Is there anyone out there who's chick still hasn't awoke from last weeks rash of coma-sleep?

On the 5th IRL I had my chocobo set to rest for one day, not knowing of the chocoma that was happening to other players. The first day I checked in on her, she was resting and her HP bar what full, but the chocobo stable guy said that she was starving. On the second day, she was supposed to wake up because she was only supposed to rest for one day, but she did not. Her HP bar was slightly down a little bit but only because I "watched over the chocobo" a few times and the stable guy said yet again that she was starving. After I read about the chocoma (which was on the first day she was resting), I switched her care over to "Basic Care". Next daily update is this morning around 10am PST, so I'll follow up with this post with an update.

For those interested, I went a little further into some of the .dat files last night, with an updated list of the games files.

There are far more options than I had originally posted, particularly with the adult stages. Whereas old chocobos were comprised of only one .dat file, the new versions that (i'm assuming) we're raising are composed of several different files:

-Head
-Body
-Tail
-Legs

There are actually three head shapes, not 2 like I had originally found. There seems to be a large head, an average sized head (looks identical to our current chocobos) and an average head with a large beak.

Also, Tails can range in size and shape, from smaller with less feathers to larger and fuller.

Legs also have a variation - the larger headed birds seem to be mated to equally proportioned "stronger" looking legs.

I didn't have time to put together another image, but i'll make sure to do that tonight when I get home so I can post my findings.

-Fei

P.S. to GimliNL: I wasn't speaking to you in specific, but it is kind of aggrivating to present new information and have people call you a liar. I was more or less spouting off to the general public that was critisicing my findings...

Stat increase FTW!

My chocobo's Endurance is now "Substandard." ^^

I feed her vomps, put her on "Take a Walk" every day, and she also has a "very patient" personality.

Day 17: Still a Chocobaby

Chocobo is feeling "perky" more often now, about once every other day.
She seems to love the Azouh Greens (gobbles them up in a single bite).
I've been feeding a lot of the Azouh Greens to her (1-2 per day depending on
how full she gets). Maybe that's why she is perky more often?

Took her on 3 walks today, and watched over her once.
She met up with Air today for the 5th time. Nothing new since the 3rd meeting when I got the storyline.

Maybe we need to feed the chocobos something special to make them grow up when they're on a perky day.

Checked up on my chick at about 8:21 EST today. Got a CS with the status report stating my chick is perky and wont refuse what i offer. Took her for a walk 3 times, got a CS 2 out of the 3 walks. Got "Story of the impatient chocobo" from one. Here's where im confused; according to my status report my chocobo is in excellent condition, but yet when i feed it it still munches weakly....????? Also, the San D'Orian trainer still hasnt taken my handkerchief from me. Am I doing something wrong here???

It could be that he/she doesn't like what you are feeding him/her very much.

You'll need to zone. It's possible you've been sitting in the zone waiting for something to happen, but have yet to change zones.

Change zones and wait at least 1 game day (real life hour). He should accept it after that.

Ok, just to add some data here. I am on day 17 with my ISNM 75 choco. Since hatching i have fed my choco 1 carrot paste everyday, aside from the 1 day it was sick. I take it on 3 short walks in east saruta each day. Also, it has been on Taking a walk around town every single day. Excluding the first hatched day since the changes to the plan dont go into effect until the next days update. All stats still read poor, on day 17 it finally got a personality. Forgot the exact message but it was a patient choco suitable for carrying goods or something along those lines. Every day i check it is hungry with full energy. 1 carrot paste always takes it back to a full stomach. I frequently get the message after the update saying "Your chocobo has had its fill and has calmed down." I've got the your chocobo feels perky message 3 times now. I've met the taru walking Spring out in saruta somewhere around 15 times now. When it eats the carrot paste for the first few days it said it munches contently (or happily cant remember) now it simply says it eats it.

Hope all that random info helps somehow.

Finally my regimen of music and Zegham carrots has paid off. Am I the only person training their chocobo exclusively in mental attributes? Personally I'd rather my chocobo learned some abilities first, and later I can worry about its strength and endurance.

Today I got a new personality: "Your chocobo has an enigmatic personality, making it hard to tell what it's thinking."

Ive gotten the "enigmatic personality" for 4 days straight now. I didn't think much of until I got it again today. I make mine listen to music everyday and thats about it and feed it veggie paste only since I didnt feel like spending over 20k+ on her. lol..

