Free? Nothing is free. I payed 30$ to get a Notary/Certified Form shipped to SE. I've been waiting for almost 2 months for my account to be returned. Two Months. You think SE would atleast transfer us back to our original servers.

I'll complain all I want.

Trend Micro

AVG Full Version

Mcafee

Norton

Kasperky

Webroot Anti-Spyware

Ad-Aware Full Version

While most of the above listed I wouldn't trust at all, most people are smart enough to invest ~$40-80 or more a year to help secure things such as FFXI Accounts rather than gamble with luck on a game of "Did I get the trojan'd ad?"

Other precautions taken tend to be things like the Firefox and ad-block fixes which help reduce the chance (There is always a chance even if you use any of the above, preferably in the combo of good anti-vi good anti-spy rather than throwing all your money with say, Norton and nothing else) but honestly, I think the awareness of what was going on here been known since what, early December if not sooner? Given it was more recent with the sudden slam on hacked accounts, people should know better.

So what if you're ******** at a $30 cost to get back on track, when $10 was used to prevent issues on Square's end in the future and the other $20 was because you wanted things done asap rather than waiting a few more days- what about the people who put more than that to prevent these things from happening? ;P

Course, there is the sure-fire route of play on PS2/3 only or 360... But when you play on PC, be ready to safeguard things one way or another.

They're all Square Fanbois and can't be trusted, of course!

It's not sure-fire. Don't want people to think they'll be absolutely one hundred percent safe if they play on console. Safer, yes. Sure-fire? No.

Had you not been stupid and got your account taken off you then you'd not be in a position to have to accept whatever SE will do for you, like it or not.

Your complaining is therefore pointless and achieves nothing.

I'd love to see your response if your account were to ever be hacked. Surely it wouldn't be "I love SE and will accept anything they give me in return, even if my character is completely naked and has 0 gil to it's name."

I don't need your useless remarks about how stupid I am for losing my account. Tons of people had their characters stolen even with the best of protection on their PCs.

How about taking that ignorance somewhere else?

I thank you for the advice, although both my PC and my boyfriend's PC had most of these installed already (We are usually very careful when it comes to trojans and viruses, but hey, we're not perfect), only one of the PCs were compromised and that is yet to be determined.

I don't care for the words "Most of these" since usually when you got multiple instances of a virus scanner (Especially Norton) they tend to fight each other ;O

Out of curiosity which and are they actual full versions or the freebies from internet service provider/military/free download/work?

Using communities online and other leads that directly tie into your account including paying on a comp but playing elsewhere, this situation is currently focused on keyloggers really and AFAIK with this situation you can't exactly get one of those on at least a PS2... Don't get me wrong, theres always a chance where there is a determination, but for this instance I am pretty sure that if the account is localized to a consol it is safe in this instance.

My friend who had his account raped talked to a GM after the last announcement, they told him NO sold items would be replaced, only r/ex items as per the current policy. I find it hard to believe they will do it just for you.
