Tuesday update:

Well here is my typical Tuesday update. I got level 20 on my Ranger on Vanguard. Having a great time playing it. As for SE and FFXI... nothing at all. No emails, no phone calls.. nothing that could be called service at all.

Really disapointed with SE right now. I know this topic is probably getting old with lots of people but it's not really something you should forget. You could lose your character at any time and be out all the work you put into the game.

My conspiracy theorist side is thinking SE is trying to drag out this process so people will just forget and move on. That way there is no need for them to do any work.

Well that's it for me. Ohh and if anyone on Xeth server (in Vanguard) wants to party look me up. I usually play my Ranger Urgit.

Well here is another update with SEs official policy post.

I called in and was told I would receive an email that would need to be notorised leagally and sent back to SE. Then my account would be returned. However after reviewing my account the rep said I wouldn't need to go through all that since my situation is a little differnt than most.

He said I would be "first in line" since my complaint has been in the works for so long and that a manager would be calling me to activate my account and give me the new password.

I asked him if that ment I was 100% getting my account back and he said yes. There is no reason not to reactivate it and give me full access to my character.

I am still missing out on some gear (well a ton) but I can live with that. I still might ask about account roll back but I really don't want to rock the boat.

So this sounds good but I won't get too excited until I am running around with my character again.

What made your account different?? They told me today to wait till I got an E-mail, I called the very day after I got hacked (12/25/07 hacked,) (12/26/07 called them to report)... what is all this about "first in line?"

Not flaming you, actually I'm glad for you ^^, I'm just trying to figure out what makes one persons problem (in this "hacking" situation) more important than anyone else's to make a them be "first in line".

I was able to recover my account after the hack. Then it got banned due to the dirty credit card the RMT used (literally 3 hours after I recovered it). When I got my account back I changed everything back to my info and used my credit card. So I am able to validate the account but it's banned. SE investigated the incident and determined that it wasnt my fault the account was banned.

What's funny is the rep seemed to know my case when I called. I guess they really do investigate these issues.

But like I said until the account is in my hands again I am not going to celebrate anything.

Oh ok I see now. But wow that had to suck getting banned RIGHT after getting it back... I mean come on SE, is this what we have to look forward to???

Hey CyrUrgit!

Since I'm in the same boat like you're and after reading that they are actually doing something about it now I went straight to the SE website and opened the webchat. Got connected to Terrence(OMG WTF 1st time I've ever seen him on web chat) and told him about the situation. He asked for a few things like which character I was on when I got banned when I got my account back and when I was hacked. He told me that he escalated the account once more but in a different fashion this time but told me he couldn't give me any details about that yet neither could he give me a ETA.

Got my email from SE with the form that I have to fill in and send to them. Hopefully I'll have my account back by early next week. i just hope I can get my gear/gil back to what they were.

Got another update.

After being told I did not need to fill out the notary form I received one in email. Seeing as I have a notary and mail facility in my office I filled it out, had it notarized and shipped out.

I then called SE again (after getting busy signals for 2 days) and spoke to another rep. He stated I did in fact have to have the notarized form filled out and then once received by SE it would be reviewed then I would receive an email with instructions to call SE for a new password.

So still the waiting game to see what exactly is going to happen with my account..

Damn! If I actually have to send them a notarized form then that's it for me and I probably will just quit. Since I got an US account but living in Germany I'd probably have to pay 20+$ for the notary and probably another 50$ - 100$ to get the form translated into German ;;

Didn't receive an email yet though so there is still hope I don't have to jump through another few hoops.

Hello again :)

Well it looks like my package was recieved by SE at 8:45AM this morning signed for by S. Tarvin (starvin - I loled).

Ima call SE and see what they say the next step is.

Wow! I got a CSR in less than 10 seconds. He said the major fallout is over and it's a lot slower on the phones now. Anyways - he said they need to review my notorized form (I guess it did not make it to them yet).