Well I mentioned in my last post I was gonna play with the "Rest Plan" some more on two chicks.
I took all the precautions I thought important such as full energy bar, full tummy, and subsequent Plans all set to basic.

Last night was the end of the second full day of rest, but they were still asleep,DOH!

I know they'll wake up soon,hopefully tonight,lol.

If your chocobo gets sick and you feed it the proper feed to get better, how long does it take for the chocobo to get better?

Should you keep feeding it until it feels better, or feed it once and wait?

Since I'm at work with nothing to do,I thought I'd mess around with my previous thoughts regarding breed and personality.I went through the posts and pulled out the most complete statement about personality people have mentioned, along with the descriptions on

http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Chocobo and kinda matched them up.

Destrier
"Your chocobo seems ill-tempered making it ideal for military use"

These knightly mounts were bred in San d'Oria. They underwent training that allowed them to bear the weight of heavy armor and withstand the shock of cavalry charges. Destriers were characterized by their large, jet-black bodies and thick, powerful legs. With the decline of lance combat and improvements to ranged weaponry, destriers lost their place in battle to the faster coursers. These days, there are no remaining purebred destriers, but it is possible to see their proud bloodlines occasionally reemerge in the birth of rare, black chocobos.

Courser
"Your chocobo seems ill-tempered making it ideal for military use"
"Your chocobo is very patient, and is good for carrying good"

The courser is a larger-than-average chocobo and is the most common breed found in the Kingdom of San d'Oria. They are characterized by their streamlined bodies, and long, graceful legs. They were originally bred for scouting duties, but their adoption into the military was accompanied by a general acceptance of the courser as an everyday mount. On extremely rare occasions, a red-colored courser will be born.

Palfrey
"Sensitive (likes people)"

The mid-sized palfreys were bred to withstand the searing air and blazing heat of the desert. They are mainly raised in the Republic of Bastok and on Zepwell Island. With a relatively gentle demeanor, these chocobos are suited for those with who lack advanced riding skills. Palfreys are known to come in both blue and yellow.

Jennet
I wonder if these are a magically reduced form of one of the other parent breeds?

This breed of chocobo has been magically reduced in size to provide mounts for the diminutive Tarutaru. They have short legs when compared to other breeds, but like the Tarutaru themselves, jennets are capable of maintaining a rapid pace. Due to a request from the southern Mithra wishing to blend into the jungle, there are some jennets that can be found in a shade of green.

Rounsey
"Your chocobo is enigmatic, its hard to tell what it’s thinking."

With its huge population of adventurers, Jeuno boasts more frequent use of chocobos than any other nation. The main type of chocobo to be found in the duchy is the mid-sized rounsey. The pride of the famous trainer Brutus and his family, the rounsey is the result of a lengthy breeding program involving wild chocobos. This program has produced a robust mount of somewhat unpredictable temperament that is suited for long, punishing treks.

Three of my chicks have yet to show any personality, but the forth was showing "ill-tempered".That went back to none for two days, now it's back again.

Has anyone's chick that has exhibited a personality, ever had that same chick exhibit a different personality?

I started raising a chocobo on a mule and I just noticed that when I had an affection level of "likes you alot" and fed something that triggered the saying "I hope we can make this animal into a fine chocobo" that the affection level went up to "it seems to like you pretty well."

Maybe something to pay attention to.

Last night when I checked my choco's condition, it had gained a patient personality. However, when I checked its condition tonight, immediately after the day's report, its personality had changed to ill-tempered. Has anyone see their choco change to a different personality?

Feielle,

you are a darling. That is excellent info you are providing. A picture says more than a thousand words ^^. Rate up.

On a side-note: those large beaked Chocobo's are kinda ugly, lol, but they'll prolly be good "shineyz" ^^

Yesterday i didnt get a daily report today i got a report for both days. And it was perky. So i paniced over nothing. jamaraq pointed out that the chocobo days dont run on server reset but the time you handed in the egg. (Makes sense huh).

Ive set my schedule to walking in town. Since my affection is capped i thought i could risk some effection for better strengh (and hopefully a personality).

I agree with Captzee that personality will have to do something with breed.

Also good findings Fei. Im assuming what you find today has to do with what SE calls your appearence changes with the abbilities (altho its not implemented yet).
