe if it was outside my AoE it would just disappear and reappear back at PoL HQ?

I got called into my first job early, so that's 7:30AM to 12PM.

Than, at my other job, we're staying open until 12AM for the Holidays, so that's 3PM to 12AM.

I'm hoping SE has this all sorted out by 12:15PM. That way I can get in some playing time today.

I love this game, I'm going into my third year of playing it, I just wish there was more time to play! =P

At any rate, come on, SE! You can fix this fast! I BELIEVE in you. ;)

Update Notice: We regret to inform our PC customers that due to a coding oversight the previous update irrepairably damages the windows file partition. A low level format and re installation of windows will be required to recover from this condition. We apologize for any inconvenaince this may have caused.

Wonder if it only is an error at that one point, so if you were logged in you are ok.

Has anyone logged in since the problem surfaced?

So let's get this straight:

People who have updated and re-installed after having the error are getting registry corruption? This is an extremely serious problem for SE to deal with, and if this is the case, I don't expect a fix any time soon.

---------------------------------

Managed to get to Tech Support finally. They are obviously run off their feet with pleas for a solution to this, the guy didn't even give me chance to ask any questions:

FFXI TSR Brendan: Hello Becky, Thank you for contacting the PlayOnline Information Center. One moment please, while I read your question. Thank You!

They don't have a clue what is wrong. This isn't looking good at all guys...