He also said that I could get an email in as little as a day (meaning today) with information to activate my account or as long as 2 weeks if something really bad happened.

I still feel like the carrot is just out of reach but still feeling hopeful.

Hello all me again,

Well - SE says they have all my information and it's all in process. I really don't know what the holdup is but I will keep hoping.


So yeah - not much of an update. I think ima call SE again. No harm in applying a little pressure.

Same thing happened to me, I never lost access to the account and was banned about 5 days later, and tbh I'm pretty sick of the way they are treating it, like I'm just another cheater who got busted. Anyway it's been over a week since they got my notarized form and they still won't tell me anything. Anyone else has these same problems with their clueless employees, seeing as how you don't have many options, go file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. If you look SE doesn't exactly have high marks in customer service as is. Also like I said on another post, I've seen the person who hacked me go through 4 others since i was banned, so not only is this problem bigger than people thought, they ase still dealing with it. Now I don't know exactly how they do it, but seems they ban a credit card, but you are still able to make a new account using it, just get banned on the next system check. It makes business sense seeing as how they probably get the money from the first months fee from the rmt in question, and I'm sure rmt don't mind spending the ~$12 per mule they use to sell the stolen gear. So SE gets their money, RMT don't care cause they are raping us by the masses. So yeah seems to me the reason SE is actually doing something, as slow and as handicapped as it may be, is because these rmt were hacking too many people, therefore affecting their bottom line if everyone decides to quit. But it's sad when a legit player gets banned because of a rmt, all the while that rmt is free to do the same thing to anyone he wants. Granted it was my pc security that was compromised, but the problem really stems from SE and allowing these people to continue doing this, at some point they have to be held accountable. On top of all this, I'm a ninja who has a rdm and a thf friend, and can be frequently be found camping nms against rmt, or doing other stuff to make money, so it's like at first glance I probably do look like a rmt >.> other than byakkos brutal and my rajas. So I get this crazy feeling they are gonna tell me I'm not getting my account back. Which if that's the case, then SE really does love it's rmt cause wtf if a legit player can't camp them who can? And also, they keep the STF locked up in a basement somewhere, cause wtf I can't get them to let me talk to anyone that knows anything specific about my situation?

I don't know why I keep doing this but...

I called SE again today to get an update on my account and again was told they have nothing to offer me. I cannot even remotely guess what the holdup is. The person I spoke to (Zak) said that they need to have multiple groups within the company work together to get accounts back and I guess they are just really bad at working with each other.

I asked for totals on how many accounts were compromised and how many had been returned. I was told that information could not be shared.

I was also told that if enough people went to the website and requested the process to be sped up that potentially more resources would be assigned to the task.

So if you have a moment please go to playonline's website and request that SE/POL speed up the account recovery process. If enough people complain maybe it will get fixed.

Pretty much got the same thing here, they still can't tell me if they even received the notary form which they have had since the 5th (btw starvin signed for mine too). I am really getting the feeling they are trying to discourage me in hopes I will just give up. Then my common sense kicks in "They wouldn't actually do that.. right?"
Anyway it's getting very old hearing the same thing I heard over 2 weeks ago "when we receive the account verification form we will start our investigation" They no doubt should have the form, they are just taking forever to get to it.. Hey at least they get President's Day off right? >.>
At this point they need to at least post something on PoL, give us some information, cause it's the not knowing that's really killing me. All the while not knowing if I will even be returned an account that should have never been taken from me in the first place. Yeah, kinda bothers me, just a bit..

Ty Name! I got your email and sent it out...

They should have it by 12est my time - time there 9am! so they will get it as soon as they open up!

I included a letter - a photo copy of my drivers license, military ID, my LES with my current address. I also included a photo copy of all of my registration keys and such. Hopefully that will speed up showing I am the real owner.

Apparently someone has had my account for sometime (while i was deployed) and change the address / CC info. But if I get a speedy answers, I will post - maybe adding in more info than needed might help, I will keep you guys posted!
