Newly Hacked accounts and RMT charactersFollow

There have been numerous hacked accounts that have been besieged starting on Jan 23 across multiple servers, including my own due to a virus received from a website recently...no, not a gil selling one. ffxi-atlas.com actually.

Looks like there are quite a few RMT characters with names like kiioo, Kioo, Kiooo, kioooo or other variants that just sprung up on ffxiah.com across multiple servers starting on Jan 23. I found my stuff on Blackqw on the Garuda server within 25 minutes of searching and posted a list. So far everything I've worked for is slowly getting sold and so far I know that at least one of my characters has been moved to Pandemonium (sorry guys). I'm afraid my character will become a fish bot or something horrible :( I hope when SE return my beloved Ryder (and mules) back to me I can get it restored back to 100%.

I've called up SE multiple times and told them which characters to look out for, but they still wouldn't freeze the accounts because they are "investigating". Anyhow, wanted to give a heads up to my ffxi peeps across the earth and say check your pc's for keyloggers and such because ffxi security is obviously busted. I've also given SE my inputs as to what I believe would be better security so these a-holes just can't change information without a stronger verification method.

Be careful out there.

Sorry to hear that OP, my friend was also hacked and dumped on Pandemonium. Look up Chaosprime, he's in pretty much the same boat as you are.

well if these toons are all getting x-ferd to pandemonium(sp) know what that tells me?

that tells me panda has the most gilbuyers why else would they pay $25 to transfer your character to that specific server

its like they say. gotta spend $$$ to make $$$

Actually, these characters are transfered to the other servers under the "current credit card", which then gets changed after they transfered. Doesn't cost the RMT anything...

The good thing being that as they have at that point broken the law, as in real law, you can actually get your bank and police to investigate it. It seems once you have a legit authority on your side SE will jump through hoops to fix the problem.

Yep, I called my credit card company about it. Gotta love fraud laws in situations like these.

I haven't check in awhile. But I do from time to time and this rash of recent hackings made me go back and check. Price for a million gil is now $15-$20 lower (depending on some servers) on a certain site, well looks like they got what they wanted -_-;;

SE please cut this cancer from our life.

Like two months ago, a new RMT linkshell popped up on Phoenix called IncalcubleGrups (or something close to that, it was clearly meant to be Incalculable Groups, but both words are misspelled). Many of their members are low level farmers, but there's a ton in the last 2-3 weeks showing up who have exceptionally good (for an RMT) gear from sea, sky and even a few ground pieces here and there (like a bard with Zenith Pumps). I'm 100% sure that these characters are stolen or bought and were transferred here as I can't see your average RMT who spends 22 hours a day doing nothing but camping Amemet going through the trouble of getting Ethereal Earring or spending the money on upgrading a pair of Ninja Tekko+1. If only there was some way to prove it.

Post names here, see if anyone can vouch for them. Or do it on the server specific forums. It might not lead to anything but worth a shot.

As of Jan 10th, there was a new trojan found (and protection added against) by Symantec. It is called Infostealer.Onlinegame. It specifically targets account and login info for online games. No idea if this is what is grabbing more accounts, but it's worth knowing about.

At the time of posting the info, the variants reported by Symantec were targeting WoW, Maple Story, MSN Games and Yahoo Messenger. Probably wouldn't take much for a dedicated hacker to alter it a bit to grab other game account info.

Congrats folks, the online gaming community is now worth enough money that they have created a trojan specifically to target us, instead of reusing other hacks to steal info.

Another round of Flash Active X and Quicktime patches came out yesterday as well - and the exploit code is already running "in the wild".

beeep wrong even if they transfer under current card you dont get billed for the x-fer til the 1st of the next month after and they change CC info long before if they didnt u could request change PW and get account back.. so YOU dont pay for the transfer they do

Get your account locked by SE, don't let those RMT bastards be on it a second longer.

Ok.... This is really starting to get out of hand. I'm not saying it wasn't bad before.. Because a lot of people were hacked in December. But this is just out of hand. I know SE is doing something about it, but i wish something would be done sooner than later..

I added a wikibase page so that we can keep all the information on these hackings in one spot. Hopefully doing so could help others who could possibly be hacked, people who want to help look for missing characters on the server they are transferred to, people who have had their accounts compromised, or possibly even aid SE in getting these account back to the original player. Check it out and add any info you think could help.

I can't count how many times I've read those two lines. Can anyone tell us if they've successfully had their account locked? If not then why was this option created?

They charge the transfer fee to your CC before they switch cards.

This is why EU players can get their accounts back and NA players can't

as i said before.. BEEP wrong. no. they dont.. no neit nein

you can CHARGE the char transfer then change CC AFTER it will STILL charge the 2nd card not original i know this for a fact cause my best friend sam quit and gave me his 75 rdm who is now my personal PL

i paypaled him the @25 thinking it was gonna charge his card cause he did xfer to my server BEFORE he gave me the account but had decided he was gonna quit that same month so i gave him $25 cause im the one who asked him to move to my server

so he already transfered didnt get charged i changed CC info WEEKS after he originaly transfered and on the 1st of the month I GOT charged the $25 +$14 for xfer and 1 month + mules

bottom line is if they steal your account and transfer your characters NO you dont get charged the $25 they do

I think what SE should do is do a verify over the phone when changing payment information over pol. This way they can ask them a series of questions to verify that this is the owner of the account. Or have sercret questions you have to anwer to change things on pol.

It'd be too labor-intensive for a company that doesnt even have 24/7 support.
