Also during my second walk (regular, not short) I met a Galka in La Thiene who was walking his yellow with white tipes Chocobo. He called his pet "Blood" and my choco and his became friends.

Story of a Youthful Chocobo -- Pulonono (chocobo trainer in Windurst)
Story of an Impatient Chocobo -- Hantileon (chocobo trainer in San d'Oria)

Good stuff Palicrovol. If we look at the stories and the abillities can we link them.
Like impatient and youthfull sound like speed so Gallop and Canter.
Curious - Burrow
Happy - Bore
Worrysome - auto regen.

They dont all match, but it gives you something to think about.

So when you set up a scale to measure the effect of foods and actions with your birds, remember to take that into consideration.

Perhaps your affection level determines the reward for your efforts. For an absolute example taking a walk in town will give you +1 STR when affection low and +5 STR when it regards you as its parent/ (fictional numbers but again something to think about.)

If we use the care plan chart on the first page (the one that uses numerical values instead of arrows) we can get an idea of what care plans have what kind of effects, right? Well, we can take it further by using that to see the cumulative effect of multiple days. If we do Basic Care (which raises all physical and mental attributes by a relative value of 1) for four days, then we have a cumulative effect of +4 to those stats. This is handy on plans that have mixed effects, both up and down. Using some math, if we do 14 days of Basic Care, mixed with 7 days of Treasure Hunting, we get the following effect: STR+14, END+0, DIS+35, and REC=14. We see that the relative value of a decrease in Endurance provided by treasure hunting is counteracted by the basic care increase. (I've made myself a spreadsheet document that lets me see the relative effects of various care plan combinations and lengths.)

Im trying to do just that in my diary. Still have to add the care plans here.

ive met the Galka in La Thiene three times now, and he gave me the story of a worrysome chocobo. and i dont think conquest has anything to do with who you meet, cause on my server, sandy controls Zulkheim and i still met Blood and the Galka. plus Konstat and La Thiene are both part of Zulkheim so that would ***** over either bastok or sandy each week.

I'm inclinded to believe you. Would make sense if people could accumulate all available books.

edit: Does anyone have links to images from the .dats on adolescent chocobos?

Second day of delivering packages with the same result as the first:

Hantileon : Your chocobo has been out carrying packages. It seems the clients received their orders in a timely fashion...

Hantileon : But it seems that the chocobo was in so big of a hurry that it dropped some of the packages on the way.

Hantileon : Your pay has arrived from the guilds in the form of 100 gil. You have earned it.

What's funny is:

Hantileon : It is a very patient chocobo, making it ideal for carrying goods.

Uh huh >.>
I'm currently spamming "Story of an impatient Chocobo" under the assumption that maybe it will make him *more* patient, but I'm not holding my breath.

Day 23...

I must have a very weak chocobo. I let her exhibit to puplic twice now, and both she really played to the crowd, and i got 200G again today. Yesterday i let her play with other chocobos and she really enjoyed that too. Fed her only Zegham carrots for the past days and while she was a chick she listened only to music for, hm, let's say a week? But still... all her stats are poor. ;_;

Today i let her compete against the 'black' chocobo a third time, she won again and i git the story for the happy chocobo.

After that i took her for a regular walk and met the VCS trainer vom sandy the third time and got the story of an impatiant chocobo from him.

So now i have 3 stories. Only the one from bastok is missing and who knows if we'll get a 5. from the family in jeuno.

OK, Theory.

I think I know when we get the Jueno Trainer Choco story.

So far we can not deliver letters; just packages.

What if when our Chocos reach adult or a week after juvenille they get the deliver letter and dig for treasure option.

I am willing to bet that letter delivery can go to Jueno. After the 3rd time of a Jueno trainer CS you get that Story.

BTW,

Yes all Chocos have a favorite food you just have to figure it out. But no idea if it does anything other than maybe raise affection.

