Im guessing that Im one of the lucky ones then. I got hacked in the middle of March and called and sent the notary form and everything as soon as I could and I got my account back on April 9th. I dont get why I got my account back faster than the people who got theirs taken so long ago though.

It seems to me as if people who got hacked recently get their accounts back earlier in general. That system is called LIFO -> Last In First Out. I guess they realized that the earlier they act on someones account theft claims the smaller the damage, the fewer logs to go through and so on. Maybe they even improved the log system and made a few tools to fix up stolen accounts faster. Those tools(if there are any that is) only work for recent logs though and they still have much more work going through the old logs manually.

Maybe hacked accounts that are reported as being stolen now are dealt with in a different manner(can't be flagged for RMT or something like that or flags will be removed as soon as they are reported stolen).

I guess whenever there are any recent thefts they will work on those and put older ones on hold until they've fixed those that are much easier to fix. It's a pretty unfair system but probably more effective if they only have a very small number of people working on those accounts.

Being one of the few I've seen to have gotten my account back I almost feel guilty.. Only thing I did that some of you may not have done is file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Not that it made them do anything, just another way to complain really.

It's been over a weeks since my last visit to this thread, and it's pretty upsetting to see that nothing has changed. I really hope you guys get some results soon, this is ridiculous and SE should be ashamed..

I made my typical Tuesday call. I got Kathy (I think that was it). She didn't want to listen anything I had to say. Very cut and dry - "We asked you for info, you gave it, now you wait."

I had actually asked if she could forward this thread to her supervisor and she said if it was important and on a fan site that they already knew all about it and there was no need to forward anything to anyone.

So yeah - kinda bad update but what are you going to do.

I think I might change the the title of this thread a little. Maybe SE will spot it. Not that I think it will do any good but they should read about people stuck in their process and maybe find ways to improve it.

Also I am surpised with how many people that lost their accounts more people are not posting about it. If you are in the account restoration process please post on this thread. I am just curious to see how many of us are out there.

I'm also waiting to hear about my account, after being hacked in February. Sent in my notarized form and have been getting the same "under investigation" updates for 2 months. I've been watching this thread to see if there is any good news. This month I got tired of waiting and tried out wow...love the graphics but I really miss playing with friends.

What I would like to know is for the people that got their accounts back, did you get placed back on your server? My character was moved to another server so just wondering how they handled that.

Yep they will put you back home for free. You will just need to contact a GM in game and explain the situation.

GMs are useless! :P

The moment I got my account back over the phone, I had the chance to return to my home server and change my name. Just let the POL representative know that you're not on the correct server and they -should- easily transfer you in a matter of minutes.

They also gave me the chance to call back whenever I felt I wanted to transfer back to Lakshmi. So you have an unlimited amount of time to call back, but it's only a one time deal.

Although, if you decide to transfer on the spot, make sure you log in first and check things out, such as the Delivery Box for any gil and items the RMT might have left behind.

These Tuesday updates feel like they are comming quicker and quicker. I think I might switch to calling them everyother week now. Seeing as I get less info everytime I call that would make more sense.

Anyways. I called and got Daniel today. He was plenty nice enough but pretty much said the same thing everyone else has said. The accounts are still being investigated and no new information is available.

He did toss in "if your account will not be returned we will notify you of that also".

So I wonder if that means a lot of people in the process will not get their accounts back.

Well that's it and thank you to everyone who posted if they are still in the process.

See you in two weeks.

PEACE

Well I thought I'd pop in here hoping for more dramatic results for you all since the official announcement from SE about recovering compromised accounts. Saddened to see Cyr still having no results and after 3.5 months. Smiley: frown

Yeah I pretty much have given up. That's probably what SE wants by dragging this out so long.

I am looking forward to playing AoC soon...

Well oddly enough SE sent me an email right after I made my last post.

They are asking me for my ISP - AGAIN.

I am on hold with them as I write this.

Judging from the lack of activity on this thread, I think it's safe to assume that neither CyrUrgit nor silverdevil have gotten anything from SE except yet more stonewalling.

Again, I fail to see how anyone benefits from dragging out the process this long; SE doesn't benefit because they aren't getting any more subscription fees for the accounts that are still waiting to be restored, the players sure as hell aren't benefiting because they can't play... am I missing something here?

Got this e-mail last friday, called SE up and gave them my isp info, the rep said there was no eta on getting my account back. So still nothing really new here. By the way has anyone got this e-mail and got their account back, if so how long did you wait?

I dont think anyone has, but it seems that everyone who got that email is in a special group of accounts that are all sitting together on someones desk somewhere. From what ive theorized, whenever they decide to release that batch of accounts, everyone who has been waiting the longest will all get their accounts back at the same time.

Well - I called SE today. I wish I remembered the person's name but I was so disgusted with their attitude I didn't focus on the name. Anyways, I told them I was calling to check on my account like I have been told to do and he said "I highly doubt anyone told you to keep calling". I knew after that comment that I would receive no service. So he proceeds to tell me if I have not received an email with further instructions that I should not call and told me to have a nice day.

So not the best update. I will try again next week.

I got hacked back in April...after sending in the form they requested, I got my account back in a week. I then requested a character rollback, which they said would take about a week...and it has been almost 3 weeks.
It seems very few people have good news about their characters getting returned to them...

Which is exactly why I tell anyone who says that SE has any remnants of quality service to their customers is full of **** or is completely deluded.

My account was just hacked like an hour ago. However, by the time my screen came up to get back to playonline the guy had already managed to log off and change my password so I was screwed. Luckily my friend down the street was on and called him and started yellin at him and we got a gm in like 5 minutes. He said my account would be disabled for at least 7 days.

The hacker managed to transfer my character to odin. I dont know what else the jerk managed to do. Hopefully nothing considering most of my gear is spread through my mules and my important items should have been in my moglocker which was expired. Oh how i feel so violated.

So its a really good thing I called today. It took me about 30 minutes to actually get through to someone, but the guy I talked to (Richard) was very helpful. He got me my account back in less than 10 minutes. I was so excited.

I got on my character, and changed all my information. Got on to my character, and found that he warped me back to jeuno courtesy of my warp cudgel and managed to send all my gil(~600k) and my noble's tunic. But I think that was it. So my question is, is it worth getting a roll back, and how would I even go about doing that? The guy told me to find it on playonline but I cant seem to find it.

Also, how far back does the roll back take the character?

well I called again today and talked to a girl Rep, pretty much gave me the same old story. Nothing new going on we are sorry for the wait blah blah...

This is really starting to get old after 4 months, I really feel some for you guys that have been waiting over 4 months.
#176 May 21 2008 at 3:51 PM Rating: Excellent
Be careful about the rollback....i read that it takes about a week, and I have been waiting almost 4 weeks now. And, while u wait for the rollback, you have to keep your account active...so I am getting ready to get charged for a month where I may not be able to play...again <sigh>
