#56REDACTED, Posted: Nov 28 2007 at 3:46 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) and viola, my DRK 75's 501 ATT, that I've worked my *** off to build, is now a <too weak> 473 thanks to recent re-changes. I'm SO F**KING SICK of S/E flip-flopping stuff back and forth, that I'm considering selling my account and quitting. This makes the fourth or fifth major change in the past couple months. ***** these dorks. They can't even decide what works best. I think I'm gonna go find me a nice NON-MMO to play and not waste my time arguing with n00bs, competing with RMTs, and whining everytime they change the rules AGAIN.

When I first started the game, shields actually blocked damage instead of decreasing it. You would get a message that said "Bob blocked the attack with his shield." I believe that was the first update I saw when I started the game.

Also add in the MPK fix with zoning monsters/BST releasing pets/Binding mobs near people. MPKing is no longer possible except for zining NMs... Forgot how long ago this was.

A number of people's account's are violated by an "unknown" third party and customer service does nothing about the matter.

Well, Wings of the Goddess is out now, so that adds a bit more to the updated stuff. Exploring Vana d'Iel in the past, campaign battling (basically miniature but much more rapid-fire Beseiged sequences), and the two news jobs of Dancer and Scholar, not to mention new "Macro Books". There are 20 Macro Books, one for each job, and they each have have a complete 10 sets (or 200 macro slots). Plus, the past has Allied Sigil, their version of Aht Urghan's Sanctions, except with the Allied Sigil, you can get up to 3 additional effects all stacked on a single cast and they each cost 50 Allied Notes, which you can get from doing Campain Ops or Campaign Battles in the past. The three enhancements are the same as Sanction, giving the options of Regen, Refresh, and longer duration of meal time. The perk is as mentioned earlier; unlike Sanction, you can get from 1 to all of them active at the same time, not to mention they cost half as much of the specially obtained currency as Aht Urghan (since the effects from Sanction all cost 100 Imperial Standing). Plus there are Maws located around the world that you can use to travel back and forth between the present and past. There's more I could get into depth about...but I'm feeling too lazy to continue right now. ^^

Ranger gets job ability Velocity Shot. Increases ranged damage and reduces ranged delay while reducing melee attack and increasing melee delay. Has no effect on TP per hit. Lasts 5 minutes with a 5 minute recast timer.

Final Fantasy XI 12-14-11 Update wrote:
Adjust the resolution of menus.
The main screen resolution for "FINAL FANTASY XI" is dependent on the "Overlay Graphics Resolution" setting.
If the Overlay Graphics Resolution is set higher than the Menu Resolution, menus will be automatically resized.

I thought of it first:

Memory is shoddy here...bare with me.

Year when, I forgot, maybe 2005.

The total experienced required after lvl51 to 75 was decreased. Lvl51 needed 10,000xp or so. This was decrased to 8,000(est.). A better example.. the 60s, were 30,000xp. I'm 65 and the exp is 26,000. This reduced the time it took to lvl a great deal. Before the decrease, there was no CoP, meaning no bibiki bay. You can imagine how long it took to get through the 50s before this change.

This could maybe do with updating, perhaps info such as server transfers and how to go about them, new jobs added in WOTG update, new job abilities added recently etc . I only mention this because someone posted this thread after a member asked 'whats changed' and I read it, and while good, it is largely incomplete .

I haven't really paid much attention to this post til now.

This idea has some merit.

We could gather some update info starting from the beginning as a chronological order of updates. This could be helpful for the people coming back from 3 years ago to 3 months ago.

Each entry could have a date associated with it.

Making mobs despawn after a person zoned or died really was a huge change. I remember whole zones basically being shut down for hours until a group of high levels came and cleared everything out. Crawler's Nest and Garbage Citadel were two of the most notorious for that... Someone would train a big pile of aggressive mobs to the zone line, and they would kill anyone trying to zone in or out.

Ah the good ol days... o_o

DUUUUDE that crap at the citadel made me quit! I was so angry and I was a monster with my Dark Knight too but trying to level there just got so annoying I had to quit playing the game before I broke more keyboards..

Wow I think I might come back now... Been feeling the itch to play anyway

This is kinda off topic, but i used to play the game - now I am trying to start again, but it won't let me - says it "can't work under current operating system." Could anyone help me? Did they change what you need to play the game?

Great thread, a real walk down memory lane :)

When I started in early '04, the Maze of Shakarami was THE place to level from about 11-15. Loved the worms, ran from the bats and gobs and feared the ghouls. I spent a lot of hours there. Now people to to the Dunes at 9 or 10, and the Maze is a Ghost town (cave?).

I also remember spending hours fishing up Rusty Caps in Rabao back when they were worth something. Also tons of Moats--and I never botted. Not once.

Yes, you're absolutely right! This thread is full of win!

However, and not to sound rude, but this thread would be an epic win if it were to actually get updated more than once every six or so months.

Good times. Quit the game for WoW almost 2 years ago & now just reinstalling FFXI. A lot of changes has happened sence then which seem kinda good & bad.

Is RMT still as bad as it use to be back in the day? NMs were camped 24/7 by them & SE didnt seem to mind them at all.
