o.O;

Oh god I hope that's not the case, same problem here with PoL, hope SE fixes it soon.

Guess I'm lucky I upgraded my computer a month ago, my DVD Burner should make backing up my files much easier...

[PS]Rate up for everyone on the thread, glad I'm not alone.

Not looking forward to the rate down for posting here, but thank god someone posted this.

I get an almost dc (10 seconds of holding breath) then full dc and then I find I cant get back on to fully log onto Playonline. I keep getting "has to close message" after the friends online pop up. Was just about to reinstall but I thought I would check here first... thank god I did.
I just did some error checking on this update. There were about 41 affected files and all were .dll such as kernel32, ole, RPC, ntddll, etc etc. This is your basic file swapping structure of nearly every version of Windows out there.
I have one thing to say about that. A good prog. aka Fire Fox, Norton or any othere non MS prog. cant play with the kernel or and other system file. Thats my under standing.

Just want to add a note I got POL to stay up by spam clicking on the MESSAGES button... POL stayed up... Until I clicked the button to close the messages.

My guess is one of the updates news graphics or something is causing a system wide video error.

Congrats to SquareEnix...
You've managed to f*** things up more than Microsoft could ever imagine doing.

thats cause the kernel your talking about IS Microsoft., however, there ARE programs out there that can play with it. hopefully pol isnt one of them

Hmm, what if Square is attempting to install a rootkit or similar to combat hacking and it farked up? That would explain why tech support is basicly telling us "go away!". They don't want people to know they've been ******** around with windows and compromising our security behind our backs.

Final Fantasy XI 12-14-11 Update wrote:
Adjust the resolution of menus.
The main screen resolution for "FINAL FANTASY XI" is dependent on the "Overlay Graphics Resolution" setting.
If the Overlay Graphics Resolution is set higher than the Menu Resolution, menus will be automatically resized.

I thought of it first:

Yeah, it seems to be a problem with the news feed, as someone has already commented on. I tried spamming Friends' List just now, but no go.

Guys, don't bother contacting Tech Support anymore - you will get the same "Cut & Paste" reply a few of us have already received and it's just a waste of time. Do something else, wait a bit...but refrain from re-installing if you possibly can.

I dread to think how much time a full format and restore will take me, all of my work stuff is on here. And that's even before I put FFXI back on. With all the updates now, I would think it'd take a good few hours (maybe even a day) to get it fully updated and running. I knew I should have left my mule on last night before I went to bed. There goes my CoP static tonight. Meh.

That is disgraceful customer service. SE you really test my patience sometimes, if WoW wasn't such a bad game i'd of left a long time ago. Please SE you have a good game in FFXI just please sort all these problems out.

I doubt that Lob. They are saying Go Away because 50,000 people are asking them what is going on. They are trying to let people know as quick as possible that they are working on it and they know about the problem.

possible, but look at the implications of that. Without fail, someone WOULD find out eventually, and that would lead to major lawsuit from M$. while it would be interesting to see two corporate superpowers go up against each other, i think the laws would side with M$ on that one.

FFXI TSR Brendan: I'm sorry that you cannot log into the POL Viewer at this time. We are aware of this issue and currently investigating the causes of this error. Unfortunately, the causes are currently unknown, but we are continuing our investigation into this issue affecting many of our customers. We hope to have this issue resolved soon. Thank you for your patience.

Damn Brendan must be spamming that short key!

No, not true.

At least not officially.

I for one think if it did damage to my computer, it would have done so yesterday after the update. I played yesterday and this morning.

I would not reformat or reinstall FFXI. Because of the amount of people who will try this, and with the update yesterday, it waill take HOURS to update the files again.
