Quite wrong. This forum has a long history of "hey, my idea is slightly different. Instead of posting it in this existing thread, let me make a whole brand new thread that doesn't really discuss anything that isn't already in the three threads next to the one I was reading!"

This has been happening all the way back to when I was a new poster here.

Fuggin enough already.

Actually, I think the problem is many people only read the first few posts in a thread, and that's it. I've read through long threads and found my repeated replies, I'm not talking about people affirming an answer to a question either, i'm talking where people were asked to perhaps put something creative down, besides few discussions beget well to multi page threads as thread drift eventually takes over.

The other problem then is especially with this issue is, I think there's too few good posts on the subject.

Quote:
"better to keep your mouth closed and let others think you're a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt".

People would do well to learn that. I really only needed to read about 3 posts on the subject to (appearantly) have a much better understanding of the problem than SE (or at least what they've admitted to).

I think it be best served to put the latest information from SE in the sticky, and a short description of the problem and potential remedies.

PROBLEM: there appears to be some sort of IP filtering done at SE's end.

SOLUTION: changing your IP is likely to either fix or change the problem. It may take multiple tries. You may get an IP that won't allow you to log into the game at all, you may get one that causes DC in the exact same zones, you may get one that causes disconnects in different zones.

HOW DO I CHANGE MY IP: let you modem reset, call your ISP, disconnect your router, change your WAN MAC address.

Something like that, that IMO is the useful information in all those threads, summarized. Of course I didn't go into any detail on the 'how' portion, some will need that some won't.

R0 fantasy fiction

The enemy has struck again. Countless fights against his tyrannical rule destroyed in seconds. Was there no one that could stop the dreaded R0?

I have vowed to destroy him, ever since he gave my friends and family the red dot plague, a disease which will destroy a person's body rapidly. Nothing is left of the person that had acquired the disease, every bit of them was destroyed.

I would take R0 out, if it meant the end of me.

Or so I thought.

I snuck to R0's fortress. My plan was to kill him while he sleeps. I searched around until I found him, sleeping soundly in his bed. I slowly approached his bedside, and raised my sword, but at that very moment, he woke up.

I became terrified. What would he do to me? Would he use the plague on me now?

He grabbed me, and threw me onto the bed. "Before I kill you, I think there's something else I'll do to you first..." he said, and he cut my tunic off, and I saw his metallic rod extend. Did I mention he was a robot? Because that's kind of important.

Last night, the error mysteriously fixed itself.

I zoned into a few of the areas that had been killing me, and had no problems. Of course, there could be new zones that disconnect me, but as far as I know right now, I can finally play my game again.

Now watch me d/c when I log in tonight for Limbus. :p

For those of you still having this R0 issue, I have successfully tested a solution.

EDIT: IMO, this is NOT a router issue. Tried with a Cisco router(much easier to control what comes in and goes out if you know what you are doing) and still same issue.

Facts:

1. Issue started happening after the update.
2. My char encountered this issue while entering Meriph. Mountains. & the canyon
3. Spent 2 days messing with connection since it makes sense with the communications part being broke and all.
4. Installed updated yesterday, logged in, still R0.
5. Left character in a bad zone and logged out.

Solution:

Wiped my PS2 installation and started over.

1. Installed FFXI
2. Installed Chains
3. Installed ToAU
4. Let everything update (This time without timeout like on 03/07/07, I think this could be the root cause)
5. Logged in after update completed
6. SUCCESS!! The dead zone I was left in was now functioning normally. Have not run into a dead zone again yet.

Hope this helps someone else out there. Sucks to reinstall but it beats dealing with waiting for SE to fix the issue. Matter of fact, they probably can't fix the issue since it looks to be corrupt files on alot of peoples HDD. Maybe wrong version numbers or something due to the timeout issue during update. Who knows.

I don't think it has to do with a time-out during the update. I got the update in a couple hours without any problems during the maintenance and was still unable to use a lot of zones in the game immediately after the servers came back online.

Not sure if it's fixed now or not. I know as of late last night the jungle still meant death for me, but hopefully soon it'll be fun. It sucks to not be able to join and quests or missions because you're never sure which zones you can play in (and they seem to be changing for me. Port Jeuno used to mean death for me, but now it's fine and Meriphaud Mountains are a new R0 spot)

So.. wait.. there wasn't any server maintenance, no patches added, no ritual sacrifices of NA day-time camping, and people are starting to report that the problems fixed?

What's that? Not SE's fault you say?

Well, like I said, my old problem areas worked fine, that doesn't mean some new area I haven't visited yet isn't screwed up for me.

I logged on last night and things seemed ok for me. But since some people are still having problems, I'm guessing they can't announce anything yet because it's not really fixed yet.

This is what a lot of people don't understand, from the SE folks to the admins here at alla.

There are actually *two* distinct problems in all of these posts that Pikko so haphazardly glommed together.

1) The R0 one, which implies you can get into the game.
2) The FFXI-3113 error at "Acquiring player data" problem, which means you cannot get into the game.

I am of the latter.... I haven't been able to even get into the game since last Thursday. Every time I try, on every system I try it on and using every internet connection I can think of (home, work, a friend's who has no problem getting in the game) I get this error in exactly the same spot.

Like you, I'd be thrilled to actually get into the game long enough to see another problem (well... maybe not, but you get my point :-)

I personally cannot attest anything about this R0 error... but the FFXI-3113 one is a critical problem IMHO. As of right now, I'm paying for a service I can't access. And there's been no acknowledgment of this problem from SE.

I had both (3113 from office, and R0 from home), both problems have disappeared now. You may want to try restart your PC (or Router) before trying again.

The problem is supposed to be disappearing from last night / today morning (as some people reported here). When did you last tried?

3113 is the collateral damage I mentioned in the OP. +_+

I'll tell Imp and Exo not to lock those.
