Sheild Mastery is 25 not 35.

Also Blm spells reduce potioncy after repeted casting.

Utsi icon was changed from a bar spell look to a tron look.
Limbus drop from 50k to 30k.
Fishing was changed to where a mob would be fished red so you coulnt sneak fish, Mining and logging results are effected by how long you are in that zone.
Choco Digging now has lvs and it now takes much longer to lv than when introduced.
Many HNM money drops have been moved to bcnm or kcnm
Strider Boots > Peacock Charm > O.Kote > Speed Belt > Serkets Ring > Leaping Boots > Emp Harpin .

...Rdm was a "nice try SE, but...umm...yea"...might be analogous to a PUP today but worse...only people that played RDM were true pioneers 'tyring' to find a way to 'make' the job work..it was def. a last choice for PT's tho..times have changed...

hahaha, when I played this game years ago I remember when I was a RDM and I basically had to solo because I couldn't get a pt invite to save my life. Funnily enough when I chose to come back I still picked to play RDM ^_^

This change was only implemented to mobs conning Impossible to Gauge, not regular mobs (in other words, you can still invite BLMs to parties post-65!!!) XD

You may also want to mention that Sanction effect in an ToAU expansion area includes a EXP bonus.

Let's see what i remember:
Summoner Stuff:
Summoner's avatars were only obtainable through their prime fights, there were no mini fights.

There used to be 1 blood pact timer, it was not split into two categories.

Summoning magic skill had NO USE at all.

I'll add more when i think of it... >.>

PLD's Rampart now grants a Stoneskin-like Magic Shield effect to party members in range, but only against spell damage.

DRK now has Absorb-TP in addition to the other new spells mentioned.

There's the entire ranged damage/accuracy and distance change for all ranged attacks to mention, as well as the "MPK update" that makes mobs disappear when out of their usual roaming range (and as an unintended consequence, made BST soloing more difficult). Those were pretty huge alterations to the game system.

Yeah I remember the good old days where people actually partied int Latheine and Shakrami and all those other unused places. Like someone said earlier, you had to fight your way to and from your camp.

Remember when the right of passage of traveling to Jueno all by yourself for the first time? At least that's what everyone I knew did lol. It was very fun and scary at the same time. No map, just some directions you get from one of your buddies, and tons of monsters waiting to kill you, some with the ability to run faster than you. Those were the days, you find out so much about yourself in those early levels back then. Oh yeah, I don't even remember the term "power leveler" back then. You leveled with your pt or on your own, not with the help of a lvl 60 whm or 2. It was all about xp per hour, not per battle.

I could go on forever about what it was like back then ^_^

Astral Rings in Coffers in Oztroja used to equal "major pain in the butt" for anyone trying to get their Artifact Armor due to many Thieves making their attempts to crack a coffer for the, at the time, 2mil gil Astral Ring.

RDM Body from the coffer as an example, used to be either a lucky first or second day of camping... and could go up to as high as a full week (play time/style depending) in Oztroja just to get the AF because of the competition to find a coffer.

Mob behavior
The patch that killed BST and fixed MPK for good. Mobs that did not con {Impossible to Gauge} would no longer 'walk back' to their original 'Spawn Point'. Instead, after losing all hate, if misplaced outside a certain radius from their Spawn Point, they simply disappear and re-appear in the Original Spawn Radius. MPK was severely weakened, as one could no longer die and force trained mobs to 'link' or 'aggro' onto other players who had not done anything to get on the enemy's hate list.

edit: already in the thread. But should be at the top for easy to read-ness. D:

When a player initiated a ranged attack, no matter how far away the target moved afterward it would still hit. I seem to recall them changing this before the damage nerf. This used to be awesome in ballista.

When CoP was first released Promyvions were much much harder than they are now. When my group attempted them on the first night of NA release the higher level MRs required an alliance to beat and spawned more strays faster. Afterward the portal only stayed open for a very short period of time, causing a lot of people to get left behind.

Rusty gear used to NPC for a lot back when fishing required no attention, and places like Yugott grotto would be packed with fishbots. I'm not positive, but I also remember there being a piece that sold to NPC for more than it cost to buy.

V claw, D ingot and serket ring were not KSNM drops.

DRK could use the disengage/re-engage trick to swing faster.

I'm also not 100% sure but didn't NIN sub used to give 4 shadows from utsu ni instead of the 3 it does now?

I did not see this mentioned but it was a big change, for pld.

Originally blocking was just like parry, it would block all dmg, but you blocked less often and skilling it up.....

Just wondering, but wouldn't people want to see things newer first? A lot of the older posts are from like the earlier Japanese updates.

Beastmaster pets no longer give you an EXP penalty. This was due to a recent update.

"NM drops

The following items have been given RA/EX twins: "

What does this twins mean? There's 2 lizzies out there and the other drops ra/ex boots?
#50 Oct 02 2007 at 3:57 PM Rating: Decent
they took the original items away from the NMs and gave them rare/ex versions instead the rare/ex versions have slightly different names but the stats and level are the same. leaping lizzie no longer drops leaping boots she (i think its a girl =P) instead drops bounding boots
another example is valkurm emperor he no longer drops emperor hairpin he now drops empress hairpin