For ppl wondering why your Chocos are weak;
Stop showing in public
Stop listening to music

Walk them , Race them, Work them

Unless you want a Mind based Choco, remember out of its 4 stats only 2 can be high, the other 2 will be low

Day 23

Took a walk in town - interested in everything.
fed 3 vomps
Raced - won again
Regular walk - rainy weather
Read story - happy bird
Watched over 4x's

checked on him:
Strenght and Endurance - substandard
still regards me as parent (creeps me out a bit)

have him on carrying packages for next couple of days.

Creepy. That is exactly the same as my chocobo's day, down to the T. Stats and all!

That is utterly untrue, and has not been said (or shown to be the truth) ANYWHERE.

I think you're misunderstanding a bit of information that we DO know so far, and that is the fact that a chocobo can only know two abilities. This is very different from your chocobo's stats.

Also, remember the fact that while training a chocobo for one stat does have a somewhat negative effect on the "opposite" stat, it's not necessarily an EQUAL reaction. That is to say, just because the "Delivering Packages" plan adds (as an example) +4 to strength, it doesn't necessarily mean it's as much as -4 to discernment. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that considering the way the descriptions of these activities are worded, a lesser negative impact is not only possible ... but likely.

Also, don't forget that the stat-boosting food (Vomp and Zegham carrots) doesn't have any sort of negative effect listed with its description, indicating that there isn't one.

There's absolutely no information so far about any kind of limits to a chocobo's stats, yet, and I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be assumed that all four could be gotten very high.

You might be right but I remember reading Square saying you could only have 2 high stats and "They" referred to Strength Endurance etc. As far as abilities I think "they" said you could only have one.

But there has been a lot written and buried in all the post and a lot forgotten or misremembered.

So, You might be right.

There's an important point in my post that you seem to have missed. Read this line again:

What you're remembering is the fact that a chocobo can only know a maximum of two abilities ... the number "2" was very specifically mentioned there. A limit to stats, however, was not mentioned at all.

If you look at the care plan you can either raise its physical attributes or its mental attributes. So i do agree you have to pick one and go all the way for those. Later on with breeding you can get a all round chocobo. (like 6th generation). As you can imagine a breeded chick will start with higher stats than poor. Etc. etc.

Still all good guys.. keep it up ^^

@Feille what changed in that picture?

Still if you are on Ragnarok and have some Vomp carrots to spare and willing to sell them at a fair price (150k a stack on ragnarok now ><) let me know.

Just wondering if anyone else's choco has some black feathers, not on their tail or head, but under their chin. I noticed this when I raced my choco today, and hadn't noticed it before. The tail and head feathers onmy choco are white/grey, so I'm wondering (and hoping :o ) if this is actually the colouring that his feathers will be, and maybe his tail feathers will be the "highlight" colours. These aren't the best pictures, but I can assure you it's not just shadow under his chin, because it is the same colour when he dos the dance when he wins a race (I'll try to get a pic of his winning race dance tomorrow, no more energy today :( )

I think Azouphs are sweet and Sharugs are bitter. Gysahl greens must be just normal tasting??

Day 23

Strength went up to substandard today ^^ that was after 2 (0r 3) days on Exercise alone (not exactly sure), before that i was racing her and taking her on walks *regular and short* and around town, once i do another day or so of exercise i will start on playing with chocobo's and children, i don't want a strong, dumb, anti-social chocobo, i want a relatively strong chocobo who is at least semi intelligent and likes people/chocobo's...lol, call me an optimist on my first chocobo attempt but oh well ^^

My chocobo became ill and the trainer told me to give it tokopekko. He was unhappy. Also he was bored and wanted to race. So i fed him tokopekko, raced him, walked him, and have done deliver package twice, and excerise alone. He has been injured once and this time he is ill. I have him taking a walk through town today, and tomorrow i will have him exhibit in public.

Let's see what turns about.

Edit: I also read it the happy chocobo story to see if it helps him be unhappy, but i believe he is only unhappy due to the illness.
